it's good but it's pretty safe. nothing wrong with that.
The snippet more or less gives the song away. If you like it then logically you should like the full song. There aren't any surprises, but it's solid as hell.
Business picks up right when that snippet stops.
Probably the best theme since "A View to a A Kill" at least.

So this is gonna be the first Craig movie where I feel like it's finally going to have all the "regulars" of a bond movie. Kind hyped. I'm still not sure I like that Craig has gotten his own universe to play with disconnected from all the history.

The pace of the music and Adele's drawl don't really change. It's pretty damn good, but I was kinda waiting for a punch that never came.

Pretty good on the whole, but yeah, it'd be better without the backing vocals that kick in in the latter choruses.

Quick thoughts:
The backing vocals aren't appropriate, the bridge has some really clunky lines and isn't very interesting, and the ending isn't that amazing either. Not a disappointment, but I think the song starts strong and doesn't really go anywhere. Adele has a great voice and is perfect for a Bond theme, and this is just the kind of song she needed to do, with the exception of a solid ending.
Really, this is the song that should have been in Quantum of Solace. QoS's song keep getting worse and worse in my eyes. What a mistake.

the radio rip was pretty bad quality, not worth pulling out good headphones for, but good enough to get an idea how it would work for the movie intro

So, you're hosting someone else's rip of the song, without crediting the person who ripped it, or even the radio station that aired it, and padded the post with previous stories and Skyfall images? Kinda scummy.
That song is boring and sounds like a knock off even with Bassey singing it. Another Day to Die is a bad song, but this shouldn't be elevated as a result.
Edit: even the titles for QoS are bad. I haven't watched that movie in a long time, and I remember defending it as "not as bad as people say", but I might be coming around to it.

I can't imagine that would have been the final version but in any case I love that song. I see your points but I really do prefer that song anyway.

Maybe the actual version in the intro won't have the backing vocals. Sounds like something a radio edit would have but not the film version. Here's hoping anyway. They're not massively bad, just kind of unnecessary.
