***SHOCKER** Conker delayed AGAIN!!

Yeah, but weren't Conker and Kameo announced before Xbox even launched?

That's some bad focus.

That would make sence, just as Retros projects were shelved for concentration on Metroid Prime.

You know, I thought the game looked pretty solid at E3 2k4, and it would make an easy March date. Yet it will take another year? This sucks hard, as this is probably my most anticipated game of the year.

Just like how Star Fox Adventures made it out for the GC launch! Oh, I mean one year later. Whatever!

MS needs to step in like Nintendo did with Retro, otherwise they would be better off giving the money to charity. An insider's view of Rare after the debacle would be pretty interesting. :lol
Pretty much what I was thinking. According to almost everyone who has spoken about RARE, Microsoft gave them a lot of freedom to do what they wanted but it is becoming way too clear that you can't give so much to a studio ridden by people like the Stamper brothers.

They are either cooking something truly mindblowing for Xenon or procastinating like pros. If it's the first one I am cool with it, if it's the second one... well, then Allard needs to step into the offices in Darth Vader fashion and proceed with the asskicking and the firings.

Anyway, what it was showed off as a big blow to Nintendo it has turned into a PR nightmare, somebody needs a severe beating for reaching this situation.

it does suck hard. but on the bright side, one thing rare likes to do is polish, polish, polish, then polish some more, so it may work out better in the end :)

Conker was announced in 2003, and they ditched that version for the one that was first shown last year.

I mean bash them for their lateness, sure, but I have no doubt that they are competent with the hardware.

any developer would become competent with the hardware if you gave them 3 years to practice.

I don't remember MS gloating over it as some type of big "blow" to nintendo.

Sorry, but having an entire company the size of Rare focusing on Perfect Dark exceeds the bounds of practicality and would not help a game come out any faster. Rare is TREMENDOUS, and can afford to give a peak number of game designers for at least 3 projects at a time.

Alot of people want to believe that Rare has decided to locate nearly all its resources to Xenon, which would mean that they will have 2 to 3 well polished game early on in the systems lifetime. To that I say...we'll see...

Two can play at that game! (Funny image, by the way. You're still wrong. Rare will never have a game at the launch of any system, even if they one day make their own system. It will be called the Rare SeriouslyWe'reWorkingOnItBox.)

Well, you would think so. But who knows with how spotty RARE is with release dates. Perhaps they need almost everyone on the project to get the job done in time.

This is most likely true, but I'll hold onto my delusions of Perfect Dark Zero at Xbox 2 launch until I hear the delay word at E3.

I'll judge them by next gen and so will Microsoft. They won't last as a company in the form they are now if they produce like this with Xbox 2. Shelf them and just let others use their IP.

...that reminds me of Steve Jobs, with NeXT, going for years without releasing a single product and then bombing completely. The only meaningful outcome of the venture was NeXTstep being transformed into OS X. but then again Jobs also had Pixar, which lost even more money before coming out with 'Toy Story', so Rare might still pull a DKC on us. Still, I suspect that the Retro model fits Rare best. I guess Nintendo looked at Retro and Rare at one time, both in the same situation, mismanaged, too big and without focus, and they chose Retro because Rare has gone too far/big.

How about one of us that is going to E3 go by MS's booth, try out Conker and tell them "I can't wait to try it out again here next year."

:lol

So, has anyone preordered Conker? You get a demo disc if you did!

Maybe, just maybe, the rumors will be true, and PD0 will be Xbox 2's flagship launch title, and it will deliver, sell systems left and right, and prove that Nintendo was wrong to sell them. But I'm not counting on it.

I must be one of the few (only?) people happy to hear this, because I have to have this game, and I can't afford an XBox anytime soon... Thank you Rare/MS.

I always preferred the originally rumored title 'After Dark' back in the day. And now I prefer it even more as the entire world has gone prequel crazy.

Here's an interesting thought:

Why is it that Naughty Dog and Insomniac can put out an entire game trilogy out in 3-4 years (complete with lip-synched voice acting), yet it takes Rare 3-4 years for Rare to put out a remake of an already done game with another mode added?

Heh, I'm still a fan of Rare, but what the hell?

$599 for a N64 remake ?!?!?

So according to this kerrazy math DNF will have to cost $4999 to break even!

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Sadly I think its a case of they know the bills and wages will be paid regardless so why work hard?

I also felt the OXM demo was lacking. I mean the game looked decent, but the actual gameplay felt stale, and even sub par. Many other games have done third person shooting so much better since Conker last graced the 64. And I remember even dying cheaply in the demo.
It was after the cutscene of the monster tediz coming out of his capsule after I finished off the mad tediz doctors who threw needles. The millisecond after the cutscene played, I was killed, there was no way to react in time.

I really hope the remake of this game is like the remake Resident Evil got, almost a whole new game.

Except that in the same time frame, Capcom could not only churn out a remake of Resident Evil, but shoot out three more Resident Evils and port them to every conceivable console under the sun.

You do realize there's more to Conker than the single-player remake, don't you?

I FUCKING HATE YOU RARE!!
I'm glad Nintendo sold those lazy slacking brits!

Muthafuckas taking to many Tea Breaks! Get the crumpets and scones out your fat fucking mouths and crank out one of the few games you made this gen which is a damned remake!
No excuse for this shit its a remake with a formula in place wow online mode it won't be that robust believe me.

Ill admit i was wrong, i thought nitendo losing Rare was gonna come back to bite them big time.

Though it did attribute to nintendos loss of mindshare.

I think the truly sad thing about the Rare debacle is that the developers of games like Crimson Skies, Top Spin, Amped 2, etc all very fun games that are the top of their genre, were let go by MGS. Sure they were picked up by Take 2, but who knows what will happen then.

That's not really true. MS only bought Rare just before RE Zero came out, and apparently Conker wasn't in development for the GC so that's when it started.

Still, 2 1/2 - 3 years for a remake is a bit much. The online mode better seem like it's worth it, as I'm guessing that's where most of their time is being taken up.
