Hope you got the right month, September only has 30 days.
Not in Mordor.

I approve.I'll humbly resubmit my suggestion, which is a little less on-the-nose:
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor |OT| Boromir Was Wrong
Good thing this is not AssCreed then.Hate asscreed, love the Lotr IP.
Very unsure right about now

Same developer as Condemned, No One Lives Forever, and FEAR, lead writer of RDR takes helm of the writing here with a similar mission structure to that game, and a unique gameplay mechanic in the form of the Nemesis system, where every little "grunt" in the world is unique, remembers you, and has the ability to get promoted from the lowest peon to a full-on warchief, whether dynamically or through actions you take. Also, although it's available on last-gen, Monolith is working ONLY on PS4, XB1, and PC, while another studio is working PS3 and 360 versions, and those won't have the full feature-set of this game that the new gen provides. Also, the developers seem very confident about the game, and have shown hours and hours of gameplay, while also not revealing much about the story or the story missions.
wait they made condemned & NOLF?
why didnt they put this in their boxart lol. would have preordered the day it was announced
excite++
To be fair, the team that created those games was much different to the Monolith that is there today.
Yup, I'm guessing totally different teams until the Mobygames page is updated after release. Michael de Plater, the design director here, hasn't worked on Monolith games before, was design director on LOTR War in the North and creative director on a couple of Tom Clancy games. Some Monolith developers went on to Blackpowder games who had worked on previous games (Craig Hubbard, Brad Pendleton, David Longo, C. Wes Saulsberry III, Blake Hirsch) up to Gotham City Impostors. To be fair, the team that created those games was much different to the Monolith that is there today.

Not to mention varietyExcluding spider and human enemies would be a massive missed opportunity from both gameplay and lore perspectives.

I'm expecting disappointment in this regard, because they haven't shown much else. A recent game like Destiny, all the enemies were known well beforehand. But who knows, it would be awesome if there is so much more that they haven't revealed until the game's actually out.Excluding spider and human enemies would be a massive missed opportunity from both gameplay and lore perspectives.

I hope there is more than just orcs in this game - LOTR universe had so many diverse races, creatures and characters, from Elves, Dwarves, to various human races, to the beasts in the world. As you say it would be a massive missed opportunity to not include these
Oh now I remember those enemies that only come out at night. And how certain targets are vulnerable to certain enemies.During the Gamespot gameplay session the Monolith guy specifically mentions they're keeping a lot of things hidden. NPCs you'll meet, areas, all sorts of stuff. It's very mysterious, and I like that. 100 x better than Destiny which spoiled basically the entire game through trailers. Enemies, areas, armor, weapons. Everything was spoiled.
There are Orcs, Uruks, and goblins [only during nighttime]. Who knows what else lurks in the shadows [of Mordor, huhuhuh]

This is bugged me for ages, why does an Uruk-Hai know of the concept of a menu?

Phf. That's what sequels are for.
ARE YOU READY FOR SHADOW OF MIDDLE EARTH?
So we should get a good confirmation as to whether this is a quality game (I'm confident but it will be nice to be sure) on the 26th when the review embargo. I think it speaks to their confidence that they're allowing reviews to be released four days before the game releases.
Agreed, they would have just called it Shadow of Mordor if they didn't plan on making it a series. There is a lot that they can pull from that wasn't in the movies. They could even do something along the settings of Battle for Middle Earth 2 and delve into that part of the war.I AM hoping it does well enough that we can get similar games from them set in other parts of Middle-Earth. Even the naming scheme of the game is set up in a way that will allow sequels.
My countdown ends at the same time. I am thinking that it is counting down to the preload date by mistake.I thought this game came out on the 30th? PSN is saying it should be playable on the 28th.

I might pre-order it due to pre-loading, but I'll wait until the embargo is up just to make sure there aren't just bad surprises looming.
The amount of gameplay they showed of the open middle part of the game makes me relatively confident but an additional check is alright.
http://www.gamespot.com/gamespot-fifty/I am surprised at the lack of hype surrounding this release. I keep wondering if it's because it is destined to be a flop, but I'm keeping my preorder regardless!

It's #1 today in the GameSpot 50 so someone's hyped about it.
The game is available for pre-order on Xbox Live. It comes with the Ranger Pack and a Challenge Mode.
Who's going to pre-order? After the demo of FH2, I'm not sure but I think I will pre-order SoM and get FH2 when on sale. I think Monolith needs day one purchases more than Playground Games/Turn 10 after the success the demo has encountered.

I'd like a Shadow of Angmar, where you go up against the the legions of the Witch-King (orcs and hill-men) in the snow-swept remnants of the Arnorian kingdom, including the corrupted fortress city of Carn Dûm.
Come on, Monolith... hit this one out of the park.
With this game being the first major title by Monolith in a while and the fact that they have been doing a crazy amount of demos of it we can safely assume they are super excited about it. I have no doubts that if Shadow of Mordor does well it will spawn a long running franchise that will cover what you mentioned and more.I'd like a Shadow of Angmar, where you go up against the the legions of the Witch-King (orcs and hill-men) in the snow-swept remnants of the Arnorian kingdom, including the corrupted fortress city of Carn Dûm.
