SHOOTEMBER Wrasslin 2016 |OT| - Can Punks Catch as Catch Can Too?

Can't use the "misusing talent" argument for ratings. They've done this for years and is absolutely nothing new. The product is just very stale. We're in this "new era" but it's literally the same as before.

I wasn't watching during Ruthless or Invansion so I don't know what made those feel different, but even during Hogan to NewGen you could feel a change.

So now the question is what do they do when SD plummets too

Consolidate content, rip out shows, let go or drop talent down to NXT.

This whole "new era" thing is weird in the sense that I don't think anyone really considers Cena/Orton/Rollins/Reigns as part of it and yet they're still the main focuses of the show.

A Made Man run up on by two old timers? X-Pac just got Casino'd.

Even in the attitude era there were a lot of garbage matches (Val venis vs 8-ball for example), but there was the lure of excitement. You never knew what Austin was going to do. You never knew what nWo was going to do. Now so much is spelled out or completely obvious it offers no incentive to ride it out.

Watching that old regal Vs Samoa Joe collection match on the network... Terrible quality buy wtf is going on in this random promotion? Fucking triple h shows up jacked as hell beat up regal, dude is a walking wellness policy violation.

I'd say the shield guys are part of the new era. They're young and come from the same places (ROH). They were just a little early.

It' so hard to know why people tune in or not.

But i'd say what i was saying since that monday Owens became a champ is a bog part of the current problem cause that's the worst you can have in wrestling.

Wrong positioning of wrestlers. Everything they did since is reverse logical booking, really..

I mean, the heel guy is a loved, funny, impressive anti authority (which is still is right now), non good for business guy. The face is a guy who acts like a whining little shit, doesn't know how to act like a face, has Steph, and Mick foley in his corner, and was forced champ for many months... He tries to stop his former best friend to have a chance at the title by attacking the heel champ in the back, making that champ against all odds. And that after the heel champ destroyed the face with an impressive promo while he was saying nothing and looked like a college boy being bullied.

This is terrible. Adds to that Reigns being hated more than vicky guerrero...

This is incredibly bad booking. Right now, RAW's main event picture is a guy we have to boo when everyone wants to cheer, against 2 guys who are just non existent as faces. No joke it's tepid and not working..

So how are SD ticket sales doing since the split?

Those arenas still half empty or have the John Cena dark matches been bringing in the families?

I think they've only just split the touring rosters this week so they could play good on their advertised cards. It's why you had weird dark matches happening after SD.

The TV shows seem pretty full.

I wouldn't say so to be honest. They've been around for 4 years already.

The whole allure of a supposed new era was seeing guys debut and instantly become stars like Styles/Enzo/Cass/Balor etc...

Everyone else who was there 2+ years ago has already been tainted in the eyes of audience.

Roman Reigns is still the good guy?! The top good guy?!

It's meant to be Rollins except he acts like the cheapest of heels. While Owens doesn't even really do heel things (did he worked on Zayn injury last week ? no. Did he actually cheated to win against Reigns, or tried to do something horrible ? No Rusev gave him the victory that's all and he looked pretty brave and resistant against Reigns..)

Look. All I'm going to say is that RAW After Mania 2015 was the first RAW I watched and that I've watched every single one since then.

I don't want to start any unnecessary panic, but The Curse Of Menome may be operating on a larger scale than we thought.
Dude they're about to come knocking at your door.

That said they can still fix that and use what's happening perfectly, and actually go with the natural story, instead of a forced artificial one.

Vince come out next week (for ratings) and tells steph "what the fuck i let you in charge for 6 month and Kevin fucking owens is the champ ? And did you see the ratings ?? Do you think a guy who looks like our fat neighbor can represent wwe's legacy and give kid' dreams ? Really ? Look at him! You better fix that pretty quick girl, like right now!"

Then you have the authority chasing the illegitimate king for weeks, yet Owens being a sob troll who always finds a way.

Bam you have an actual story that people can relate to, and hey you can even have media attention for that.

It's not that fucking complicated...

Is Heath the first wrestler to hold a title whilst not under a storyline contract since CM Punk circa 2011?

Will they do something compelling with that fact?

Love already how some people on Wreddit are saying "That's because Smackdown is better, blah blah blah" as if that should be used as a saving grace to what is going on.

Then you have the authority chasing the illegitimate king for weeks, yet Owens being a sob troll who always finds a way.

But that's still the same shit, just different people. However, the idea of a chase in general is always going to work.

As much as the bile about ratings annoys me (because its ignorant to directly equate now to 2000 WCW for a variety of reasons) RAW was bad enough last night i'll hold off.

One of the most annoying things theyre doing is turning the 20 minute opening promo into an immediate match.
If im not into it (like last night) thats the opening 40 mins i dont give a fuck about. Thats horrible pacing.

The first 40 mins should lay out the main event, have a short match, build a feud and tease another promo/event in the next two hours.

2005 Raw had a MUCH shittier in-ring roster than today, but they knew how to pace the show and they had guys that can talk.
