"The game supports a two-player co-op mode for battles, and while tackling the mobs of enemies isn't more challenging as a team, this mode allows for a much better realization of the linked combat that gets left so far behind in the single-player game. Shining Tears is a decent hack-and-slash fun-fest with many available upgrades, but not that much combat meat to it. If you enjoyed the style of the Shining Soul games for the GBA, you'll be primed and ready for Shining Tears; if you're a Shining Force fan, you'll have to keep waiting for your game to arrive."

Why's everyone on the "Force" bandwagon o.o?

I'm a Shining series fan. While they do need to remake/release SFIII and make a SFIV, you gotta keep in mind that the series didn't even start off as a strat/rpg. It was a 1st person dungeon crawler.

1st Person Dungeon Crawler
Strategy/Rpg
Action/Adventure

All 3 types of Shining games serve to make the series a heck of alot better then your standard rpg series on variety alone. We all want another (real) Force but being impatient and hating on the rest of the series is soooo unfair!

The AI is pretty bad, and the partner system kind of weak, yet it's still mildly fun as a 2-player hack'n'slash game. Decent break from the Dark Alliance engine games. I would not at all recommend paying full price.

Yeah the game is totally not worth the full price. The only reason I bought it is for Tony's artwork. (And I even happen to be a Shining fan, just that this game is fairly average at best).
