Silicon Valley - Season 2 of the hilarious Mike Judge comedy series - HBO Sundays

It was a solid ep when it comes to the jokes and comedy. I just don't really like how something fucks up every time. These guys need a win. Feels like I'm watching a show about Donald Duck, they win something and then they lose everything again. Repeat.

Still funny though.

TOTALLY agree. It's taking a lot out of the momentum when it just resets to one at every episode end.

I don't think the Intersite business is over yet. If it is, then it was introduced for no reason at all, just a distraction for a few episodes. They'll get their win in the final episode. This show isn't Always Sunny in Philadelphia, these guys are people that actually deserve some happiness in their life.

Everyone except Dinesh.

Russ is the best thing to happen to the show. When Russ discusses his fake friendship with them all, he stares at Erlich and the camera stays on him, and he says nothing. lol

Lmao that was great, I was expecting it and damn he pulled it off so good.

Also Richard's pissing me off now, just the way the actor is, it was fine at first but it's just really annoying now.

Thought the Richard-fired guy plot was off. If Richard was that paranoid about it, and he already committed to telling the guy the truth, just hire the guy and get him to sign a NDA.

With what money, though?

The money from the Intersite contract which they would have gotten if the writers weren't dicks.

Edit: Also, Russ is still offering them the burn rate money until CES. I suppose Richard can be a real dick and fire somebody else in order to get that guy on board.

Not sure whether or not what Gilfoyle did counts as hacking and is illegal, however they called it black hat hacking so maybe, and if so, the guy would've been able to tell officials about it even if he signed an NDA. An NDA can't be used to keep a whistle-blower from going to the police, unless it's about the security of the nation, however even then in most countries, not the US, you can do it.

I'm calling it now. Both Pied Piper and Huuli's problems will be solved by the finale when they merge, or agree to a buyout for tons of cash.

I personally can't enjoy comedies when absolutely nothing good happens to the characters that you are following. How is them repeatedly messing up meant to be entertaining? It's one of the reasons why this season has been a total dud for me so far. Hope it picks up soon.

I mean, it's one thing for the team to "never win". Arrested Development's entire schtick was the family being too stupid and/or greedy to ever get something good out of it, and if they did, it was almost always silver lining.

It just depends on how it's handled. Here, it feels a lot more like spinning wheels or going through the motions. They're lucky the show is as funny as it is, but even I found myself not laughing at a some of the jokes and callbacks from last night.

I just feel like if in the next episode they have Richard try to hang himself or something then it'd fit right in. Shit is so bad for them, always getting worse, Richard is already suffering because of all this and I can totally buy that guy thinking about ending it if another bad thing happens to them.

The only thing that keeps me from feeling the same thing is that we get to follow along with the shit-show at Hooli. If all we had was the Pied Piper perspective, I would completely agree with everyone who keeps talking about what a downer this forward and back dance is.

Edit: did Jared do ANYTHING this episode besides open the door for Russ?

It's all Jared's fault. Think about it.

He opened the door, letting Russ in - Ipso facto Jared
deleted all the porn
.

That few precious seconds he was in frame, ruined everything.

He sucks.

It's like he was the bottle of three commas that held down the delete key!

I really did not enjoy this episode. (first one in a while that I can say that) There was some funny moments with Russ, but the failures and Richard are really starting bother me.

So with the Tres Comas thing this guy is definitely some combination of Mark Cuban and the Girls Gone Wild guy. Is creating your own Tequila just like a douchy rich guy thing to do lol?

Hysterical episode but worrying plot wise. oscillating between Pied Piper pulling wins out of asses and digging themselves into ludicrous inescapable holes is way too volatile. I liked it better when they were fighting tooth and nail for little things, taking a fraction of a fraction of a step forward each episode.

Not a funny episode at all. Just as Game of Thrones kicked into awesome mode too. The lord giveth and taketh away.

So much this! Probably my least favorite of the season. They really need to get rid of Monica and her weirdo boss. They're so useless at this point.

I agree, I think last night's episode was the worst this season, coming off the backs of two of the best.

The protagonists having epic wins and fails is kind of subversive, in a way. You don't expect either one. But when the show is Win-Fail-Fail-Fail-Fail-Fail-Fail-Fail-Fail-Win or some slight modification of that, it becomes a little too formulaic and takes away from the moment to moment jokes. Of which there were less last episode.

The 'person swearing in front of kids' schtick was done better in Curb, where Larry would sing the Officer Krupke song a little too loudly. But it was funny there because he's too oblivious to properly defend himself and the kicker was he wasn't actually swearing.

There's also the minor problem of holding down a delete key probably not being an actual catalyst of deleting FTP processes already in progress. For a show that gets its technical jargon so close to the mark, this entire scene was '2 idiots 1 keyboard' bad.

I love this show, but last night as frustrating for me. I don't like the constant failure and lack of progression. It's funny to have them run into issues, but SOME forward progression would be nice. The constant stupidity of Richard is reaching obnoxious levels. Right now it feels like a sitcom that doesn't know where it's going to end and is just trying to keep the wheels spinning for eternity.

I really like this show and have sold many of my friends on it, but it needs to make some movement ASAP.

It came from a 500 year old family run distillery. Only the best.

I enjoyed the episode, and I guess I'm more of a sadist than the rest of you, because their suffering and setbacks are still entertaining to me :p

I agree with others that say its tiresome where only bad things happen to the characters. Hate it when shows do this. Partly why I gave up on Life & Times of Tim and Increasingly poor Todd Margeret.

If it happens every episode, its just not "fun" anymore. Definitely is a weird thing to say or to expect from a comedy, but good comedies have a balance imo.

Yet another great episode. Don't care if they don't succeed or make progress, seeing them failing is still funny to me :lol
