Scalebound was officially unveiled E3 2014.
That seems rather stupid given the excellent track record that Jason Schreier has.

"Great studios", i.e. studios that have had a mediocre/bad track record in recent years but in the past have produced great games.
It's business. If you don't perform, you don't survive. It sucks, but the Xbox division isn't doing great as is so it can't pump money into long-term projects in the hope that they recover like Sony does/can.

What have we seen though? We never saw the combat gameplay against regular enemies for any extended period of time. We've seen the unveiling, and an E3 demo where four people hit a giant boss that didn't react to them.

I believe Bayo 2 sold higher than Bayo 1 in its best selling platform. Obviously Bayo 1 will sell more on PS360 combined with Bomba bin prices.

This is such a rough break for Microsoft. This is the type of stuff where the developer holds a grudge and refuses to release a title for your platform until the end of time, like Level 5 did after True Fantasy Online - a decision made easier since Japanese centric titles tend to not sell overly well on Xbox.

Sadly this is true. The game never really looked like a coherent game, at least based on the footage they showed to the public.

True, it's the least exciting Platinum game in a while (MS knew what they were signing for). Would have killed for a Bayonetta on Xbox. Not buying a Nintendo console for one game.

I will be absolutely furious if this is true! This has been my most anticipated game since they first showed the CG trailer at E3. Wtf is going on... There's been way too many cancellations. Fable Legends/Lionhead closing, Project Knoxville/Press Play closing, Obsidian's RPG (MS has to regret this as Pillars of Eternity turned out to be a smash hit), Phantom Dust getting "different devs" (if it's not at this year's E3, I'm counting it as dead)... Come on MS, you gotta get this under control! :/

The only reason I think they keep going with Crackdown is because they sold the Halo 3 beta with the original. Crackdown 2 was unnecessary. But I REALLY like what I've seen from Crackdown 3, the little they've shown.
Nier being a turd is more unlikely than Nintendo buying Scalebound.
While this is true, given the current working relationship it would be easier to create a Bayonetta 3 than it would be to start talks to do any sort of Megaman project on Nintendo's dime, for example. That's also the reason it's more likely than Metroid: there's already a dedicated working studio that knows exactly what to do.

Microsoft seems to have poor understanding of what makes a game good- they just throw money at numerous projects and see what sticks. If it works, great, make more of that. If it doesn't, I guess these teenagers who buy games just aren't into that for whatever reason, we'll try something else. Nintendo and Sony do at least 'get it', and have a clear vision of the types of games they want to make and be associated with. They're much better at identifying and exploiting potential, wheras MS basically just mimics precedent. But MS came to the industry very late, and I'd expect them to be less clued-up than the competition.
If Scalebound is in trouble, then it's probably because Kamiya is taking forever and lots of money to craft an open world game, of which he, PG, and Japan generally have little experience in doing, but also I'd wager because MS simply doesn't know what it has on its hands, or the value of the pedigree behind it, and sadly see it simply as a lost cause rather than an opportunity to be salvaged.

I didn't like Drew (although I did like old Drew) and I expected something a bit flashier perhaps, but I was interested in the concept, have unwavering faith in Kamiya, and some of the more recent press previews suggested a new fathom of depth unsuccessfully conveyed in public videos to date. I'm confident Scalebound 'was' -and still could be- a great game.

Wish I could say I care but Scalebound looked awful. Looked like a game that would have made sense 10-15 years ago but not 2017.
