SimCity |OT| It's not the simulation or city that matter, it's <parameter: string>

Questions.

How do I increase density, population, etc? Once I've built my entire city with cheap roads, is the only way to upgrade them to parkways to completely demolish everything and lay down new roads?

How can I best maximize my population? I believe I was once told that any square of road that has the insides zoned for Residential will fill the entire square with Residential buildings eventually. Is this the case no matter how large the space in the square of roads is?

Do more ambulances, police cars, and fire trucks increase the radius of availability for that police station or is the best thing for me to do to expand police presence to simply build a new police HQ? Same for Fire and Health?

How do I build street cars? It would never let me place them.

The tutorial gave me the impression that assigning a trash/ambulance/cop to a neighbor for the fee won't detract my social services in my city... For some reason I don't trust this in the slightest. If I do assign a cop to a neighbor and my city reaches a point that it NEEDS that cop to come back, does this happen automatically?

You can assign cops and the like to foreign cities for money, but they have to request waste/energy/water from you, right?

make sure people are attending the schools - ie bus stop coverage in all residential, enough buses and enough desks for all the students. It takes awhile before you get the third tier of tech for industry
Might be a lack of school buses.

Also where do the pro stadiums show up in the menus once you have the dept of tourism?

You can totally restart - if you go bankrupt "abandon the city" is an option and it resets the whole city tile.

I might be doing something wrong, but it doesn't appear to work like that for me. Every time I try that the city stays there. If I click on it it gives me the option to reclaim it. And everyone is bailing on their GAF regions so I assume they're having the same issue.

Is the community update taking a long time for anyone else? Mine's been downloading for over an hour and is still only 40% done.

I have a library, and bus stops everywhere that is needed so I don't know what would be stopping them from going to school. I've upgraded classes as much as my budget will let me for now.

Distance from the industrial zones is also a factor. The closer that community collage and university are the better. They will still upgrade to high tech eventually but it will take longer for the affect to spread.

Off to work so just want to remind Discovery Delta 2 people who haven't signed up to find one of the other people on the map and ask them for an invite. West Europe 1, Neotopia Delta, etc

Do have a question though, is there a way to see how much space a building needs to increase it's size/density? I've had times where I deleted a small one off to the side and it'd grow and others where that just wasn't the case. Really enjoying the game though and I've had no issues outside the initial unavailability of the NA W server(which is why I chose Europe)

Okay I have a few questions. My city is SOARING right now but i'm starting to feel like its about to fall apart.

- I have about 7 residential skyscrapers - but my POPULATION is not going up...I'm confused by this.

- I have a constant demand for more residential. I have nowhere left to build and have resorted to increasing land value in order to have them make larger residential buildings. As I state above, the building looks like it could hold 2000 people, but my population doesn't go up as these things are constructed nor does the demand for residential go down.

- I built a processor factory and installed the Trade HQ and the Freight shipping building to bring in alloys and plastics. I have this stuff set to export So I gues snow it just makes money for me?

- I have businesses in industrial going out of business because they "can't find skilled workers". I have gradeschools through a university, NONE are maxed out student wise, so what gives? I need a bigger population I guess? How can there be a "demand for industrial" and industrial is going out of business?

Sorry for the long post, any assistance would be great.

Anyone? sorry I have been searching for answers on my own and coming up empty.

When you put down a lot, I think you go by the thin bar highlight behind it.

Why is it when I join a Europe server none of my log in info shows? Can't see game invites, friends, nothing.

Your friends haven't been on that server and they haven't sent you invites on that server. You can't see regions from other servers and you can't see them playing on other servers through SimCity.

If I don't reply to your messages on origin, it's probably because my brother is playing in his own test region.

I don't remember if sandboxox disabled achievements or limited them, but if it's the former... Well my brother has been getting them.

sandbox mode turns off challenges, leaders, and achievements. maybe he's not really playing or it's bugged? you should try using cheats to see if they work.

I think I'm done for awhile. First the queue problem and now the game keeps crashing on me when I join a friends game. To add insult to injury if the game crashes no one else can claim the city and I can't get back to it.

thus far how is everyone enjoying the game? I don't know anyone in person who has it so I can't ask anyone lol

Dislike all these people who started playing. Servers were a lot quicker monday night. Takes so much longer to gift money to my other cities. Just waiting for million on a new city im building. Spent all 50000 so far on a single bridge

Server issues aside which are a huge issue, the game itself is very good. It has a ton of depth and is pretty complex for wat many have asserted is simcity for casuals. There is nothing casual about the game imo.

That said there are issues. From nitpicky things like not being able to see what roads are not upgraded without having to highlight each one to having to demo an entire University even though you just want to demo the dormitory OR having to demolish the whole solar power station even though you just want to demo one panel(very dumb.) I coudl go on and on about simple things that imo are pretty obviously bad design choices but w/e I think they will patch a lot of those... I hope.

The big issue is the plot size. I wasn't a big whiner about that before release and I understand the mechanic of making more cities and all that but it is not a substitute for having a very large city. I really want more critics of the game to stick to their guns on this and not explain it away by saying that you can make more cities. We all know the nuances of that by now. I want a larger plot end of story.

It is way more good than bad though by far.

The game instantly closes when I launch it so I can't play it. Anyone have this problem and find a solution? Thanks.

If you go into edit mode you can demolish pieces of a building

Can anyone actually play atm? Been trying on and off all day and it just never fucking connects. Keeps disconnecting before I can even enter a region. Singleplayer creation btw...

Pretty sure the bolded isn't true, I had a bunch of smelters that i wanted to repurpose from creating metals to creating alloy, so I simply went into the building edit mode and bulldozed the metal furnaces and replaced them with alloy furnaces.

I was also able to bulldoze individual additions.

With regards to upgrading roads, when you are using the road tool, press R and select a section of road. It will allow you to select whether you want to upgrade or downgrade that section.

I swear I must have the crappiest plot of land. Discovery delta...it's sorta 2nd from bottom. It has a river running through it that splits it into 3 sections

I think I'm gonna abandon my full tech, high education city that's doomed for failure and go full Detroit mode with a new one :lol

I stopped in your city yesterday, it was nice and peaceful after coming from my failing casino town.

Speaking of failing casino towns...I passed 100k before giving up for the night and my town seems to be doing relatively well financially. But my casinos are just not making much money at all. I've added a lot of commerce and tourist attractions, an airport and ferry/cruise ship terminal, bus terminal, but noone seems to want to really gamble much. Is there something I'm missing?

Just got kicked from servers. Oh btw whoever has Seatton in discovery delta 2 all your murderers keep coming over lol. BTW, is here a way to just start your city over?

Unless someone has some proof, I'm going to say it's complete bullshit that radiation dissipates over time. Zona was nice enough to provide me with power, and I've been going without a power plant for over an hour at high speed, and it hasn't dropped the radiation levels at all. Such fucking bullshit because now my city is basically worthless.

Agreed but I want to start my city over now that I sorta have a grasp of things. How can I go about this?
Well you could save up a bunch of cash, tax the shit out of people until you're happy or they leave and then just bulldoze and start over? That's what I'm thinking about doing.

I'm fairly sure you can't but I'm hoping I'm wrong. Smiley said to abandon the city then go back to it, but that only let me reclaim the same disaster I had left there.
