Shadow of Mordor deserves more attention. Come in and be hyped with me.

Are there any crazy resolution discrepancy between consoles?

They haven't actually talked much about the tech side unfortunately. They've said the PS4 version is definitely 1080p and they're trying to get it to 60fps (this was a couple of months ago so who knows if they reached that or not), and they didn't say anything about the XB1 version.

Not to sound mean but this game or at least the videos are absolutely boring. I found myself nodding off at the ign video and the rat-guy video. The explanation of the different hierarchy of orcs seems so meaningless since they all will fall by my blade. I think i will pass on this game

I think it might be because they spend so much time in the menus in these videos to show the nemesis system and that doesn't always translate very well when you're just watching. I'd say give the game a chance when it's released and check some opinions of trusted people.

New PAX preview from Gamespot. Shows the PS4 version:

Thanks for the link, it was a great watch. It's always good to see people getting excited and talking about how their experiences with a game differed from one another's. That diversity is not something you see very often in games these days.

The game is definitely a day one for me.

The nemesis system sounds pretty cool. But is it all the game has?

The world itself looks kind of boring.
Do you just run around and terrorize orcs from bottom to top? That would be really disappointing if that's all it was.

No, there's exploration and collectibles and hunts and stuff. I wish they would show that side, too, though.

HMMM, I have already preordered on PSN.. but I'm really starting to get worried about the lack of Vsync in the current builds that have been shown. Between this new PAX footage and the IGN footage.. man.. not good. If anyone is at PAX and can ask a dev, or has any info at all on whether or not the game will ship with a locked Vsync, please share.

I typically will not buy a game with Vsync disabled. In the case of a console version shipping that way I would just buy the PC version, but with no way to cancel a PSN reserve, I just hope it turns out well.. Especially since all the footage up until about 3 weeks ago had zero tearing.

I spent sooo many hours in the challenge rooms of the Arkham games, playing around with the game flow and enjoying the many different parameters and restrictions.

SoM seems like it's going to be just like that... only open world, procedural and emergent. If they get the interlocking systems and flow right, this looks golden even if the Nemesis system is 'all there is to it'.

Do not worry, friend. This is Neogaf. BELIEVE!

I hope that this game does well. I would love a stronger sequel that improves in the areas that this will be lacking (whatever they are).

Edit:
In that gamespot video where he describes "disconnecting them from the matrix". SO DOPE

Pretty much.

I believe the game is going to have a similar challenge/survival mode as well. Really can't wait for this.

I don't care if it is the same studio that makes this game (which i deff would prefer) or a diff company that looks at this game and says "damn that nemesis system is kickass" but SOMEONE, someone has to use this nemesis system and make a Mafia/gangster game using it. It with out a doubt would probably be one of the greatest mafia games ever. Either you are a cop undercover in the mob and use the mafia system to slowly disintegrate the family from within, or your a mafia member working your way up. Someone needs to implement this NOW.

Or a new Way Of The Samurai or Yakuza Ishin that's basically a remake of Yojimbo.

Oh yeah, that would be awesome!

Oh my GOODNESS. Gamespot is having a PAX stream and I am watching a story mission with some caves/caverns and it looks AMAZING.

The stream is here. You can backtrack to look at stuff that already aired, and the story mission starts at 1:24:30. It doesn't really show much anything really in terms of the actual story and it's only a few minutes but they said how you can go in the caves and find collectibles and stuff at your own leasure, and they look so good.

Nice, this game is in my top 6 to get this year.

Thanks for highlighting that part of the stream; the game continues to look great. They mention cave monsters that you have to get before they withdraw into their holes and summon swarms that'll ambush you... That's interesting actually because people were wondering upthread if you could just juggernaut through the entire game without being subtle. Design choices like that encourage different approaches and playstyles.

Already pre-ordrered
I have high hope for this game
Preview seems to confirm a game with scale and original game mechanics with good art style (imo). Story seems correct if not lotr hardcore fan and voice acting feature strong names
I wish it deliver

Just look at presentation (1h ign and others) we have here a game where there is more things to show than somehting generic and graphic.

Awesome indeed. Nice to see a new area.

Cool to see a new environment. Really liked the lighting once he got deeper into the cave.

I'm super keen for this game, except I have to worries:

1. A shit port to PC
2. Open world repetitiveness.

Other than that, I think the game should be awesome. Kinda wish they had a cool collectors edition with a statue etc.

This is something I am currently most worried about, but otherwise I am quite excited for this game. Definitely needs more attention.

glad i had a oppurtunity to play this game it seems to have infinite replay value solely due to the nemesis system, even seeing other orcs take out other ones due to internal conflicts is pretty cool...it seems to be always changing....man i hope more people come that feature lol

I was wondering are there actual trolls in this games, I know there's Graugs and they eat trolls for breakfast. Another question does the game have any of the music from the films ? I hope the Mordor theme is in the game as its so iconic !

I will be fucking devastated if this game isn't received well because of its flaws. I hope its solid, so I can pick it up for my Bday!!!

I cant help but remember that vid that was comparing all the similarities to Assasins Creed. If it ends up being AC with a LOTR skin, im gonna be bummed. Some of the new elements sound promising though.

Archive of an hour and a half long stream Playstation did of the game. Some good info in there.

Man, that assault on the five captains looked great and challenging. The dev didn't manage to pull it off either.

I'm impressed how they managed to turn the fail state into another piece of emergent gameplay, with the guys who defeat you re-arranging the Nemesis line-up and opening up revenge missions.

Time to sacrifice a goat to the God of PC Ports. I really hope Monolith gets that right.

Just preordered this with Dragon Age Inquisitor this week, really looking forward to both. Monolith and Snowblind Studious has treated me well in the past so I got no worries that this should be fun and play well.

I have 2 wishes for this game, odd's of them happening are probably 50/50 each.

1: Please don't be shit

2: Please don't make me go into Shelobs lair. I could barely handle it in 2003 fuzzy Xbox-O-Vision. I can't handle that place with PS4 visuals.

Heh, I'd be very surprised if the Tower of Cirith Ungol wasn't in there...and you can't really do Mordor without Shelob, right? She was there before the Dark Lord himself.

Tbh I am just hoping they forget about it or something. If I wasn't arachnophobic I would be outraged if they left it out. Shareplay woulda come in handy here.

Maybe the tower will be in it but not the tunnel? Has there been any mention of Minas Morgul?
