I just built some floating shelves to frame my television with:

I'm still not really sure how I want to decorate them yet so I just kind of threw some random crap on them, I dunno:

I'm looking into buying/building some stereo speakers but unfortunately the shelves are fairly shallow at 7 1/4", if anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear 'em.[/QUOTE]

Beautiful!

How deep is 7 1/4" in cm?

Edit: many of the populair speaker manufacturers make small bookshelf speakers. Tannoy, Kef, Mission, Monitor, Boston Acoustics, B&W. Which one you choose is a matter of taste.

@Goemon_Godo which model of the aquos is that? I have one and I can't for the life of me get the black levels to look anywhere near as good as that pic

Black levels always come out better on camera and he also has lighting behind which can enhance it and give the illusion of deeper blacks.

Check out some bias lighting if you watch TV in a dim room at night, it can really make a difference.

Our first night in our new flat tonight. A sneek peak of my new 7.1 setup. Cables still to be tidied, brush grommet installed. Blue tapes to be remove, and kitchen stickers.

It's the LC-46X20E and the black level is perfect. Better than on most newer LED backlight TV's I have seen so far. The backlight is on -9. In a complete dark room the black looks like black with a little grey, but only when there is nothing on the screen or when the movie is very dark. In a normal picture the black is as black as the TV rack.

Thanks -COOLIO-!

Nice setup, what is that little stereo thing on your desk? I need something like that for my desk.

Edit: Oh cool, I was looking for a headphone amp and I like the design. Thanks.

Love the set up, nice and simple........Make, model, and where did you buy that rack, if you don't mind sharing

Oh it's a small Onkyo amplifier. Got it from my old job.

I use it as a headphone amp primarily.

Threi... I have joined the unfinished basement club. I look forward to taking pictures of my basement as it slowly becomes a real man cave... I am your pupil. Tell me your ways.

Some amazing setups here, quite inspirational. Giving me a number of ideas of smalls way to make my own set up that little more.. comfortable.

Pics tonight :) Nothing over the top, but I have everything I need.

Man, fuck you guys and all of your fancy setups, hahahaha.

ABOMINATION INCOMING, ABOMINATION INCOMING, ABOMINATION INCOMING!

Man, I feel unworthy of being a part of this thread. Bye guys XD

Finally got everything nice and color-coordinated on my desk:

Sorry about the relative shittyness of this photograph, had to turn on HDR mode on my iPhone to prevent it from blowing out the brightness on the iMac screen.

What did you use to be able to display your xbox on the iMac. Also does it scale well to the screen?

Using the Kanex XD. The main problem is that adapter only supports 720p max, which means that the display is essentially pixel doubling to fill the screen. It looks clean, but blocky, and the rabid anti-aliasing crowd would likely commit suicide if they had to look at it for more than 30 seconds.

But at 27" I can sit far enough away that it doesn't look too bad. It's more for convenience than anything. Gonna move the Wii up to HDMI on my HDTV and use the then-available component jacks for my PSP Go's dock.

iPhone 4 shots of my three gaming areas (sorry for the quality):

The Office:Core i5 2400, 8GB DDR3, Radeon 6850, LG 42" 120hz LED, and JBL Sound Dock - used for strategy games, Diablo 3, and internet arguing.

The Bedroom: Core i7 2600 Silverstone HTPC, 8GB DDR3, Radeon 6950, Logitech THX Speakers, Toshiba Regza 120HZ 40" LCD - used for most of my pc gaming.

The Living Room: Mitsubishi 65" 3D DLP, PS3, and Sony CT350 Soundbar/3D Ready Receiver - used for console gaming and Blu-ray viewing.

The living room Pioneer Elite 60" Plasma, full Paradigm studio surround setup, ps3/360 kinect, JSP jazzy HT furniture, Yamaha receiver, Dish/HDDVD too

Bedroom 30" HP 2560x1600 monitor, dual 480gtx, 4ghz core i7, 8gb ram, x-25m ssd etc

That's a pretty stylin' HT setup.
Thanks, I ended up putting black electrical tape over all the blue lights, I couldnt stand it! EWspecially from the power conditioner, it drove me insane during dark movies.

Also worth pointing out that you can't use this device on newer Thunderbolt Macs.

Time to post my setup. I'm 20 and still live at home. Don't feel the need to move out at the moment, probably at least another year.

My bedroom with my PC and Laptop. My PC is used for gaming when I'm at home and I use my laptop for when I go to GF's or LAN's etc. Also use the laptop with Xbox controller connected to my tv. Not shown in this picture is my 3DS in the draw. You can kinda see my iPad on top of the draws.

Desktop = i7, HD6970.
Laptop i7 Sandy Bridge, GTX485m
SAM_0859.jpg

This is in my bedroom also, whenever I take a bottle away from this its almost instantly replaced. I enjoy Jack Daniels :) GF's "crap" on top -.-
SAM_0860.jpg

This is the couch I have in my Lounge(I have my own separate Lounge from the family). And my dog who has his eye on the foot rest on the floor. Little bugger.
SAM_0862.jpg

This is my TV/Console setup. The massive game collections I have seen throughout this thread are quite impressive, I can't do it though. 1, I hate clutter and mess. 2, games over here when new are at least 90$, always end up trading towards them.

Samsung UA55D7000 55" 3D Led Smart TV.
PS3
Xbox 360 Slim
Media Center - 15TB Storage
SAM_0861.jpg

Future plans:
Some kind of lighting behind the tv, shining up the wall.
New coffee table with drawers to hide remotes and controllers etc.

Which sidebar or program are you using to display those icons on the right side of your screen?

Coogee is great. CBH is a decent joint, I've had many a big night there :)

Lol, I lived a few doors up from the CBH, in a flat above the Cooge Bay Cafe. Worked at Charcoal Charlie's and at the surf shop across the road. Good times. I love Sydney women and the way they walk off the beach into the CBH and stay there all night, drinking in their bikinis.

Which mouse is that? It looks really nice and I'm wanting to pick one up for the new PC :)

So I just moved out of my mom's house 3 weeks ago. Got my own little apartment now (rent). Feels good. I'm only showing off the living room for now. The apartment is still a ways off from being finished (hence the cable mess in the living room), but the other rooms, the spare bedroom is particular, are quite messy right now.

141 or 151? Man looking back I really wish I went with a 60" Elite over a 50" one.
