I'm up for joining a new region if one forms (or spots open up in an old one) after the patch. I've just had the game shelved until now since I was to fearful of loosing lots of time spent on a city and the bugs scared me off too.

Just loaded with the new patch. Watched a fire tuck bypass traffic and get into the faster lane. Also saw a few cars "get out of the way" by attempting to switch lanes. So that's good...

City still not processing properly. Worked for a couple minutes before going down. Figured this 2.0 patch would be all fluff. Back to not playing I guess....

I seem to be getting the patch now from NA West 2.

Yep the much-ballyhoo'd 2.0 patch.

edit: still says login closed after updating.

Awesome. I'm at work right now but looks like I'll be playing SimCity tonight when I get back! I just hope I can finally fix my recycling centre problem in my city. It's my most well-run city in the game... until the recycling centre fucked up.

Yeah, I've been having to bulldoze more. Wish there was an auto bulldoze service. It's just tedious clean up.

Yeah just played a bit and had tons of buildings go abandoned on me. One of my parks already has 20 homeless people living in it. Not really sure what's up.

yeah im bulldozing a lot more buildings.
this is bullshit and annoying.
im constantly looking for buildings to bulldoze.
get your shit straight EA.

Rentahamster is currently touring Eastern Europe and is going to drive to France later today.f
Busy recovering from a night of stuffing my face and drinking beer last night.

A lot of these European cities, like Berlin, Prague, Bratislava, etc. have streetcar systems, and my experience with them in SimCity makes me appreciate their function more. Hopefully we are able to get in-game streetcars that eventually accurately represent real life streetcars.

It's interesting how I keep thinking about these cities in terms of SimCity while I'm touring around lol.

The patch notes made it seem like there were some bugs that prevented abandonment when it should have happened. Fixing those bugs effectively increases the rate of abandonment, I guess. Strange. They really need to clear up their game design a bit. Are they designing for hardcores, or casual? The actual game itself does not always reflect their desire to cater the game to casuals.

Played post patch for a little bit, but I couldn't really get back into it because there's no more room to expand. Not to mention that hearing about the traffic being patched in the future makes me feel like there's no point in playing if game-changing tweaks are still being made to the game.

Haven't had a chance to test the new patch myself yet but checked Reddit for impressions.... and holy crap... it sounds like Maxis actually made the game worse? More broken than before? How is this even possible???

I was actually, honestly excited to get back home after work and play this game again after ragequitting weeks ago but now... hmm, I dunno.

No way, they didn't right..right? I am not going to play it but if this is true good job maxis you can't even fix a game.

a reddit user posted a list of bugs from 2.0
Updating as I discover or people report bugs:

-Only titan gorge is showing up in the "Join Game" list. Where are the filter settings?
-Road textures still fubar/disappearing when you pan/zoom
-Seeing the "Mayor X has upgraded Y" from a different region than the one being played -Alberto-Balsalm
-Phantom sounds. Youtube Example: Trees making siren and honking noises - labombevolante
-Game crashes -sp1d3r
-Sewage OVERLOAD. 4k population, and sewage outflow pipe is MAXED.
-Multiple cities stuck @ loading endlessly. No problem creating new ones.
-High Density, Low Wealth Residential building graphic flickering -elitemarine
-City sounds 'dead' - lots of sirens, not much else -blitzedjesus
-Global trade of Coal does not function. 4 delivery trucks, 15 tons in storage, no movement. -pitbull_lvr
-Adding power plants, sewage, anything with agents takes several minutes to 'work' on cheetah -pitbull_lvr
-Buildings stuck endlessly in construction -pitbull_lvr
-Pollution from the region being magnified. New town, 4k population, 55 people in the clinic. -thehybridfrog
-Transit not fixed. Deleted street cars depots and rebuilt it elsewhere and all the street cars disappeared. after the patch, the street cars are still gone.. - user681
-Police car conga lines have not improved - fivestarchili
-Great works out of sync - link - fivestarchili
-Cars still double-backing to the road they came from to take a turn they could've taken earlier. - DerAffenbrotbaum
-My cities have all reverted to old saves - bailystevens
-Sewage problem with ferry terminal, sewage not been taken. - Moofers
-When ANY Culture building is placed, ALL Commercial buildings immediately become
-Hotels/Motels, no matter how many tourists you have Industrial_Redditor
City FULL OF TAXIS after patch - rshilda

...and lots more. Okay, well, not to be disrespectful to EA's potentially hard work, but 2.0 sure feels more like 'snake oil' than proper release. Keep 'em coming, we'll get this list complete and polish it up.

Yeah, just saw that. I already ran into the sick people thing, my town isn't that big, but I already have a maxed out clinic. Never seen anything like that in 1.x. Time to wait for at least 2.1, probably 3.0.

