Who gives a shit.

It's just the same tired Zelda game we've been playing since OoT.

don't say it or you'll jinx it!

I honestly can't imagine it happening... I mean, to beat Ocarina in terms of design is one thing, but to beat the nostalgia factor is near impossible as far as I'm concerned.

It's alkaline, dude

Anyway, let's hope we will not wait too much for more reviews.
Sorry, I'm lacking in knowledge been trying to keep myself pure by staying out of SS threads. I threw away my promise ring this morning and gave into HYPE.

On Gamerankings, it's still first since 1998. But you know the interesting thing? If this will not be the best Zelda ever made, Miyamoto will not let Aonuma make Zeldas anymore. Not sure if he was kidding.....

Always nice to have some positive reviews justify my pre-order. Can't wait to dust off the Wii.

Goddamn. The first Zelda I'm not hyped for gets a 10.

Wii's been collecting massive amounts of dust since Mario Galaxy 2 and I don't really have much time for gaming anymore.

But EDGE 10 is kind of a big deal!
You guys should clean your houses, that's gross.

One of the few things I'm proud of is that I never looked at SS's spoiler thread. I suspect some of the disappointment I had with TP was also due to the spoiler-ish discussion on Gaf back in 2005/2006.
I seriously want to enjoy this new Zelda. And I seriously want to not be bored as I was with TP.

OoT is the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club of video games. Hugely influential? Check. Stands the test of time? Yep. Overrated? At least a little. Still mind-blowing when you strip away the nostalgia? Absolutely.

There's something strange about Skyward Sword. I haven't played it yet, most of us haven't, but somehow I feel like I have known both Ghirahim and Zelda for a very long time, as if they have been characters that I was grown with since my childhood; there's just this feeling of intimacy that they radiance, I don't know. (I guess part of Ghriahim is thanks to Burntpork, but I have no explanation for Zelda)

This game is just gonna be too good, it'll be an experience.

I've already paid for the WM+ bundle, but it's still great to see that the review scores are up there. The wait continues to stretch out...

Finishing it on 3DS again (thus refreshing my memory) I can tell you that it is one of the few games I really don't think they're overrated. Obviously excluding technical limits due to the hardware, I cannot see anything that could have been made better. And you?

His avatar has a cartoon, of course he likes Nintendo games.

My Wii has been collecting dust for a long time, and because I hate Wii so much, I honestly haven't even given this game a second look. So a couple questions:

1) Is it playable with buttons and d-pads only? Do I have to shake my controller?
2) (Maybe a stupid question) Is there any backwards compatibility with Wii-U planned for Wii games? Will you be able to play this and other Wii games on the Wii-U?

1-No
2-Yes. But don't expect anything more than straight emulation(no AA or upscaling).

Meh, the answer to #1 is a dealbreaker for me. Arm getting tired after 10 minutes of play, like every other Wii game I've ever played, kills any possible enjoyment the game might bring.

If the answer to #2 is yes though, how does this work if there is no Wii-mote for the Wii-U?

Booked Friday 18th and Monday 21st off work a few weeks back in anticipation for this. Gonna pick up my pre-order on UK launch day and not leave the house for 4 days afterwards. Can't wait!

I agree, I'm just giving it the doubt of the benefit.

If 10 minutes of playing Skyward Sword makes you tired, you have serious health problems.

Honest question: do you have some kind of muscular disorder or atrophy? I'm asking because I can't imagine a healthy person getting tired after 10 minutes of playing, well, any Wii game.

Have you played it yet?

Trust me, my arm gets plenty of exercise ;-)
Oh.

Did you get tired playing Twilight Princess?

Because imagine that amount of movement, just with more precise controls. It's not like you'll be required to flail your arms around.

Haven't you tried to swing just your wrist?

Waiting for the media blackout to pay off

I know very little about this game, it will be surprising and I'm sure I'll have a blast playing it.

The controls are very different from Twilight Princess.

I'd imagine your porn collection is very extensive!

Ok, but if you're claiming that other Wii games make your arm tired, that means there's something not right. Because trust me, having played lots of Wii games for hours at a time, none of them make my arm tired. Obviously this game will require more movement than most other games, but if currently existing games tire you out, understand that you're an exception. Maybe you're just swinging the wiimote a lot harder than you have to?

Holy shit, who it's like a time machine to 2006!
Every old complaint is new again.

Guys, it's 2011. If people are STILL bitching about getting tired, just let them miss out on the awesomeness.

This reminds me that I still need to play that game.

People should just admit they're too lazy to move their arms, not say they feel tired.

It's for their own good - Best to rile them up now so they don't violently explode when the PS4 and Xbox 720 have motion controls right out of the box.

Surely with the amount of fitness games this generation the whole "my arm gets tired after 10 minutes of waggle" argument should be done and dusted.

I on the other hand have been going to the gym 5 times a week for the last 3 months, I ought to be able to beat this game in a weekend, ROAR!

I can already hear them huffing and puffing as they bang away on their keyboard!

Feet will be shot, honor will be discussed, and there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
I will be IRL popcorn.gif-ing through all of it.

Wow! Honestly, I didn't expect it to be this good, from the two reviews so far.

35 hours is plenty of playing time, but for Zelda games, that's still short because Zelda games feel like it goes by too quickly. I poured in over 60 hours on Twilight Princess but I still felt like it was too short!

Is it really the best Zelda ever made? That's a very bold statement. I know I'll love it but I do want to see what other major reviewers give it.

With that said, I'm excited.

Your arm shouldn't get tired. The movements should still be pretty basic, and Zelda games have never been combat-heavy, so you'll get a ton of breaks. This isn't Wii Sports, after all.
