Shadow of Mordor deserves more attention. Come in and be hyped with me.

Nolan North and Troy Baker make me much more interested in the game. Maybe this could be like Batman: Arkham Asylum a game that surprises everyone.

Thankfully, he's showing some range in this one and not doing the "Nolan North" voice.

Nolan North voice? He is in so many games with many different voices where you can't even recognize him unless you see it in the credits.

True enough, but for the longest time he did seem really lazy. There is very little difference between Drake, Desmond and The Prince for example.

I was shocked when he showed off his range in The Last of Us

Not to mention the Saints Row series, in which there is an actual eponymous voice option.

It's not that he's incapable of range, just that I've only recently begun seeing it.

I don't think it was laziness. I think it was a matter of other developers just wanting him to do that Nathan Drake everyman style voice.

I am still conflcited on getting this or Dragon Age first, then the other at a discount later. They both look very enjoyable.

How utterly bizarre to write that off as "laziness". You realise voice actors have directors who tell them how to deliver their lines, right?

Pre-ordered and ready to go on PS4. Love the little countdown for the game in my library. Very nice touch. (I just got the PS4 today and am picking up on these little things.)

No one criticizes Robert Downey Jr. for using his "Robert Downey Jr." voice. These guys are great actors, some of the best working in games. Just like with films, I'm fine with seeing great actors take on a variety of different roles, even if many of those roles are just different shades of a similar persona.

Pre-ordered, because of this thread. I had previously thought that Lords of the Fallen would be my action RPG for this winter but the op's description of this game and seeing a few gameplay videos convinced me to go with this one. Hopefully it is a lot more varied then just, 'hunt down the orc leader.'

Just go to the "Robert Downey Jr. signed for the Assassin's Creed movie" (which is a rumor, by the way), and people still find a way to make it look negative haha. "Oh he's just gonna play as RDJ"

I am cautiously optimistic, what I have seen looks great and extremely player driven but at the same time I feel that its still a canned experience being pumped up to be more. All the previews I have read revolve around Ratbag, which if this game delivers on its promise I could kill way before hand and never see by the time this mission would crop up. If the game delievers on that promise then I'm all in.

Hadn't seen the pew video before, or any of his videos really, and the game looked great. I also love his hair. Cawk daym I can't wait. Any word if we'll get a demo?

this game looks really great, cant wait to play it. I had actually forgotten about it for a while, but its definitely on my radar now. I feel like this is one of the underdogs of the Fall for sure, but I think it will be fantastic

It looks like it may end up being great. I missed it at E3, though, so I haven't had any personal hands-on time with it.

Its similarities to Assassin's Creed and licensed nature worry me a bit, but I definitely want to play it. It's just disappointing that it's also coming out during the onslaught that will be November 18.

They couldn't have delayed it until December?

Only the PS360 versions were delayed into November. The PC and PS4/X1 versions are still releasing end of September/early October (depending on your region and platform of choice).

Stupid me. Looks like I missed the "last-gen" part when I skimmed the news post and its press release. I've had a lot on my mind, though.

Thanks for the note. I'm glad it's still coming out soon. I'll actually have time to play it, while alternating with Forza Horizon 2.

Wow, I just realized this game is coming out in about two weeks, guys. I mean, I knew when it was coming out, but I didn't think about how close it really was. This is insane.

I'm still not entirely sold on this game. I've never been big into LOTR, and I can't really tell if this will be a good game in its own right.

Same here and i even consider myself a Lotr fan. Unfortunately this game has the setting of my least fav part of the entire lotr, the mordor.

I wish there was some lighthearted content and colorful settings in the game.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Now Playing (Gamespot)

An hour long look at Mordor over at Gamespot. This just looks better every time I see it.

I hope their isn't some kind of backlash from players expecting something like a straight-forward brawler, like the PS2-era LOTR games.

The good thing is that there's just been SO much gameplay showing the sides of combat and progression and how it relates to the Nemesis system, that I don't think anybody is going to get confused about what the game is.

However, I'd actually like to see more of the exploration and collectible side of the game, which is something they've said plays a big part but they just haven't shown yet.

Oh, absolutely. Monolith and Warner Bros. have been up front with the game. I didn't mean to imply this would be a Brutal Legend-type situation, where they kept a core part of the game secret out of the fear it could turn away sales.

It's just people can be fickle. The nemesis system looks intuitive, but it's new territory (which is why I'm sure lots of folks here are excited for it!). I've never seen anything like it any game. It could be overwhelming. Then again, we don't know how the game is paced yet. I guess we'll find out in two weeks!

I haven't seen many videos for this game, however I'm very Interested,Im just wondering if you get new Armour as you go through the game?

It doesn't need to have stats but just an Aesthetic change while you progress and get more powerful?

Im really excieted for this game, but you just made me insanely nostalgic for the PS2 Lord of the Rings games. God dammit I loved the Two Towers. (Fanghorn <3)

I know what you mean. I just recently bought Two Towers and Return of the King on eBay a month or so ago, and those games still hold up really well. Even these days the production value of those games is through the roof.

So excited for this game, it has been far too long since we have gotten a good LotR game, and equally far too long since we have had something from Monolith outside of their smaller offerings.

Thanks for posting this. Some notes from the video since it is so long:

- Ratbag started as just another enemy created by the nemesis system and then got promoted to a full on story character.
- Building the game to the strengths of each system but the "experience" will be the same. They are only working on the PS4/XB1/PC versions.
- Last gen version keeping the "essence" of the Nemesis system as much as possible.
- You can see what Orc you got a rune from. More powerful and better prepared enemies drop better runes.
- Combat and animation continue to look fantastic!
- Feldush, best Orc name ever?
- No story missions have been shown yet, only Nemesis system stuff.
- Shadowstep continues to look awesome. I love how you are basically aiming yourself with a bow.
- 40+ hours of gameplay.
- Map can be controlled with DS4 touchpad.
- DS4 speaker is used for multiple things
like when you use wraith powers
.
- No Kinect functionality.
- Button prompts can be turned off.

The way that guy said Galadriel is just so wrong.

Huh, bit annoying that they're doing PS4 specific features and ignoring the Kinect...

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled to GAF when the game drops. If the community response to the game is positive, I'll be sure to give this a go. This went from "licensed game, no interest" to "whoa, probably buying this".

Troy Baker = Lead Character?

Nolan North = Lead Villain?

And I've just heard that Monolith are supposedly god-tier when it comes to enemy AI?

Sweet Jesus, at th 40th minute he FINALLY confirms that this is only one part of the game world and there is more to Mordor than just this area.

Thank god.

Currently I'm not really interested in the game, but if the reviews are positive, I'll have a look eventually. It has the potential of a sleeper hit, but so far, I'm more interested in other upcoming releases.

I sort of remember them saying there would be 3 big areas. I hope their version of the land surrounding Mount Doom looks as great and desolate as in the movies.
