Yahoo: A Myanmar woman beheaded in a Saudi street this week for killing her husband's young daughter is seen screaming her innocence in a video posted on the Internet Saturday.

Saudi authorities have arrested someone for filming the incident, said local newspaper websites, including Okaz and Al-Riyadh, in reports accompanied by still shots from the recording.

They did not say what the arrest was for.

The official Saudi Press Agency said Monday that Layla bint Abdul Mutaleb Bassim was executed in the Muslim holy city of Mecca for killing her husband's six-year-old daughter.

"Investigations led to her trial which proved she was guilty," the interior ministry said, quoted by SPA.

The child, also "Burmese," died from a beating and from being raped with a broomstick, it said.

"I did not kill. There is no God but God. I did not kill," cries the woman, covered in black, apparently kneeling on the pavement circled by police officers in the video. "Haram. Haram. Haram. Haram. I did not kill ... I do not forgive you ... This is an injustice," she screams in Arabic, using the Islamic term for something that is forbidden.

Thoughts? I've seen the video on LiveLeak, it's pretty brutal and the woman supposedly is screaming she is innocent till the very end. There isn't any more on the case I could gleam, but supposedly she was charged and tried somewhat quickly. Her brutal public execution is said to be used as a fear tactic to try and keep others in line. There are only 4 countries in the world that permit decapitation as an official state sanctioned punishment for a crime, Iran, Qatar, Yemen and Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Arabia is the only one who still practices it. The execution itself is pretty crazy, not only in front of everyone, but that it takes the executioner nearly three strikes with the blade to do the job.

Edit: I purposely tried to avoid commenting on whether she was innocent or guilty. We just don't know. We can assume based on how non-Saudi nationals and especially women have been treated in the past but there is no basis for that.

This would definitely not happen to a Saudi woman...
And I wouldn't be surprised if she was used as an innocent scapegoat based on past events like these

Horrific situation, especially for the poor girl that was beaten to death :( Does the original article mention anything about possible culprits?

Edit: Wait she was raped as well, how the fuck does a woman manage that? What a mess.

Even with the flimsy description in the thread it sounds like she was as framed by the rapist/murderer and as a Burmese woman had no recourse.

Saudi Arabia is fucked. That is all.

Also fuck capital punishment wherever it occurs in the world, legalized killings as a form of retributive punishment really speaks volumes of the government that sanctions that.

Posted this in the other Saudi thread yesterday, it's absolutely disgusting, can copy paste what I thought yesterday

Like many trials of foreigners in the country, mainly from poorer countries that Saudis look down on, I doubt that she was given a fair trial. Not to mention that she was claiming her own innocence. She was executed in a disgusting manner.

Yeah when a journalist is beheaded you hear about it, government officials comment it, etc., but this you won't.

This country is so disgusting. Poor woman :(
Maybe she should refrain from raping he daughters with broomsticks till death.

Also, what part of the execution was brutal? If I had a choice between decapitation and electrocution, I'd choose decapitation all day every day.

How do you know she is guilty? Fuck off with this shit.

You want your country to defend a child moles tot/murderer?

Decrying beheadings and supporting murderers are two different things. I shouldn't imagine they had a trial by jury before they executed this woman in the fucking street either.

You want your country to defend a chilld molester/murderer?

No, but aren't the US (which isn't my country) typically against beheading and cruel and unusual punishments?

Also, how can you get a fair trial in a country where the word of a woman is worth half a man's?

Beheading Defense Force? That's a new one.

I was going to watch the video on Liveleak, then I realized I didn't like the idea of watching a potentially and most likely innocent person die a painful and humiliating death.

Done with a sharp enough object it's probably more humane than hangings or lethal injections.

Doesn't make a pretty sight, true, but since this was done publicly I imagine it not being pretty is part of the idea.

What like death by lethal injection (sometimes dying in agony) or electrocuting people to death?

I love how from a couple of paragraphs with not a lot of information people have decided she was innocent? Perhaps the courts have evidence you ain't privy too?

Saudi Arabia has a slight problem with their mistreatment of foreign workers and massively disproportionate conviction and exection rate they face. I'd say it's more than fair to question the validity of the investigation and trial.

Then there's the little thing of holding someone down and beheading them publicly in a parking lot which most civil people would consider brutal.

I am so done with everything that comes from the middle-east ...
Yeah, who needs algebra anyway, huh?

I love how you know she is guilty. Saudia Arabia "law' can go fuck itself.

They also cut penis of rapists.

Mh, might be my bloodlust speaking, but as a general idea that doesn't sound so bad depending on the severity of the crime / psychological profile for the chance of repeat offense.
Although do they even often trial a male rapist in these places? And aren't the female victims punished as well in some cases?

They do it in a public place to use as an example. They usually gather people to gather round and watch whether they want to or not. Saudi may be one of the most stable countries in that reason but it's governance is barely better than ISIS.

This barbarism needs to stop. It clearly defines our true nature and the need to evolve as human species to sustain our livelihood on this dying planet.

It took 3 SLASHES before she was finally decapitated.

And I don't trust the trials in those country. Where is the father? If she was married to a Saudi then I give it a 90% chance that she's innocent.

Fucking awful. And they arrest the guy who made the video of what they did :/

Pieces of shit really.

You have read the story, right? she beat and raped their step daughter to death with a broomstick. No one is saying KSA is a beacon of judicial fairness, but that manner of death is way too fucking specific to have been simply cooked up.

Honest question. How do you know beyond any doubt that this woman should be dead?

Even if she is guilty, beheading isn't right let alone beheading in public.
