Shovel Knight |OT| The 8-bit adventures of Butt Butt Goes to Europe & Australia

Would it be possible for someone to get me a high quality version @ 1920x1080, of this screenshot? I want to use it as a background, but I haven't seen a version that isn't a blurry up-rez of it.

Sorry if this isn't the right topic for this, but it is Shovel Knight, so yeah. Lol

This one from Steam Community?

http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/595914029841303193/7BB6E3ABD6C42E2ED04BD49F314587DFEE111C9F/

It's probably the single most common screenshot.

Edit: Actually, it looks a bit different (and has the HUD). Is that close enough?

Alternatively, if you can tell me how to get that exact scene I could take a screenshot myself.

Beat the game. Died a lot to spike and bottomless pits, but it was blast. Makes me want to go through some Mega Man and Castlevania games again.

Tinker Knight was really easy, especially compared to Propeller Knight. The ice dude has the coolest pre-battle exchange though.

It's amazing how much personality they put into these characters who you only see for a minute or two.

What would you guys like to see in a sequel? New Knights, or mostly returning knights with more character added to them? Another 8-bit styled game? Or maybe something different?

Also, Shovel Knight outta be in DiveKick, with The Baz being in.

All of the bosses are easy once you learn their pattern and weak spots, very similar to Megaman. Tinker Knight gave me trouble at first until I figured out a good way to avoid the 3 red blobby blasts and to shovel up via the bouncing balls. Propeller Knight I didn't have much trouble with except when he shoved me off the stage with his propeller blast, before I figured out jumping results in less push than standing still.

It feels nice to figure out a boss on the first try, though.

You can also just jump up on the missiles at the start! Then if you bounce right you can just stay on him the whole time basically.

I think they would be able to go for a new order, possibly using some of the fan submissions from that contest a while back for ideas.

I want a new Order of No Quarter in a sequel, with the old knights being NPCs in the towns or maybe even playable.

That would be pretty cool! I'd love some of the older characters to come back though, even if it's in a side role or something.

Yeah that'd be cool! I could see Polar Knight coming around and helping Shovel Knight, Treasure Knight having some kind of side quest where you collect stuff, Specter Knight showing up as a miniboss, etc.

I wouldn't be too upset if Mole Knight and Tinker Knight are gone for good though.

Finished this yesterday. What an excellent game. I wish there was a bit more of it for me to play! It really captures the retro charm with its "less is more" philosophy. Even the characters speak about five boxes of dialogue each, but are still brimming with personality -- cool, absurd, and charming all at the same time.

I'm going straight into NG+. What changes?

Not sure why I bought this game. I hate Mega Man, and I suck at this game. I went from 15k gold down to 5k gold on one level. It was that part with the stupid fish chasing you. Everything kept knocking me down into pits.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking. Propeller Knight could provide shortcuts with his airship, Plague Knight could provide magic upgrades and maybe help Mona with the beaker game, King Knight could provide some hilarious conversation...

Why? :(

Especially Tinker Knight, he could do any number of things as an NPC.

Don't worry too much, gold is plentiful.

does the mayflower adaptor allow the triggers and sticks to work as expected or are the triggers dpads?

Lets you use the pad either as an XInput controller (in which case it maps exactly to the 360 pad -- the sticks are analog sticks, etc.) or as a DirectInput controller (in which case it makes the same mappings you typically see with DI controllers, where the triggers and right stick are registered as axes or POV hats.) I haven't found a single game yet where it doesn't work flawlessly, I don't think I've used my wireless 360 pad as anything but Player 2 since I got it.

3ds version is good. Only issue is the volume which is not loud enough.

I think that's a general 3DS issue.

According to a speedrun forum thread I was reading the
mobile gear
is a OHKO for the fight anyway.

If that is true, I love this game and the team even more, because that would be the biggest Mega Man reference ever.

The entire stage is a Metal Man reference already, but that would reference Metal Man being super weak to his own weapon.

Fuck everything about propeller Knight's stage. Just...rage inducing. Fuck it sideways.

Definitely the stage I had the most trouble on. I broke all the checkpoints. End of game tally shows I died 20 times in that level.

It's actually not that bad once you figure out a couple of little tricks here and there, such as the wind rooms. Those are actually very simple.

3ds version is good. Only issue is the volume which is not loud enough. I have the steam version too and streaming it on my nvidia shield is the way to go. Crushes the 3ds as it has a better dpad and screen is cleaner - looks better

Go into the options in-game and you can put the volume up way higher. I also thought it was too quiet but after putting it up in the menu it got pretty loud.

Finished. Incredible. Has now become my GOTY (beat Dark Souls II, DK: Tropical Freeze and Drakengard 3). I even got the "Checkpointless" feat. Feels good, realllly good.

I just looked at the achievements / feats for this game....

Alternatively, you can use my version! I edited out the HUD using my SUPER PAINT POWERS
because it's literally just NES black so BAM

Haha, yeah. I did that with that screenshot too. Lol. Now, I need to find someone who can make an image(s) of just the dark forest + sky in the background with no campfire, or Shovel Knight, so I can put it on the triple monitor setup to "surround" him. It would look so nice. ;_;

Edit: A friend of mine made this for me to use. Here it is if anyone else wants to.

Wow, this game won't stop impressing me. The animation on the cook guy is so hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing. I don't know why I wasn't expecting it. This game is so full of life. I love it.

Tinker Knight and Mole Knight both became decent people in the epilogue so probably just cameos if no quest NPC sorta role
.

I still say they should have had an achievement that requires you to no-damage each boss without any upgrades at all.

Apparently this was an actual image used in promo'ing the game on Kickstarter.

It's a PNG, so it's lossless and doesn't have any compression like all the JPEGs that have been posted.

Just dropping by to say I finished it. This is exactly the sort of game I wanted when I pledged fifteen months ago - it's glorious and there is still plenty of content on the way. Now onwards to NG+, for shovelary!

Just beat the Treasure Knight.

I see this game is continuing in the grand tradition of "the water level" being annoying as all hell just like in all NES games.

not as nice as your friends, but im bored and figured there should be no brightness against the trees since theres no fire.

I saw this on Google, but didn't want the logo. Plus, I've got it now. :3

Finished it, great game. A few of the levels had some annoying design, but I managed to get through them. I was going to complain about the game being too easy, but then I played Treasure Knight's stage and from there on the game proceeded to kick my ass a lot.
Also I didn't get the feat for beating the game, must've glitched out or something.

Specter Knight had my favorite animations. I would pick a favorite song, but it'll take some thought as the entire soundtrack is sublime.
