Ok, maybe not, but Sandinista has my favorite Clash song ever, that being "Something about England." To my knowledge this track never gets any praise and it certainly did not appear on The Essential Clash greatest hits CD. So, am I one the sole afficionandos of this song in the Clash world?

Also, has anyone read Passion is a Fashion: The Real Story of the Clash by Pat Gilbert? I am thinking of picking it up.

ok. i might even consider combat rock a better album than sandinista. i really admire that they were trying so many different things with that one, but sandinista has so many songs that i skip past to get to the good stuff. there's a short album full of perfect songs in sandinsita (i think the whole thing's worth it for charlie don't surf), but the songs on london calling were all very strong. at least sandinista showed that the clash had balls.

R.I.P. joe

Sandinista is my favorite Clash album, but I understand why people don't generally agree with me. It's a very uneven and drawn out album. London Calling gets all the praise because not only is it insanely consistent, but it's stylistically varied.

I'd probably put the first album above London Calling, too.

Excellently put. Couldn't agree more. Sandanista is awesome. Has everything from their Reggae style, to punk, to rock.

Charlie Don't Surf
Broadway
Corner Soul
The Magnificant Seven

...are worth the price of admission ALONE

The only thing I don't like is that the version of The Mag. 7 on Sandanista is not as good as the one on Story of the Clash.

All that being said, "London Calling" the song>>>>>>>>everything else.

I can't put any one form of Magnificent Seven above the others. . .they're all excellent. Some of my favorite lyrics ever.

no. i love the clash, i've had sandinista for ten years, and i still don't think i've listened to the whole thing. not attentively, anyway.

I really like Sandinista, but I've never listened to the whole album because there are so many songs and I don't feel like spending the time to "get" all of them for the few that are supposed to be good.

London Calling >>> Give 'em Enough Rope >>> Sandinista! >>> The Clash >>> Combat Rock >>> Cut The Crap

Streetcore >>> Global A GoGo >>> Rock Art & The X-Ray Style

Best Live CDs:
- Live: From Here To Eternity (!)
- Live In Japan: Osaka 2004 (Blitzkrieg Bob sung by Strummer, pure awesomeness!)
- Acton Town Hall

Ditto the relief at the "maybe not."

I like tracks from Sandinista, but I can't listen straight through. My favorite track is an odd one, though, Hitsville UK.

Combat Rock woudl be 100x better if you took off half the songs.

London Calling still reigns.

PS: Am I a rare Clash fan who likes B.A.D.? Or are there others?

i like B.A.D. , although Mick Jones all alone is not nearly as good as Joe Strummer with his mescies.

That's so true. I just recently bought Sandinisita, but normally when I get a new CD I listen to every track straight through. With Sandinista, I simply cannot do that. My favorite tracks on Sandy, however, are the aformentioned Something about England, Hitsville UK, Magnificent Seven, The Leader, Somebody Got Murdered, The Sound of Sinners, Police On My Back, The Call Up, and Washington Bullets.
