It would need to crash on every single end and that's simply not happening. Instead, talent is being scooped up into other, smaller companies who are budgeting better. Companies that most of GAF are unaware of until they have a breakout hit. Companies that myself and others here keep trying to tell people "Hey, you should maybe pay attention to these guys because they're doing what you want".
It can sometimes be frustrating, much like how people skip out on good indie movies in favor of the next Star Wars project, just to hate-watch that instead.
I think people eventually need to stop associating the old pillars like EA, Ubi, Activision, etc. with 'The industry' as a whole. From the beginning of this gen up until now, gaming has shown to be fine with or without them during their dryest years and will continue to live long beyond any of them collapsing.
