God she's going to do that "tilt head down and look up menacingly" move and I'll cringe and start to cry. I hate you all.
.
This will suck and miss any points in the source material.
Must be the same company that hired all those hot sexy teens for Dragon Ball dawZon's Creek
Not enough cleavage?Let me dream....
Bad as it was its better than some terrible 10 year old actor running around trying to play Goku in a Dragon Ball movie.
Well she definitely does not have to alter her talking speed or monotonous voice for this role.Sooooo.... she's just going to play Black Widow with a little bit of Lucy mixed in isn't she?
No i'd much rather have teen shit than have to watch two hours of someone like this playing Dragon Ball (not Z) Goku.No. No it's not. It was horrible. You need to watch it again.

Well, it is a Hollywood production. This will suck and miss any points in the source material.
They should try and get him for Batou. He would be perfect for that role if they give him the right wig.Wonder what Terry Crews has to say about this.

People are fucking silly if they think this woman can speak well enuff to head a big American production of a Japanese Manga done in English solo.
IDK wuts more racist, the racism people seem to be projecting onto this casting or the fact that people are begging for this woman even though she can't act well in English (and she doesn't even look like she can pull off the character. Scarjo has shown she has that type of character locked down) simply because she's the only Japanese woman they can think of.
I agree.
Has there even been many Japanese made live action adaptations of anime, manga, etc that are on par with the source material?
This is the opposite of good news everyone.
Ugh.
Well, it's good news for me

One day, Hollywood will grow some balls. Japanese source material, it would be innovative and amazing to have a hollywood production but the movie in Japanese with Asian actors.
Until then, we get stuck with the blonde with the raspy voice playing the major. ugh.
Who the fuck is gonna play aramaki? Togusa?
Ugh.
Here's an interview from 2013. Judge for yourselfIsn't that the girl from Pacific Rim? She spoke fluent English in that.
What is the actual point in that? Like seriously, a Japanese film industry exists, if that's the end goal your better off hoping the Japanese film industry gets more international acclaim and larger budgets.
Casting Japanese actors in role portraying Japanese actors makes sense, even speaking Japanese with some subtitles, but having the entire cast in Japanese while speaking Japanese seems like a redundant request for Hollywood.
I mean the Gantz live action films was one of the successful Japanese movies in Japan, it's not as if they can't produce these movies themselves.
Simply put, the production value that Hollywood could bring as well as distribution would be the key difference between the Japanese industry producing this and Hollywood.
Let me dream....
Which they mainly have because they produce the film in English... Making the movie Japanese means it is mostly marketed at the Japanese market.Simply put, the production value that Hollywood could bring as well as distribution would be the key difference between the Japanese industry producing this and Hollywood.
Production value alone does not a good movie make (which is essentially the whole point of this argument). Also the reason why you don't get such movies made in first place in Hollywood is because predicted gross of such a movie wouldn't warrant a large production value.
Your far better off hoping the Japanese film industry becomes more profitable and thus an increase in budgets than have Hollywood essentially just makes Japanese movies with a larger budget. It's like clamouring for Hollywood to make, Bollywood, Nollywood or whatever have you movies. It's superfluous.
