The CD comes with all copies of the first print, Limited Edition or not.

I didn't know that...

So is this waggle only? I'm curious how it will affect its scores from other places if it is.

Dude it's waggle free, if only for the fact that you'll die a painful death if you waggle.
Now if you want a shitty controlling sword game there's 2 other systems for you

You didn't want the CD it came along with?

well, that comes with both... right?... RIGHT!?

edit: yes. it does. phew.

its weird that i couldnt get that pre-order back though. its not like i didnt put my bid in at the time i needed to. its not like they are no longer enough in existence (since there are currently NONE in existence and it was a pre-order that existed up to 5 minutes before i called amazon about it) why couldn't they just... un-cancel it?

Don't know why it's funny but I meant can you use traditional controls or is it motion gaming only.
The only thing you need to know is that it's shitty control free.

I'm trying to avoid spoilers so I don't want to read the review but does it say anything about the left handed mode?
They offer a service where they send a big burly man round to your house who forces you to use the right handed controls.

He's laughing because waggle is not the same as motion controls.

On advice of EatChildren -

I've heard it from inside the publisher that Edge are going to give this a 10. That much may or may not be revealed at the Golden Joysticks tomorrow night, as the 25th anniversary is being celebrated at the event. I'm not sure when the next issue is published, but its soon - it'll have a gold cover, fancy print and some art of Link slashing his sword on the front.

If I'm wrong, I'll take the bullet for it. I trust my source.

If Edge gives it a 10, I'll buy a Wii and post pics.

35 hours is nuts. I don't buy that. 20 hours at best to complete the main quest. I can see the side quests add some significant hours to them to reach 35, maybe 40 hours.
Guy who's played it = "35 hours"
Guy who hasn't played it = "20 hours at best".

I don't know who to believe.

Can't wait to drink the tears of people who refuse to accept Skyward Sword's critical acclaim because it's "kiddy."

Well earlier in the thread someone mentioned reviewers knocking it for "lolwaggle" so I didn't know. I was just curious if you could play it with traditional controls too.

Those people still exist?

are we really getting excited about a 10 from edge? i mean, of course they're gonna give zelda a 10. it's edge.

they are reputed for their "good game bias."

The only Zelda that had a 10 from them was Ocarina of Time, so I say its pretty good reason to get excited.

Well I'm not a fan of "kiddy" usually but I loved Wind Waker for instance. Good games transcend style preference. It's no worse than people complaining about too dudebro or too brown though.

I had the same problem with Halo. That game made me remember Power Rangers for some reason... can't stand that kiddiness.

People are strange.

HYPE!!!!11

I remember back when seeing an Edge 10 was like encountering Bigfoot. Then in 2007 things started to change. They would never have given a game like Rock Band 3 or GTA IV a 10 back in the past. Weird how they diluted this once incredibly prestigious thing that defined their brand.

Not to say Skyward Sword won't be brilliant. I fully expect it to be. I'm just a little skeptical of Edge 10s these days.

Yeah, it seems like the floodgates opened when they gave Halo 3 a 10.
Since then there have been seven more.

I remember when an Edge 10 used to be a mythical being too.

That's true for just about every single site or mag these days. 10s are far more frequent than they used to be.

I hope SS will truly be 10 worthy. But seeing reviewers give it such high score just doesn't anything for me to be honest.

It's not like Edge is throwing out tens like candy and quite a few are totally justified in my opinion.

But really, what matters is whether or not the game is any good. Let's hope it is. Signs are positive.

To be fair, the amount of content and speed of feature maturation has been faster this gen than any other. Gameplay might be similar across a lot of titles, but there's been a big push especially toward expanding online options (theatre modes, upload to youtube, persistent leveling, etc).

The level of quality is also generally a lot higher than it's historically been, even if certain genres have outed others for mass appeal.

There's a kind of misguided outcry particularly on enthusiast forums like GAF for "the good old days." But right now we have it pretty good.

Agreed, I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if SS knocks WW off the list as my favorite Zelda. And if this game really is as good as the initial reactions lead us to believe, it'll be a nice to see GAF stop posting about "style over substance". You can have both

Obviously not me. I retracted my statement in the follow-up post, but I still think 20-25 hours for the MAIN quest sounds about right, if you don't dawdle about too much. Add about 10-15 hours max for all the bonus stuff and you should get 100% in about 40 hours, based on my experience with previous Zelda titles.

I could also be completely wrong though, and I sincerely hope I am. It's just that I think 35 hours is a very very long time.
