This guy makes it sound like the tempered glass is acting like an insulator and makes the switch overheat more easily.
He also has adhesive shrinking from the heat.
Just checking in after about a week of use and my hori protector (the regular one not the premium) is still good and hasn't melted. No scratches on my switch (aside from some weird one on the bottom that happened when I docked it wrong I guess).
How was the application? I'm thinking of applying this, as the Orlys are MIA.

Judging by the fact that there are still zero Amazon reviews for the Orzly tempered glass screen protector, I can only assume that nobody has received theirs yet. What the hell took them so long to get these shipped out?

I got mine today! Sent via royal mail 24 from the UK it seems so I can assume the "20th February" dispatch was a complete lie by Ghub- no surprise. Came with a nice little letter of thanks from ORZLY about their Switch line and a 15% discount off their other Switch products.
Going to get a shower then get to applying this thing in the bathroom and I'll report back.
White joy cons?

So Orzly uploaded a video of their tempered glass protectors to YouTube, they run it through a few tests and demonstrate the hinge method of installing it.

A couple of us received them st the weekend. I ordered from eBay on Tuesday last week and got it on Saturday. It's been good so far, went on easy and looks great. It does lack a cut out for the light sensor though, but don't think that is an issue.Judging by the fact that there are still zero Amazon reviews for the Orzly tempered glass screen protector, I can only assume that nobody has received theirs yet. I can only tell you what my orzly protector looks like. The Orzly in their video has a cut out for the light sensor though.
Was this an Amazon
UK order from G-Hub?

So I've applied the ORZLY protector. Used 2 bits of sellotape to line it up and it's pretty much perfect. Protector has a cut out for the light sensor. Feels great to the touch. I've managed to get it with zero specs underneath too.
Sadly my first protector was actually cracked in the box so not a good start. I'll get onto them to hopefully get a replacement. Luckily second one was absolutely perfect.
UK G-Hub Amazon order. I ordered back on Jan 20th.
You actually received it?
Mine was dispatched a week last Monday(6th March) and I've still received fuck all. Was meant to arrive by yesterday at the latest.
They said they used Royal Mail, but man with how long it's taken I don't believe for one second it's coming from the UK.
Edit: Oh just saw above, what a crock of shit.
Incidentally did they not even include stickers or anything to line it up? Usually they offer that so you don't have to mess around with sellotape.
For Amazon US orders, they explicitly said they were doing that. They said they had to mark the orders shipped or else Amazon was going to cancel them. I sent a few emails about it and each time their answer was that, even though the order was marked as shipped, it wouldn't actually ship until on or after March 3.But yeah GHub definitely seem to have been marking orders dispatched just to lock them in as opposed to actually physically dispatched. I expect yours will turn up today or tomorrow.
Yeah so wow.
Using the dock without a screen protector I hadn't gotten any scratches. Put a screen protector on and dock is scratching the left bezel (on the screen protector).
Shows how little room for variance there is on these docks and it is a major design flaw of Nintendo to use such cheap plastic the docks are bending being shipped.

That's not even remotely possible. The switch has a fan that disperses heat from the top of the unit. A screen protector is not going to hold heat in.
Tempered glass?
Glad they admitted it. They didn't seem to want to admit they'd done that to me when it was obvious it was the case. For Amazon US orders, they explicitly said they were doing that. Well no.
Their only issue is that they did not include the screen protector in the box.
A solution that cheap to their problem is not "bad design" per say, you have the solidity of plastic with protection of glass.
That they did not include it despite it not costing them a dime is troubling, clearly.
I wonder how many issues (screen protector related) some people are having is due to not letting the system sit for a while after applying the protectors and using it right away (even in the dock).
Well it's been over a week no scratches, no screen protector so far so good.
Why is this necessary? Do glass protectors have adhesive in them? Plastic ones just hold onto the screen by themselves, so what could possibly be gained by letting it "settle"?

Docked my Switch for the first time today. Was ultra careful (and terrified) and no scratches showed.
I'm tempted to get the tempered glass screen protector that everyone has been raving about, but I was wanting to know any downsides to it. Does it overheat the Switch? Does it add additional bulk (in mm) to the system? Does it leave a residue on it if I were to take it off in the future. Finally, how necessary is a screen protector (would love to hear from both people who have one and those that don't).
I had the same kind of spot behind my Switch, right on the logo though, it was fresh out of the box too, so not cause by heat I assume.
The adhesive is another issue, though Orzly said that they tested a docked Switch with Zelda for 6 hours and it did nothing.
Functionally it's the same. If the dock had no rails/faceplate, there would be no opportunity for grit to grind the screen in the dock.the dock itself probably isn't scratching the screen its probably grit that gets trapped where the screen meets the border of the screen that small gap probably collects things like sand/grit/etc and as they are pressed into the dock become loose or dislodged then that grit basically gets pressed into the screen and the dock rail which is causing it to get scratched.
similar thing happened to full screen cases where grit gets between the screen and the cover and basically just grinds between the two surfaces. this is on gorilla glass which is more scratch resistant than a plastic switch screen.
I feel like heat is going to be a problem for the Switch no matter what. There isn't any air flow at the back or front anyways, its all through the top, so while I could imagine the glass keeping some heat, I think the difference would be negligible.
Mobile devices get hot as fuck. Playing games on my HTC 10 is murder sometimes.
Pokemon Go on a hot day is torture on my phone, but I never had any serious problems.
So I can imagine a docked Switch in a hot room is going to approach no bueno status.
