Seahawks vs Cardinals with the potential NFL game of the year

I like seeing a good defense put in work, but too much of a good thing...

This week was straight fuckery. If I hadn't been put through the wringer of the Vikings-Eagles first quarter and Falcons-Chargers OT
still mad about that
, this game would have been hilarious. Instead I was watching those last two drives like MST3K watching The Wild World of Batwoman.

The reactions that came out of this are priceless though, so if nothing else I'm thankful for that.

I just moved to Seattle and decided to follow their teams since people seem to be into sports up here. Are the Seahawks having a weird season or are they always like this?

You should become a Sounders fan.

After all, Seattle is the soccer capital of America (TM).

Why are NFL ratings down?

6-6 tie in the Sunday-night game.
Brock "The Check Down" Osweiler versus Trevor Siemian in the Monday-night game.
Jacksonville Jaguars versus Tennessee Titans in the Thursday-night game.

Thanks, Kaepernick.

How is it game of the year if it ended in tie?

That was some soccer level shit. And by soccer level shit, I mean boring.

I just can't deal with this.

Please stop.

Every person who said this to me at work this morning got me so angry.

Incompetent kickers and funny reactions aside it was a very good game. I liked it. It was a defensive stalemate between 2 division rivals. There was a lot of quality play and it felt like a playoff game from start to finish.

People who think shit defense and high scoreboards = good game clearly don't know anything about the sport.

I have been a Seahawks fan since 2003, and I can tell you that this is normal, however the new feeling of shame and embarrassment when we inevitably snatch victory from a deserving team in the last ten seconds of a game, is a new twist.

But yes, dull as it was in some respects, it was a historically fascinating defensive grind. The Somme wasn't boring, and neither was this atrocity.

I didn't start watching until about the 4th quarter, it was still 3-0 Arizona.

It was amazing and bad at the same time.

Catching the overtime of this game was exactly what I needed after feeling mentally run through the ringer from The Walking Dead premier. Admittedly, I missed the entirety of the "defensive struggle" during regulation, but I got to enjoy the hilarity of the kickers missing point blank attempts, and the reactions of all the coaches and players (and announcers).

Yeah it was a crazy game capped off by an absolutely bananas overtime. Still can't believe that 2 point blank field goals were missed, probably a .5% chance of that happening.

Exactly. I'm sure Kaep has had a negative impact to some degree but the bigger issue is the lack of quality matches in prime time, poor play in general, and the pace of games. SNF usually has good matches while MNF gets stiffed...that needs to change, both need a mixture of good/interesting games. Also I'd shit can TNF. Get rid of it and spread better games around on Sunday and Monday.

The bigger issue to me is poor play/officiating and pace. How many games become a slog due to endless flags for things that don't really impact a play, like hands to the face? This makes games even longer. Then you have the slog of huddling, calling plays, etc.

I'd love to see 10 seconds taken off the snap clock. That alone would significantly speed up the pace of games and put a clear emphasis on good QB play/command, good coaching, and time management. Offense has so many advantages as is, going from 40 to 30 seconds shouldn't be a major problem.

The kickers obviously missed because their balls didn't have enough air pressure. The Patriots were possibly generally aware of this so they are being forced to forfeit the rest of their season as punishment.

Good. Goodell deserves this crap for ruining the game. I'm surprised they didn't stop the kick halfway through to insert another 3 minutes of commercials.

The fourth quarter and overtime took over 90 minutes to complete.

People must love watching commercials to get through to the end of these shitty games.

You're not always going to get the best game even when you have good teams slotted. I mean lasts night's game on paper looked great back in July. This happens every year, good teams fall off but they're slotted in prime time spots. Getting rid of Thursday night football, even though I want more prime time games, is a good first step. Everyone hates it, everyone but the money guys that is.

I actually like your idea of decreasing the clock, I feel that all teams should be in no huddle, that's why I fucking loved the 90s Bills. It was go go go, same with Manning and the Colts. Thought the league was going to transition over, but the pace has slowed down. Coaching in the league is poor, most teams can't get it together.

I hate penalties that are called away from the play, a big return negated because a guy was holding on the other side of the field, shit like that gets to me. The refs are terrible, I'm not sure what the league can do about, it's frustrating to watch.

Both teams balled out on D last night, the problems is that DL > OL talent. Last night wasn't an issue in my book, it was one of those rare D battles. Wilson is hurt so he can't improvise like he normally does. If you're a talented big man that can move, you're playing DL these days, they're no longer thought of as space eaters that clog up the middle. This has negatively impacted OL and QB protection, CBA/FA has also exasperated the issue.

As soon as Seattle tied the game during regulation, I had a hunch the game would end in a draw. Offenses stank, special teams stank, and destiny ran its course.

It was the horrible officiating, tons of penalties, horrible O-line play, and endless commercials that had me almost tap out before OT. Even as a Hawks fan, that was painful to watch.

Seems like a lot of kickers have been missing kicks this year. It might be because Gostkowski has been off this year and I didn't notice when they moved the extra point back, but it seems like a lot of kickers have had a hard time as of late.

Ratings are down because a shit ton of people are now streaming the games.

Yeah I used the NBC Sports app on the XB1 to watch this game. No ads, too, it just has an image that says "Coverage will resume shortly" when commercials are playing.

Boring ass game except for OT, but that's the Seahawks.
