Show us your gaming setup: 2014 Edition

Where are you hiding your audio setup? I find it hard to believe that such an obvious movie maniac misses out on a huge part of the whole experience. I'm not even talking about an expansive 7.2 setup, a simple 2.0 bookshelf system would be a major improvement.
I had a full fledged 5.1 setup a few years ago, but then our cat adopted us and she was terrified everytime I had the surround system on. Main culprit was the subwoofer, but high volumes in general make her feel uncomfortable.

So I sold the surround setup and went with TV speakers sound instead. Only 2.0 or 2.1 sound isn't my bag and the humble stereo system that we have is alright for music only purposes.

May sound stupid, but the preferences are set towards the well being of the cat who is a member of the family.

I have always been jealous of these setups, but I am about halfway through turning my gahiggidy basement into a custom gaming palace. Right now it's studs and exposed infrastructure - including smurf tubing.

In terms of equipment I am keeping it simple and clean. Running wire for speakers but only because its already opened up. Will be a pretty compact space so I am using a yamaha surround bar and matching sub. All the shelves are being custom built to accommodate the surround bar and kinect.

Then it will be paired with a 60 inch Sharp quattron, white xbone+ tivo premiere xl and a new xbox 360 slim.

Harmony one is there but I will mostly use my white nokia 920 which I broke in a drop but works perfectly as a smartglass remote. And it matches the xbone and controller.

Will post progress pics when it is done.

Just finished my new retro gaming setup tonight! It's humble, but that's the way I like it. Don't be fooled by the shelf. A few hundred games there.

I hear you. I had a cat for 15 years until she passed away. She's a beauty!

I like it! I also have the same TV for my retro setup. It's perfect for them.

Where did you get your gaming chairs?

I actually got them on sale at Target for $7 each!? Had them for a couple of years and they get the job done.

Also, every good man cave needs a good dog.

I like seeing poverty setups too. Don't be dissuaded.

My favorite is seeing huge collections of games and how they are organized. "Poverty" setups are cool too, honestly the Ikea minimalist showroom type setups are the least interesting (even though that's what I have ;P)

Got a new desk! And instantly cut the legs off. Apartment is finally shaping up.

Looking good. More so at the desk, great idea to chop the legs off.

Looks great Sean P.
- Couch just seems way to close to the Telly for my taste
- What kind of vertical monitor is that?

In my college apartment.

I have a composite to VGA converter, VGA splitter, and an HDMI switcher that goes into an hdmi splitter back there just so I can easily stream from all 3 of my consoles with the click of a button. I just came back from break and haven't felt like making it look more organized yet.

I get that it can be too close for some peoples taste. It's a 40" tv and recommended viewing distance is between 5-8 feet, I'm at 6 and a half. Works great for me using as a monitor because I can still clearly see details and read text

The vertical monitor is a Dell 2007fp. Great monitor, definitely needs an update. Sadly will probably never get one :[

New speakers!

that is really well done man. great use of space and angles. one of the best i've seen!

Wow thanks! It's been great so far. It was just a cluttered mess before so I never even wanted to look at it, let alone play it. A couple of shelves and viola!

New setup in my new place.

Candy Cabs!

Took me a while to find, clean, and get these running. The Astro City and Impress are set for Jamma while the Blast City is used for X360 Vertical SHMUPs. Can be switched to jamma in minutes.

My PC. Not much to say. Need to finish putting my Transformers up!

This is my 42" Tri-Sync Commercial Plasma display. I use my Supergun and newer consoles on it. I play my older stuff on the 24" Trinitron.

Oh man, me and my wife's house build is gonna be complete around August

I've just been saving and saving to get the set up I've been dreaming about since I was like 10

Some of you people have inspired me to change some things and I can't wait to finally be able to show off all my shit

Right now everything sucks and is shit

But soon

There are some really nice set ups in this thread. Unique.

Mine is living room: 65 Samsung 7 Gen. Sony 5.1 system, ps4, Ikea chair with footstool and my new christmas present- Tritton 720+ headphones/microphone. Still getting used to headphones for my gaming sessions. I enjoy them.

Same boat as you. Our house is almost finished. Gonna start moving some things into cabinets this weekend, but have to wait for the carpet to go down and the hard wood floors to be coated again...but once that is done... I can finally get the man cave I have always wanted started. I designed the room with really cool things. Cant wait to show you all pics!

Changes from last year replace the logitech X-530 with Z623 and left the 360 home and replace it with the PS4. Headphone stand added and new game pad for the pc. HDMI runs to the TV and long with audio to the logitech speakers.

Better late than never, here's mine. It's not even been 1 year since I moved here, so I'm still working on decorating the best I can. :)

Gaming couches in the living room.
Gaming setups in the living room (PC/Wii U/PS3/Gamecube) All my other console are stacked in my closet because it would take way too much space to put them all out.
Gaming bedroom with a good old CRT for old school gaming urges.
My stuff on the side. (Just the CD stuff, all my cartridges are in the big drawer. :D)

In my college apartment.

what is that sticking out of your SNES?

nice, man! the pixel art stuff is great with this, i love Ness & Gunstar, never really see those ones. and man that's a hullva PSX collection, nevermind i can spot Shining Force III, Burning Rangers & other greats in your Saturn one too!

PSvita on the bedroom nightstand. I put the Xbox 360 in our bedroom as a Netflix, movie box. Then is my office which houses PC, Xbox 1, PS4 and Wii U.

I've been living at home for a couple years now paying down student loans since I travel for work a bunch, anyway. But, I've finally hit a point where I've decided it's time I move out. I just signed a lease, and I've been buying furniture like mad. On February 1st, I'll be trying to cram all of this:

Can't wait to get it all setup!

Just looking for some advice on my setup guys.
I have the chance to purchase myself a 28" Sony CRT for all of my older games (it looks horrible, just horrible on my LCD).
I don't have the largest floorspace, but looking for some suggestions on how to introduce such a TV into my gaming space without it looking too bad.

Is there any examples on here where people have managed to blend a retro and contemporary living space into one?

Try something like a cabinet that you can close and hide.

WHAT! I also have my SNES with the same Nakitek adapter on my desk.

Here's my humble setup. Not pictured - OG Xbox, PS3 (other room) and PS4 (coming later in 2014!) - Also the HTPC running Win7 and XBMC

Cabinet is a custom made Tasmanian Oak low line unit. Been hunting for something like this for some time:

I do love it though. Bought it second hand for an absolute steal.

I picked up the receiver and 5.1 speakers for about $300 a couple of years back and are really good. Considering it was worth around $2k instead. Woot.
