Yes, I missed the opportunity years ago to buy the console for 25€, because I was disappointed by the emulations performance. In the meantime, the Classic has caught up with me and I've been wanting to get a new one for my collection, but I haven't found one at a reasonable price. Today my girlfriend surprised me with a "brand new" Playstation Classic from eBay, but noted that the shipping package smelled musty and I should check if everything is okay with the console. Easier said than done, how can you find out if the contents of the "unopened" packaging is okay or even present? The only way I could think of is to ask for opinions here in the forum full of experts.
Maybe someone has an unopened Playstation Classic from the retail store sitting around that you can be sure everything is right with and can tell me something about my seals and weight.

Well I've nothing to compare it with but I think you'd be pretty sure to have some discolouration or running of ink/warping of the box if anything inside the thing produced a 'musty' smell.. maybe it was just stored in a basement..

That's of course a possibility.
I, as a misanthrope, naturally think directly bad of strangers and assume that all eBay dealers are scammers, so I had the thought that maybe the seller sells cat litter or expanded clay in the original box and provides this with new seals, since he probably sells the console specifically as "for collectors" and could assume that the buyer will never open the unopened packaging anyway. Therefore, it would be interesting for me to know if the seals and the weight correspond to a "safe" Playstation Classic.

why don't u get an exacto knife and slice through some glue on one of the edges of the box or something, see if you can very carefully separate a flap and have a peek?

if you bought from ebay than just open it. ebay will refund you if the item isnt as advertised. as long as the feedback score of the seller was good, than its most likely as advertised and real.

With EBay you never know who knows what the seller did we can only guess.
What you needed to do if you’re this paranoid was go directly to the store shelf. Based off those pictures I see no issue. We see eBay sellers open items all the time, put items back in box and still classify it as “new” but opened so it’s technically not “new” to some buyers and that can bother people.

That's the predicament everyone who keeps original shrink-wrapped or sealed things finds themselves in.
I recently bought a game (Berserk - Band of the Hawk PS4) and the disc was loose in the packaging. I had to fiddle around a bit until the disc snapped securely back into the holder without damaging the film.
But no one knows if the disc is now full of scratches and/or no longer works.


I still need to find someone who weights their mint PS Classic European version. Anybody?

Nah. Getting it for $25 adding retro boot that let's you add to thr carosul and retro arch, is great. I have a USB stick with 130 ps1 games, Nes/snes/genesis and tg16 collections, psp games, and source ports of hardware accelerated half life, and quake. For 25 it's a great value. If they released a better mini sure it would of had better emulation, but it would of never gotten so cheap. The retro boot replaces the emulation with different bios and plug-ins.

It's great for $20-40 when it was on sale. Not worth more than that though.

I gave one of my buddies a second one I bought as a general emulation station.

Not the world I would use to describe this "console". As a collector's item it may be interesting especially since it's already going up in value, as something you'd want to spend some time with playing - nah.

I'm not interested in playing with it, got my SCPH-1002 for that.

Put it in your pocket. Say you have a cough and can feel liquid in your lungs. Go for a chest xray and just when they are about to get the shot put it in front of you. Done.

On its own it's not great, but with a little time/effort, it makes a very nice emulation box. I would say it's probably the best $20 I have ever spent gaming wise. Mine has 10000 games on it from pretty much every system up to PS2, arcade games, even those old-school LCD games like the Game & Watch series.

Except for the hands on the hips, this is 100% the case. But I will definitely take the pose at the next appreciation session, sounds awesome.

On its own it's not great, but with a little time/effort, it makes a very nice emulation box. I would say it's probably the best $20 I have ever spent gaming wise. For $20 it's not bad at all. But any price over that...There's better boxes that do more and better if one was inclined to get into the emulation scene. It def. won't be a collectible by any other than insanely die-hard fans which, would probably still prefer the real thing or better ways to play the same games by the time this thing would accumulate any type of value.

But for me personally it is not about profit, I do not intend to sell the device at some point for profit. I want to have it. I am happy about that.
I also don't understand how people have fun with certain things, but I don't have to. And just as little do I have to give my opinion everywhere without being asked.
