Seahawks vs Cardinals with the potential NFL game of the year

what is funny is that people are going to say "omfg terrible! this is why viewership is down!"

no. what you have is the nfl/fantasy football has set an expectation of higher scores. high scorin'! that's what people want. the NFL grew their market by roping in a bunch of people who are just casual fans, want to see some TD's, drink some beer, and so on. the hardcore NFL fan very likely enjoyed this throw back game. i thought it was entertaining and the good defense was ACTUALLY good defense, not completely inept offenses that couldn't get out of their own way. yes, both offenses missed some opportunities but it was the defenses that deserve the praise.

the missed fg's at the end though...
I dunno, three missed field goals and no touchdowns. More punts (15) than points scored combined (12). I don't think people mind tight games with lower scores, but this just seemed poorly played. Granted I only watched the last few minutes, but still.

This wasn't an old school defensive slug fest. This was slop. Pure slop. It was brutal to watch. Both teams looked like garbage and made tons unforced errors.

but point to where it was some pathetic offensive performance and not the defenses exerting their will.

as for the missed fgs, yes, the two in OT were bad. the missed fg early for the cards was a great (illegal) play by wagner.

the real sloppiness came at the end of the first half for the cards. they had a potential fg in hand and had poor clock managements.

the "old school defensive slug fests" you remember were riddled with god awful missed offensive opportunities and sloppy play. but rose tinted glasses and what not

LMAO

Gif is priceless, lol.

What a shit game. This season has been terrible.

As far as I can tell this is like only the sixteenth game to ever end in a 6-6 tie and the last one was back in '72 when the Cardinals were still in StL.

People may think this game dull or boring because of the lack of offense, but I still find these defense/ST driven games entertaining than that atrocious Oklahoma v. Texas Tech game, or any big 12 game for that matter.

Also for max hilarity the Cardinals should have tried an 80 yd FG at the end.

I just caught the OT and as someone with no vested interest in either team, it was pretty funny watching the dueling place kickers choke. The look of sheer relief and joy on the face of the Cardinals kicker after his counterpart shanked the OT winner was amazing.

The Big 12 is an anomaly where defense is non existent. You don't win games with defense in the Big 12. You throw for 800+ yards by yourself and bd your team's leading rusher and still lose

Which is exactly why Big 12 football is unwatchable (unless Iowa State is choking in hilarious fashion)

And I say this as someone who generally prefers college football to the NFL.

Except it won't be an anomaly if people get their way. The rules are already slanted in the offense's favor, and they want to make it even harder on the defense?

Makes me wonder how the Arena League isn't a juggernaut since people apparently only care about one side of the football.

As a Rams fan, I approve of a tie between these two teams. It's as close to the "can't both teams just lose" wish.

Oh and as shitty as we are this year, we beat both these teams already this year.

Bruce Arians is such a whiner. At least Pete can say that was a weird ass game and that's that. Bruce has to complain about bs just to suggest that something was unfair with the game.

The reactions to the missed FGs really show the difference between the two.

It's really only that way in the Big 12 it seems. Pac 12 Chaos is fun, I'll stay up 4 hours for that shit. Big 12 is a hell hole where you know who will win, you just don't know if the score will equal 145 or not. I like defense in college. Or what is called defense there.

Insane defense by Seattle but their offensive line is an atrocity. Sad they only tied considering the final drive but I thought they lost the game about 10 times so I will take it

Game was pathetic.

I know these are two teams with great defenses, but these two offenses were just abysmal. The game was so ugly.

I wonder if the kickers shared an uber to get drunk together after the game. No one understands us! *takes another shot* I love you man. I love you too.

I didn't watch this game, but what is going on with the NFL? My interest in it right now is at an all-time low and I can't really pinpoint why. It does seem like offenses have been stagnating some and maybe that has something to do with it.

Can some NFL guru clarify whether those 2 plays where field goals were missed, but influenced by the dude jumping over were legal?

Offenses are bad, a lot of marquee players retired recently, there are a lot of injuries to the remaining known stars, and the whole CTE issue kind of has everyone questioning whether they can morally support a game that is dramatically shortening the lifespan of everyone who plays it. It's a pretty big problem for the NFL; within our lifetimes, we may not have football anymore.

Watch saints games. Saints offense will be beasting as well as whoever is playing against our defense.

As a niners fan its just tough to get excited about football when your team is just terrible , i dont know the NFL is the league of parity but when your a fan of the 49ers, Browns, Rams, its tough to cheer week in and week out.

This game was one of the greatest of all time. Not just for the lulz but it was actually a defensive battle.

Its the 2016 Seahawks version of this...

February 1st 2015 Super Bowl

I don't think tying a regular season game is probably comparable to losing a superbowl on an interception in the waning seconds of the game.

On the topic of NFL stagnating, yeah, I haven't really been following as closely this year. Every single Monday night game I've watched has looked like some garbage Browns vs. Bills fuckball. Doesn't help that the MLB post-season has been one of the best in decades.
