Shadow of Mordor deserves more attention. Come in and be hyped with me.

damn that story trailer made me really interested, i need a good plot and characters to carry me through looong games. As i find gameplay can get a bit repetitive. im more interested in this game. Not sure i will have time for it with Destiny though, but I really want to try this.

Pre ordered on US psn.
Preload is available for this game aswell.

Seems arbitrary. The PC version is available for pre-order with a high probability of a pre-load option, just hasn't gone live yet.

PS4 PS4 PS4!

Why though? Is there some kind of benefit to the PS4 version I am not aware of?

I would say buy it on the system you will enjoy the most. Have a beefy rig and want to downsample at 120 FPS? PC. Have a weak computer and prefer to play on the couch
assuming you do not have an HTPC or in-home streaming set up
? PS4. Want forwards compatibility and any control type? PC.

I would imagine running this game at 1440p or 4K wouldn't be difficult.

Exclusive content? :) Idk, I'm just looking for something bigger play on my PS4 these days.

I've got my Xbone copy pre-ordered, and can't wait to play it. I've always loved Monolith as a delevoper (because of FEAR, Condemned, Blood) so I know they'll release a quality product.

The reason i asked is because i want to think i have a pretty beefy PC but i dont know the specs yet. And if it chugs a little bit on pc, i am sure the ps4 version will be silky smooth.

So what are all the pre order exclusive or editions of this game? I saw something about a Ranger(outfit? class?) pre order bonus at the end of the story trailer, is that it? If I just pre order at Toys R Us(have a promo) am I set?

Fair point, I tend to find such content derivative, but that is a subjective opinion on my part.

I doubt they will be an issue for considering this game is cross platform.

Sometimes you will have to turn down the ridiculous amounts of AA or AO from maximum. Some developers include ridiculous settings to keep the high-end users happy.

The Ranger skin is included with all pre-orders

It's like I stumbled in an alexandros thread, masterful

Honestly, I was replying to him initially with zero thought behind it. Just felt like typing.

But exclusive content is a legitimate thing to consider sometimes. Here's PS4's exclusive content.

Edit: Wow, beaten by seconds.

Edit 2:

Also, if you have a PC that can run it, the B/S/T thread has some amazing deals (Less than $30 for the game)

Cool thanks, is that a "special edition" or just a general PS exclusive? by reading the article it seems if I pre order the PS4 version anywhere I get all the extras then it looks like. If I get it it would be for PS4 anyways.

Does he tend to recommend buying for whatever system you enjoy? I honestly don't know.

Saw some extremely arbitrary answers, so was trying to get to the bottom of it.

Ha, no problem.

I7 3770? 670? Lol

PC requirements have gotten out of control. I wish there were some way to standardize the system as these are complete bullshit.

I guess it depends on what those recommended specs get you. Everything maxed, 1080p, some aa, solid 60fps? That's not so bad.

Damn, that was SUPER cool.

They started the stream with saving some low-level orc, spent an hour killing orcs higher up in the hierarchy so the low-leveled orc moves up in rank. He ends up being a war chief all thanks to the player's work and they end the stream by taking him down.

The Nemesis system is way more intricate than I thought, it's pretty amazing. Also the combat looked much better than I expected, it's super fluent with tons of different take down animations and contextual stuff.

That was awesome.

Agree to disagree here, I've had no problems so far running these current-gen games at 1080p/60 on a 5 year old system with minimal settings adjustments. I'll report back with how this game runs, but, unless it is extremely unoptimized a 670 is overkill.

Recommend settings shouldn't reference maxing the game out, but running the game adequately at higher settings. Chasing maximum settings is an exercise in insanity.

Is it press x for awesome similar to Assassin's Creed? Or does it have some depth?

Thats true, thanks for the help.

Thank you, this is why i considered the pc version in the first place, just in case the game happens to be slightly not what i was expecting (which i doubt it will)

Steam store page actually says a 660 for recommended specs instead of the 670 they have listed. Not sure if specs are still in flux at this point but not too awful for recommended specs. Hopefully it will at least run better than an Ubisoft game.

That's more in line with what to expect from a cross-gen title. A 670 as recommended would make sense for heavy hitters such as Ryse, Batman Arkham Knight or The Witcher 3.

I would agree that a 660 is more acceptable. Hopefully the engine is multi-threaded.

I would say its more like Batman, X is kind of the dodge/jump over enemies batman kind of thing and triangle is counter similiar to how batman does it.

I will probably hook up the DS4 for this then, playing Bat man with M/KB was not as intuitive.

First I'm seeing of this game really - a couple of questions.

1. The map they're showing in this live demo - is that just one zone available or is that the whole playing area? It looks pretty big but it's tough to judge from the map alone.

2. In that last fight he was fighting like 5 or 6 named dudes but it looked kind of.. easy? Like AC type counter and attacks - is that just the difficulty they're playing on?

3. That menu where you see all the dudes and their relationships to one another - is the "objective" to kill everyone on that screen?

Sorry if those are basic questions, as I said, haven't seen much of it before.

1. Dont really know much about the Map size.

2. They said they took 50% of the "strength/power" from the named guys for this demo.

3. I think the objective is to dominate them and create a Army that fights Sauron with you but not really sure how this is implemented in the Story missions.

1. IIRC, there are 3 different zones, but they're showing us the first only;

2. Sure thing the enemies are dumbed down for these demos. And they confirmed there are no difficulties (as in Easy-Normal-Hard) in the game.

3. Its purpose is to illustrate the hierarchy of Mordor's armies, and plan power struggles or treasons or whatever we want to do to build our army.

Does this only take place in Mordor or do you get to go to other parts of Middle Earth as well?

Exclusively in Mordor.

With regards to 3 - so this manipulation is a means to an end? There's also an overarching story of which this is just a part?

Yeah, without spoiling too much, let's just say that your goal is to build an army by bending Sauron's to your will and thus bring the fight to him. This is where the Nemesis system comes into play, but of course it's also used to create a more living environment with enemies who remember you and are angry at/afraid of you if they've already made your not so pleasant acquaintance. All of this is mixed with procedurally generated foes, each with his own strengths and weaknesses. I suggest you take a look at some footage, E3 had some good ones, as they're basically spoiler free. The last 2 or 3 trailers, well avoid them if you don't want any story detail.

the map doesnt seem that big is there more to it or is that it? First time I am paying attention to this game and it looks great, watching a lot of video about it now, but it seems like it may get dry fast and the map seems and little undersized dont you think?

Ah thanks man! Appreciate it

I am liking what I'm seeing, but I'm still going to wait for reviews, then I may jump on it, especially if GMG and the like have a 25% coupon or something for it.

Really looking forward to this, everything they show is great. I'm just afraid I won't have the extra funds to spend or the time after Destiny. But I do really want this

So what does GAF think of this game? Me and my girlfriend want a couch game that she can watch + help me play, similar to something like Red Dead and stuff.

I'm interested in this game and so is she but the last game we played through was Watch_Dogs and that was quite frankly Dog_Shit.

Very, very interested in this game, but will be watching for reviews and user impressions before buying. Just in case it's another Watchdogs.

Buying this day one. I love lord of the rings, and I will always support Monolith, they are an amazing developer that has been a under the radar for too long now.

This game has a "season pass". As far as I'm concerned, "season pass" = "zero hype". The words basically mean: Please wait for us to release the final game in 6 months or so.
