It's worth it. Watch some of the beta let's plays, it's fun, especially if we can get a decently big GAF-Region going. Whoever decides to build a mega-polluting city upwind of me gets a kick in the balls.

I went ahead and ordered the physical version on Amazon for the $20 credit. Really looking forward to it. I am kind of shocked at the number of games I preordered this month. I very rarely preorder unless there is a significant discount but this month I preordered HotS (I preordered HotS months ago with Coinstar Amazon credit), Bioshock Infinite (with the Darkness II and Bioshock for $46) and now Simcity ($20 Amazon credit). Not the most fiscally responsible couple of months but whatever.

Count me in for a GAF region assuming it's included in the beta! I think 16 city would be the best to include as many people as possible but 8 could work too. My Origin username is my username on here.

By "full game", does that mean mulitiplayer is enabled?

I don't think so, since all the Closed Betas were also new loads, despite beta 1&2 being VERY similar.

Also, what I meant is that once the city spaces&infos are out (and not just the region pictures, but the actual city resources etc), we can probably figure out where we wanna make our region once the full game is out.

I hope so. I got invited to the beta 2 but noticed it too late and for 1 hour of play time, it wasn't worth the download size (damn bandwidth caps).

The email does say we will get a code on the day of the beta so hopefully that means we can download it early.

oh, didn't know that the resources were available too now, neat, I only knew about the region pics.

And mhmm yeah I suppose, I just thought for a beta of "let's get as great of a GAF region as we can in 4h" we should all preferably focus on just 1 city, but since we'll probably be lots and some people have more time than others, 16 cities should be good. AS LONG AS NOBODY BUILDS UPWIND OF ME.

FYI if anyone wants to know how region interaction works:


Each of the highways connects a 4-city cluster. Those 4 cities in that cluster share stuff that can be shared through roads (fire, police, ambulance, power, water, etc.)

Some cities are next to water, like lakes or rivers. Those port cities can share resources with any other city that is next to that same body of water. Good for trading resources like oil, coal, etc.

Some cities have railroad connections. Those rail-connected cities can share resources and commuters/tourists with any other city that is connected to that same rail line.

by the end of the second closed beta, I was convinced that they are not too small. Dont know how to elaborate, but there's enough land and enough management to keep you busy and challenged.

I was definitely getting 30+ FPS, 0 stutter.

Oddly enough, I sometimes had problems loading (the loading screen would just keep going for 5mins, I force-closed the app, re-start, then the city would load in 5 seconds), but I think that was more of a problem with it being a beta client than my computer.
