Saoirse was also in Byzantium, one of the greatest vampire movies of all time.(not sure if it was mentioned) Anyways I'm a huge fan, she comes across as such an intuitive actress and obviously quite attractive. Quite interested in anything she does really.

As I've said before, I wasn't particularly fond of Byzantium overall, but speaking of Neil Jordan I watched Ondine maybe 2-3 months ago and enjoyed it; admittedly I had to enable subtitles once or twice as the thicker Irish accents were a little hard to understand at times, haha.

Anywho, GBH premiered in Prague a couple of days ago. I was hoping for more comprehensive coverage by now but alas it wasn't to be. IHS' two decidedly low-res galleries can be found here and here (red carpet/photocall respectively).

Edit: Here's a short interview mash-up with the cast, from the BFF... and a few mixed audience reactions to the film at the tail end for good measure.

how many gigs is your Saoirse folder, JaseC?

If the Steam thread taught me anything, it's that you are a collector.

The few gif archives I've downloaded from Tumblr amount to 2GB, but I only have them because, as you've noticed, I use them as reaction gifs in lieu of the usual stuff (though I really ought to sift through the pile and delete the more awful ones, of which there are many, being Tumblr-sourced). Contrary to what may be popular belief I don't actually hoard the images -- animated or otherwise -- that I come across. ;)

Edit: Update #1: Mary Queen of Scots "should" start filming later in the year. The interview itself is in Slovek, but here's a translation:

In connection with you, there’s already talk about another very interesting project. You’re shooting with Danish director Susanne Bier, whose film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

It’s a historical story of Mary, Queen of Scots, and work on the filming should begin sometime in the second half of this year. At the end of last year, we visited Scotland, did research and recorded a few test shots and it was great fun. You know, it’s a truly feminine - literally feminist film. Working Title is the producer, Susanne Bier will be in charge of directing, Penelope Skinner (British playwright and screenwriter) is writing the screenplay. We all got on the train and traveled to Scotland, and it was actually fun. I can not wait to film.

Update #2: Higher-res images from the Grand Budapest Hotel premiere in Prague have finally surfaced:

Update #3: Additional promo portraits from the BFF have also popped up (more here):

Update #4: And finally, here's a short interview from the BFF red carpet.

Is it just me or is she appearing more serious in photos lately?

JaseC

Nikole Beckwith has uploaded another couple of photos from the set of Stockholm, Pennsylvania:

And a few new photos of Grand Budapest Hotel have surfaced (a couple of promo stills and a random set photo):

There's also a new interview with the cast of GBH on what it was like to work with Wes Anderson. As an aside, I wish more filmmakers would put as much effort into chronicling production as, say, Peter Jackson does. It'd be amazing to watch something like GBH come together piece by piece.

Doesn't even sound like the name haha.

It's close enough. :p

This is so stupid, but I couldn't stop laughing :D

Btw, I'm really sad I didn't know Budapest Hotel aired on the Berlinale. Would've watched it...

Well, at least you only have to wait ~2.5 weeks for it to hit theatres!

Edit: A few outtakes from the T Magazine (NY Times) photoshoot have surfaced (full gallery here):

And another interview from the BFF has been released, featuring Saoirse and Tony.

Edit edit: Digital Spy has uploaded an interview with the GBH cast.

Edit edit: Screen Slam has uploaded an interview with Saoirse herself about GBH.

Edit edit edit: The Sunday Times UK published a new interview a couple of days ago but unfortunately it's (currently?) behind a paywall. Here are at least two of the images that accompany it, though:

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
She's been nominated for the "Best Performance by a Younger Actor" Saturn Award:

And unsurprisingly the "Leading Actress (Film)" IFTA:

I don't agree with nominating her for Byzantium over HILN, but I suppose it doesn't really matter -- a nom is a nom. Anywho, to wrap things up, GBH premiered in New York yesterday so here are a few pics from that (more here):

No wonder I didn't realize about new news of her, you were updating your posts!

There was a press Q&A, too (more here):

Haha, yeah, if my post is the most recent one then I'll just edit in updates until there's new news.

Can anyone break the Times UK paywall?

There are digital scans floating about; I can't post them but they're up on fansites. It's a good read. If I could have paid just 1 pound or whatever to read the article, I would have, but that wasn't an option.

Edit: Screen Slam has uploaded a couple of interview sequences from the New York premiere of GBH.

Edit edit: Well, apparently she didn't wasn't at the Oscars proper, but she did attend Vanity Fair's party (more here):

Also, We Got This Covered uploaded a GBH-related interview. Willem Dafoe and Jeff Goldblum make up the first half while the second half is Tony Revolori and Saoirse.

JaseC

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
She'll be lending her voice for the seventh season of Robot Chicken:

I've never seen Robot Chicken before, and although I know what it is I always confuse it with Homestar Runner for some reason. :p

There's also a couple more GBH-related interviews but it's more or less reached the point where if you've seen a few you've seen them all.

Edit: Ireland's Independent has published a somewhat more general interview.

Robot Chicken is a comedy show, right? They don't really show it in my country so I guess I might miss this.

Yeah, it's a stop-motion comedy series, co-created by Seth Green. Now that you mention it I don't think the show plays on FTA stations here, either.

Edit: Rose McIver, who worked alongside Saoirse in The Lovely Bones, tweeted this pic: The tweet's been deleted. I guess she didn't want the photo up.

Edit edit: Apparently she has a very brief cameo in Muppets Most Wanted:

Wonder if it was paid. But good, I guess. I've not seen the first movie yet, and I'm a long time Muppet fan. i guess when I get some time off study. Anyway that was a bit OT.