I don't think the full of taxis thing is new by the way, and maybe not even a bug. It's tourists returning home after a show in the stadium/possible stay in hotels after. Seen that plenty in 1.x.

May contain jokes =>
I dunno, the game clearly has bugs but this game has such a volatile relationship with the community that people are going to highlight every bug they find. The average support forum for any AAA game is filled with just as many isolated bug reports.

Like I said I understand this game is fucked to a certain extent, but even if they fix it places like Reddit aren't going to reflect that at this point.

The Simcity subreddit is pretty poisonous, trying to garner objective feedback there seems to be impossible.

-Road textures still fubar/disappearing when you pan/zoom - was this actually going to be a fix for v2, they did mention that not all bugs will be fixed in this patch

-Police car conga lines have not improved - fivestarchili - Not so sure about this one, I've got about 40 police cars in my city and they don't all do this, probably 4 max will move together
-When ANY Culture building is placed, ALL Commercial buildings immediately become
-Hotels/Motels, no matter how many tourists you have Industrial_Redditor - Not encountered this, I've got quite a few hotels but they may be because of my high tourist count, I've still got plenty of commercial buildings that aren't hotels.

Apparently, casinos are more profitable, however, my basic low wealth casinos are doing well, however my sleek casino is losing money like -$30k/per day, how do I go abouts making that profitable?

Well I finally got home and installed the patch.

...and the game simply does not work at all for me.

The first time I loaded it after the patch installed, it loaded fine and I managed to get into my city. Then, just as I was about to scroll and check my recycling center, the screen flickered and the game dumped me to desktop.

Now every time I load the game, I get to the title screen and try to load my city, it gives me an error message "Can't connect to server".

Good job fucking things up, Maxis.

I noticed this as well. Built a new city from scratch and almost as soon as I put the clinic down it was maxed out with patients. I just kinda thought; 'Hmm, that's weird'. I only had a small section of industrial buildings far away from residential, and only 1 outflow pipe (also noticed that got maxed very quickly), so couldn't figure out how people were getting sick. Over the course of ~90min. I had to max out my clinic because my town was experiencing a plague it seemed.

Tempy

don't ask me for codes
Filter hasn't worked since the first few days. Only Titan Gorge shows up for me. So that's not a new thing 2.0 broke :p

Yep, I think most of the bugs that people are saying are new, were there to begin with. They were just overshadowed by all of the other, and in most cases, more major, bugs.

Ok, someone please help me. I have a rather bustling city but not sustainable. Let me post some pictures.

I managed to push this far just taking out bonds, things stabilize, y spend it all, everything goes to shit, raise taxes, rinse and repeat. I was rocking them with some 18-19% tax all across the board.

I payed off the bonds and, lowered the taxes but now I'm in the red and with all the bonds out again. Going to have to raise taxes again. I'm not sure how to stabilize this.

Also, all my streets are the highest density and so are the avenues. I got street cars, buses, train, airport, all the schools, all covered with buses.

Oh and everyone is fucking sick. The pollution is not my fault. I have an oil plant but the wind doesn't let it hit anything. I'm waiting for the education levels to rise so I can put down a nuclear plant sometime but I'm not sure until when I should wait.

where's your trade export?
your trade export can generate 6figures of income/month.
just building a recycling plant and process plastic, metal and alloy.
use the trade export to export those by building individual housings for all 3.
also, make a processor plant.
you can use the plastic and alloy from the trade depot. you'll just need to set them to "use locally".
make sure you have a processor storage in your trade expot and set to export.
you'll make making a lot more than export materials.

it doesn't matter if you have a net negative per hour, as long as your making 6-7 figures per month, you'll more than make up the difference.

I'm fine with this. It makes the need for the hospital greater. Rarely would a hospital or clinic fill up after a couple of added rooms before the patch. I never had to add a room to the hospital even with a city full of high dense buildings, industry, and oil wells.

This game was so badly made it isn't even funny. The entire process from development to implementation is a complete disaster full of features that no one asked for. The similarities between this game and Diablo 3 are remarkable. Both games diverged so much from the games that people loved that what ended up being made is something no one wanted.

Fortunately for EA and Blizzard the nostalgia of the past good versions of the games is enough for many to keep hope alive and support the lesser product.

I do have a recycling center maxed out and a trade depot with the modules for alloy, metal, and plastic. All 3 on export. :(

You seem to be spending a lot on police, do you really need that much, if so how educated are your sims, education decreases crime

The game keeps yelling at me that crime is out of control, which is true, so I have two precincts. I have casinos in my city. My plan is for this city to be a booming casino and tourist city.

I always try something new, something different, and it seems to work at first but sooner or later everything turns to shit. :(
