Dear God...

EDIT: He says so far it's getting a 9.9 because of the flying motion controls he doesn't like.

Pretty sure he was kidding about the 9.9. He's not going to have any idea about what score he'll give it till he's done.

Yep it seems he is. He's already saying that so far he thinks it's the best 3D zelda. He also said this game is to ocarina what Mario Galaxy is to Mario 64.
They shouldn't be allowed to say this shit, makes me super hyped.

I asked at Gamestop if there were any limited editions for Zelda, guy said no.

Wait? Yes there's a limited edition! Unless he meant there's wasn't any left.

*edit* Nevermind, found it:
Oh dear. It appears that I have accidentally preordered that bundle. Whatever shall I do?

I'm going to hate it. I'm going to hate it. I'm going to hate it.

That is a hell of a statement.

I liked Mario 64, but I loved Galaxy.

I loved OoT, so I don't even know where that puts Skyward Sword.

That's not necessarily encouraging to some GAFfers

THere are people who dislike the Galaxy games

I don't know about anyone else, but I really dug the motion controls we got in Ocarina of Time. I'm really glad Skyward Sword is staying close to that mold.

Remember when we were flying in Ocarina of Time? So awesome.

Shut the f up with that hyperbole. Ah damnit! Any of you guys want to loan me a Wii for a weekend :)

Hey as one of those peeps let me explain. The Galaxy games are sublime in their platforming design but I just couldn't get into them and I thought it was a fault of the game but its not its a fault with me. I realized I just don't care for platforming games anymore. Because of that I will always look back at SM64 with rose tinted glasses since it was the best game I had ever played at the height of my platforming obsession.

I was thinking the same.

Don't get me wrong. I loved Galaxy 1 and 2, but they aren't the pinnacle of Mario, like some would try to argue. There were a few things I think should have been done differently, but that's a story for another day.

Galaxy 1 and 2 aren't just the pinnacle of Mario, they are the pinnacle of 3D platforming.

The games are so phenomenally better than the other 3D Mario titles it's like Nintendo didn't bother just raising the bar, but eliminated it completely. Nothing else this generation has felt as fresh and exhilarating.

I just got back from a winery and have had some drinks, so apologies if this is more hyperbolic than necessary. But really there are few games that have made me happy to play them. Like, not just occasionally glad or satisfied during the experience, but smiling ear to ear, nonstop, awed, feeling like a kid again.

See I am hoping for that with this new Zelda. I have been chasing the feeling you just described which happened on a morning when I woke up to 3 feet of snow and the ups guy knocking on the door to leave me this:

I don't even discuss it or think about it as one of or the best game of all time but no game was more fun for me than Galaxy 1 + 2.

I said this before but I think this Zelda may be the most exciting and satisfying game for me since Resident Evil 4.

That's just from the hype though.

From what I've seen of previews, it's recapturing that magic. I didn't feel that childhood glee as much with OoT as I did with aLttP, but I know what you're talking about. The game felt endless. It felt like something to fall into and become a part of, that wasn't limited by what programmers had built into it. Something magical about that. You play it, and it constantly surprises you, it's creative and polished in all the right ways, charming and whimsical and inviting.

Skyward Sword looks to me like it's bringing back that magic, like Nintendo has opened it up and loosened their creative process to not just create something that is technically and mechanically excellent, but that allows a player to rekindle the imagination of a child.

Damn son...They should put that on the back of the box. You guys are getting me hyped! I might have to put off getting into Dark Souls and Batman so I can really just delve into this.

That sounds.. bad? I find Galaxy games boring :/

I would vehemently disagree. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is the absolute best Mario game I've ever played- and I've played them all. SMG1 is the 2nd best. Yes, that's how good they are. Pretty much gaming fucking perfection.

The Wii U launches in the spring right? A part of me wishes Nintendo had Skyward Sword with a engine capable of matching the brilliance of the art team at launch for that.

I believe Orayn I believe!

Really there's no better way to end the 25th year of zelda than to release what some are saying could be the best Zelda game. A game that takes inspiration from every game before it but turns those things on their heads while still adding new stuff. Once it's 25th year is over everyone will remember why the Zelda series has lasted this long and why despite some mistakes we still love Nintendo games just as much now as we did back when we were kids.

Oh man. I was more excited for Majora's Mask than any other Zelda game -- or actually, any game period. The weeks leading up to its release were pure torture, and the game delivered even in light of my crazy expectations. Definitely not as hyped for Skyward Sword, though... but I'm sure it'll be an excellent game regardless.

Not Spring, probably not until fall. The "re-unveiling" will occur at E3.

I always think of Nintendo as the Disney of gaming. They have their fair share of "get it out the door" cash ins, but when they get it right they get it right.

I think of Valve as Pixar in my movie-analogy world.
