I don't think there was any evidence to that effect. The whole stunt was already planned. Livestreaming in 4K was just a bonus to them.

should also be the end of the story. They've just come up against an antagonistic force so great that only a deus ex machina can save them.
Unless Judge has some REALLY impossibly wild and brilliant shit up his sleeve. I mean it is still a comedy, so everyone can get randomly fucked while the protagonists make off scott free and that's not.. technically against the rules of comedy. Not being funny is against the rules, and that's not been a problem.

Fucking amazing episode! Echoing everyone; best episode of the season and potentially even the best in the show's entire run. I was dying for the last ten minutes of that. Just a perfect storm of hilarious comedy. Some of the things that made me lose it:
The Blaine sub plot with the SWOT board was just comedy gold. I was dying when he turned around and saw the board. The show is the best comedy I've seen in years. This episode, the season opener and last season's finale stand out as the best.
Loved the End Frame twist at the end too. Makes me excited for next week. God I love this show.

While I liked the episode a lot, I'm kind of getting tired of the whole how much shit can go wrong for them mentality the show has going for it. Every time something might go their way you know that it is not actually going to work out in any way at all. Especially in regards to their competition with Hooli.

Hmmm. Interesting thought but I think I disagree. Hooli's pretty much fucked. End Frame's the new competitor which is making things more interesting and compelling. I kind of like the whole "how the hell are they going to get out of this one?". It's the story of David and Goliath really so you can expect David to struggle and Goliath to be super powerful. That's why Hooli being fucked is so interesting. It's something you wouldn't expect. This season is closely following last season in terms of pattern. There'll be a deus ex machina style moment at CES with Pied Piper reigning supreme and somehow miraculously winning again (pure speculation based on last season; I haven't read any spoilers or anything).
Like now for example I can't wait for next week. If everything was sunshine and rainbows I don't think I'd be as interested.
Exactly. It's the same stuff in a different season. That's why it has gotten old to me. Sure the whole how are they going to get out of this situation thing is interesting for a while, but when it is basically every episode it gets tiring. I understand that the show is about a tech startup and how difficult it is to be successful, but not every situation needs to go bad. Every time it looks like they might catch a break, something goes wrong. Give them a few more ups instead of all downs and the show becomes more compelling.

I'm with you 100%. I enjoyed the episode a lot, but watching Hooli melt down just to see them replaced by yet another company seems kind of dumb. Yet again, some company is able to do the things Pied Piper is trying to do, only better, because they were able to steal the magic sauce that made Richard's algorithm work. I hope they can do something interesting with it, because I've been enjoying the Hooli stuff this season, so I'm not psyched to see Hooli 2.0 fucking the boys (and 2 girls!) over yet again.

I'm just interested to see how Pied Piper is somehow going to win CES what with two competitors now holding Richard's middle out algorithm. The obvious solution would be for Richard to improve the tech yet again but something tells me they'll go for something more unexpected and original than that.