And dammit, I hope this thread doesn't become a one on one talk between JaseC and me.

Haha, I was worried that Classy being banned would result in me just talking to myself but fortunately that's not quite the case.

I'd wait until I'm out of Byzantium. Much easier and nothing bad.

Hmmm... I'm inclined to have sex regularly, chances are it would be in and out of Byzantium...

...however, as of late my heart belongs to another. So I say fairthywell Saorise, for my love awaits across the ocean in the form of one Chiaki Kuriyama. Seriously though, Chiakis a pretty gal :)

I really enjoy hearing non Irish people try to pronounce Irish names and place names

We have a suburb of Dublin called Dun Laoghaire - Have at that one, you guys

I have a friend called Saoirse who came to visit us in Vancouver last summer and people didn't have a clue how to approach her name

lol I can't even pronounce my real Grandfather's last name.

Dem eyes. There is no escape.

This scene in Grand Budapest got me

Just 2.5 weeks to go until it hits theatres here. I suspect I'll have to take a trip into the city to see it but in this case I'll make the effort. ;)

I think she is better than JLaw in every way and that eventually she will overtake her.

I haven't been impressed with Lawrence since Winter's Bone. I thought she'd be one to watch but apparently she stopped caring upon landing The Hunger Games (which Saoirse was shortlisted for, incidentally). Mia Wasikowska is perhaps Saoirse's strongest contemporary in terms of acting chops and performance consistency.

Photos from the set of Brooklyn have surfaced, which is currently shooting in Enniscorthy, Ireland. Although I'm yet to actually play it, I can't help but think of Burial at Sea's Elizabeth (BioShock Infinite):

Also, The Daily Mail is reporting that How to Catch a Monster is slated for an October release, but being The Daily Mail it's probably just a wild guess; I've yet to see any other publication corroborate the report that Alicia Vikander replaced Saoirse in the long-dormant Testament of Youth.

You're not kidding about the Elizabeth resemblance.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'

I agree, just saw Stoker and she was really something in that. Its funny that everyone is faking an American accent in that too, ha.

I was going to wait until the IFTAs before bumping the thread again, but a couple of new interviews have popped up and each contains a small tidbit of info:

Crave Online:
Is there anything else you’ve got coming up that you’re super excited about, that you want people to know about in interview format?

Yeah, I just finished a film called Stockholm, Pennsylvania, which will be out sometime next year, and that was written and directed by Nicole Beckwith, who is a New York playwright. And there’s a film I’m just about to do, I start Monday, which has become a very, very special film all of a sudden for everyone involved. It’s called Brooklyn, and it’s based on a book by Colm Tobin, who’s an Irish novelist. It’s almost an all Irish cast and John Crowley is directing it. Julie Walters is in it, Nick Hornby wrote the script, so I’m just about to start that and I’m very excited.

Cinephiled:
I know you have Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut, How to Catch a Monster, as well as Nikole Beckwith’s Stockholm, Pennsylvania coming up soon, but I wanted to ask you about a film I read about a few years ago where you would be playing Mary, Queen of Scots. Is that a real thing?

Yeah, it is — absolutely! I’m not sure exactly when it’s going to happen, it may not be until next year, but I definitely plan on doing it. We’ve already gone up to Scotland and visited different castles that Mary went to. That’s another story that I’m extremely passionate about. As an Irish person, Scottish history is very similar to ours — it was fascinating to learn more about what they were put through and to research the relationship between the Stuarts and the Tudors. It was all so political and incestuous — quite the soap opera! So that will be a great story to tell and it’s Susanne Bier who’s going to direct and she’s just brilliant.

I'd assumed SP would release towards the end of the year but apparently it's slipped into 2015, however I'm not surprised that the future of MQoS is still a little uncertain. Hopefully the film does get off the ground as it'll be her next shot at an Oscar nomination.

You're not kidding about the Elizabeth resemblance.

Yeah, it's probably the kick in the arse I need to actually get around to playing it. :p

I agree, just saw Stoker and she was really something in that. Its funny that everyone is faking an American accent in that too, ha.

Yeah, she was excellent in Stoker. I was sifting through last month's issue of Empire AU the other day (I left it so long that I almost missed out on it, haha) and author of the Tracks review says her performance proves she's not far removed from Blanchett as far as being Australia's best acting export is concerned, which is something I definitely agree with. I can't wait to see the film for myself.

Edit: Unsurprisingly, she won the Best Actress IFTA for her role in Byzantium (her 7th overall, including the Rising Star award). Brooklyn's filming schedule prevented her from attending, though, so no pics.

Very much deserved, even if it should be for HILN, she was also great in Byzantium.

Yeah, when I read that she was nominated for Byzantium rather than HILN I was a little worried that this was a deliberate choice so the judges had an excuse to give the award to someone else, haha. It was nice to see that my cynicism was misplaced.

Edit: A few more galleries of Brooklyn set photos can be found here. I imagine things will go quiet once filming moves to Canada.

Edit edit: Rotten Tomatoes has published a short interview regarding her five favourite films. Eraserhead was a nice surprise.

Was wondering when you'd update your post.

She looks so damn strange with a hair color different from blonde. Specially with black.

I poked through the Cannes screening guide and it seems Lost River is premiering on the 20th. Runtime is 1h45m.

I was hoping she'd stick with black for a while, but alas. I do prefer it blonde, though.

Edit: Brooklyn has its first official still:
