SbF: Super Best Friends Play Thread: ReBoot

I feel Liam should just stop reading too much into internet forums, becasue it seems almost every week where he takes major offense to random internet posts.

Well, he goes onto Reddit and tries to say hello to everyone he meets, but then most of them just ignore him. He's just not ready for the internet.

Watch monster girls next and overlord.

I've only seen two episodes of overlord, but I'm already worried that the description of 'What if Kirito was a skeleton man?' is not as much of a joke as I hoped... maybe it'll be come more Log Horizon then SAO and I'll actually want to keep watching, but I feel like it could still go either way.

While I am... lets just say 'pro' monster girls, I remember reading the first chapter of the manga of just being disappointed that it appears to be nothing more then ecchi bullshit. I hate ecchi bullshit. Anyone know if the story(or even characters) actually go anywhere interesting?

I talked about this a bit in the SF5 Roster Discussion Thread, but in my opinion: if there aren't at least two characters in the initial roster of the game that make you say, "Why the fuck did they let this character in and not that character?!" Ono fucked up.

The design priorities for a game that plans on releasing DLC characters a month (or less) after retail is wildly different from one that needs to live off a roster until a major version replacement. If you're relatively satisfied with the initial roster, you're either in a weird part of the Venn Diagram or someone messed up and didn't push for a broad enough market.

(I'm worried the latter will be the case, though, due to the fact we already have Ryu, Chun-Li, and Ken. They could have left one of them for the first three months of DLC releases. Better not see Akuma in the initial 16, frankly.)

I was worried about this with the first part of episode 2, where all his subjects are gushing over him
one of them quite literally
, but having watched all the episodes so far, I feel it does lean towards Log Horizon more than SAO. Like Shiro, skeleton man gets a respect from the cast because he is actually doing stuff, not because it's just "OMG Kirito-kun!" Also the romatic rivals get toned down
due to them being absent in most of the episodes

I haven't watched any of the RE3 playthrough, anything of note that needs be to seen from it?

I can see the first "wave" of dlc being ST guys like Guile, Zangief, and Akuma. Those guys are bound to sell, and later on in the games lifespan when the dedicated player base is sticking around, the more obscure but highly requested characters will start showing up(Q, Oro, Eagle, etc.)

Assuming none of them make to the initial roster of course.

So I have a Cronusmax (I guess the officially supported one) and its a lot easier than what Woolie has to deal with, since it does the re authentication automatically, the only issue is it disconnects it for the split second it takes to authenticate.

The Cronus Max is completely fine for the Xbox One, no hassle, you authenticate by plugging in a controller then plug in your stick or whatever and it never needs to authenticate again, but the PS4 is where it gets dumb because of Sony's shit.

They really don't want people to use not-PS4 controllers between the reauthentication thing and the limitations of the Labzero driver, like, tournaments on PS4 even for games with the Labzero driver you're going to need a PS4 compatible stick, that stuff is too time consuming for tournaments.

Pretty much. If there's anyone that's 100% satisfied with the initial roster, then you've honestly kind of failed on a design level, because now that person has no particular interest in the rest of your character release schedule. You're pretty much completely reliant on brand new characters to get them interested.

You've got to leave a little bit of everything to portion out over at least the first "season"/year of releases, because a lot of the value in the staggered character release schedule is getting those perpetual "bursts" of public awareness/hype, much like Skullgirls has seen with the release of characters like Big Band and Beowulf.

If you just dump all the most popular characters out on release and turn the DLC schedule into a wasteland of also-rans, you're going to see a lot more people trading the game in within the first 90 days, and a lot less interaction with the F2P aspects in general.

Wasn't invited back for Fancast #01 after the Fancast #00 shitshow. Thanks, Mike.

It's neat.
Ive read most of monster girl manga...

it's terrible.
These two posts are making me very sad.

It's more Log Horizon in that the main character is calm and smart. It's not doing much for me, but I might just be bored by typical VR MMO anime at this point since I don't think it's doing anything that cool.

Monster Musume is just good schlock if you really need me to use the word schlock. It doesn't suddenly shift tones super hard or anything. It just maintains being a pretty funny ecchi thing. It's good fun and you people disappoint me.

I started watching Overlord. My main question is
how does one have sex with a skeleton?

Also gave Gangsta a shot, eh, just not for me.

Getting a bone-r isn't a problem for skeletons.

Gangsta is more goody-goody than I was expecting, even if the MCs kill people. Kinda why I dropped it.

Nah, it's pretty terrible.

It's just typical harem garbage with a cardboard cutout MC.

if you want cute monster girl stuff, read T-REX NA KANOJO, much better than Musume.

Hopefully he doesn't get offended by the fancast.
Cause he found it even tho I tried to make it go unnoticed.

T-Rex na Kanojo is pretty damn good, even though its dinosaur monster girl setup is weirder than most monster girl things. Also, it's kinda weird seeing a story with a
male yandere
.

That said, Monster Musume's MC is actually an improvement on most harem MCs, who either have no libido or no balls and won't punch people who deserve it.

That said, I feel like the thing holding back monster girl stories is the fact that Kengou Cross has a monopoly on a ton of marketable character designs and type names. If you see the translated endcards for Monster Musume, where they show off monster girl subspecies, you'll notice that the names and designs have been getting worse and worse because they're trying to not do anything KC has done... which is difficult, because the man has done at least 2 variations on the public domain monster girls (lamias, centaurs, harpies, etc...).
