SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance | Combat Trailer

The entire visuals, art and combat are a huge turn off to me. The game is trying way too hard to be "radical and cool", as if Shinobi was about this. Shinobi was about serious tone and dealing with enemies as fast as you can. Not about being cool looking and showing off.

The 2d ninja gaiden games looks waayyy better than this. Enemies have health bars? lol that's not shinobi. Im not even going try it unless they put out a demo. such a disappointment.

Lizardcube makes good games (i'm still playing SOR4) but man, that art direction with the Western comic-book-y look with the THICK outlines is just eughhhhhhhhh, fookin' hell, they look like a better version of that newsgrounds flash games of yore, why ?

NG ragebound looks much better IMO - and i'm not a fan of pixel art either

Ninja Gaiden Ragebound is more like that so I'm glad there going in a different direction with Shinobi. I played the Ragebound demo and that was quite good but grunt enemy combat felt kind of lackluster at times. This seems to have much deeper combat and more interesting enemies.

Looks good but for some reason I'm leaning more towards Ninja Gaiden Ragebound. Maybe because they had a demo and the first level of that was fire.

I'm a much bigger fan of the NG series. But as far as individual developers, I'm pretty optimistic about Shinobi. Streets of Rage 4 literally was my GOTY the year it came out and is probably the greatest beat em up ever made. This isn't the full multiple teams that worked on that, but its some of them. Personally I was a bit lukewarm on Blasphemous so I'm hoping they really nail Ragebound. Both look really good.

If you had to pick one? Where's a poll when you need one?
That's a tough one since I will most likely pick them both! Playing the hard mode in the Ragebound demo got me hyped so I'm biased towards Ragebound.

Then again I love Streets of Rage 4 and the weightier combat of Art of Vengeance looks like a nice change of pace to the faster pace of Ragebound.

Both Is Good The Road To El Dorado GIF

If I had to pick then I'd pick Ragebound since it is releasing earlier. :lollipop_content:

Offtopic but have you checked out the Absolum demo on Steam? It also has some of the SoR4 devs behind it and it plays very much like SoR4.

Nope. I'm aware of it but I'm still console only for now. I'll definitely be getting it and I kind of suspect that the true gameplay chops come from those guys, but its never been explicitly spelled out.

Not related but I do recommend Towerborne also. Seems a little similar to Absolum and its got pretty solid beat em up combat, SoR4 style animated art and aggressive enemy AI on higher difficulties. Very grind and repetitive though.

Not that they're the same game at all, but the combat and platforming looks more interesting in this than the new Ninja Gaiden. The art style is whatever though.
