vicissitudes said:Really nice setup and collection. I have been looking for a sound system and I think I might go for the one you have. How do you like it? Do you have wireless rear speakers? I hear I have to buy extra pieces to use wireless![]()
FoxMcCloudDS said:Yes, the system I picked up does have rear speakers. Unfortunately I couldn't find a link to give you on amazon. I didn't pay much and it came with everything. Only complaint is that I think it wouldn't hurt if the rear speakers were all a bit louder. Maybe I just bought too quiet of one. But it's really good in an apartment, since you still get the roar from the sub, but the sound isn't too crazy.

Still, interesting to see how people get their gaming on
ShabbadooJr said:Looking at people's collections, do you really go back and play old games once a new generation has been released? I always found myself bored/uninterested once the new systems come out. I sold my PS2 before buying a PS3. I sold my Xbox before the 360. I sold my GameCube, before the Wii. Am I alone in this?

I haven't quite reached were you are at, but after knowing how amazing it is to go back and play games on the N64 and sort of relive that childhood, I don't plan on ever selling a system or a game (unless the game was actually crap)djtiesto said:I go back and play older games all the time, and I still have kept nearly all of my games (apart from the games I absolutely hated). Currently playing Shining Wisdom (sucks) and Popful Mail (awesome) now... but I'm one of those people who aren't very much interested in what current-gen has to offer at all.

The viewing distance looks further away on the photos than it is. It's just 3 meters at 46inch screen size.
TV: Sharp LC46-X20E
Speakers: Heco Metas, 6.1 Setup
Subwoofer: Nubert AW-991
AVR: Yamaha RX-V3900
Photos from the other side of the room coming soon.

Front of gaming setup. Kinect / sensor bar hatch up in the middle. Speaker cables, electricity, telephone and TV aerial all routed through wall. Studs to maintain a large TV. A wall will be mounted in front.

7.1 surround setup, four back speakers will be ceiling mounted.
Are you making sure not to run your electrical through the same holes in the studs as the rest of your stuff? It will give you slight interference and they should only cross at right angles to minimize the interference. In Ontario the minimum separation is 50mm (2 inches) for regular household circuits (less than 300V) and I bet the code for your area is the same or similar. That is sexy as hell. When I get my house built I want to copy that look.
PortTwo said:It's a 50" screen. I would never have been able to get away with it if I wasn't able to basically dedicate a floor of our house to an AV room. We have a "lounge" upstairs for entertaining without having The Monolith (as my wife terms it) looming over us. Plus I find the setup for talking is often at odds with watching/playing; i.e. couches and chairs in a semicircle as opposed to couch pointed right at TV.
Guys like eXistor, I really appreciate when they post pics though, as I feel I can appreciate and marvel at the dedication without having to dust all of it as you said, heh.
Again I can't help but note the degree in difference; there aren't too many "in the middle" setups. It's almost like a right brain/left brain thing.

slider said:Chittagong, how do you like that receiver? Had it long? I've got the same model but only really use if for my 360/PS3 and don't even have 7.1 from it (still rocking 5.1). I feel I'm not using it to its full potential.

Black Republican said:when i move to canada next year, i want to buy a nice 32inch tv over there for mostly gaming and other HD goodness, what brand is best for that size? a sony bravia maybe? also what stores/sites have the best deals in canada for hdtv's?
thanks
Boxing Week sucks ass. I bought my 50" Panny G25 during Future Shop's Canada Day sale last summer for $200 less than what it was on sale for during Boxing Week in the same store.Stumpokapow said:No particular best brands. I have a Sony Bravia in my bedroom as a secondary HDTV. It's fine.
There's no one best site for deals. Check your local store and only buy on sales. Judging from your username you're American. Canada doesn't do Black Friday like the US, but we do do "Boxing Week" which is basically pretty heavy discounting from December 26th to December 31st. There's no amazing OMG GOT A $2000 TV FOR $200 stuff, but if stores are going to clear inventory of slightly out of date models, they'll discount a few hundred dollars on them. So that's the way to go.

The coffee table turned out a bit bigger than I was anticipating, but I've already gotten used to it.
The TV stand is all MDF, the front surfaces were shaped with a vacuum form.Chittagong said:I read it but didn't quite thought it actually meant that. Amazing job. What's the material, painted and varnished plywood, mdf or?

The table legs are wood, the main plate is a couple of wooden plates glued together and then painted/polished.
