I started smoking weed when I was 17. It felt like the greatest thing ever, and it made me meet a lot of people (stoners and non-stoners alike). However, as good as it was for my anxiety, it also changed my personality. I suddenly lost track of everything I was doing prior to my drug use, and even lost all interest in video games. My drug use didn't start out as occasional; when I started smoking weed, I smoked every day. 5-6 months after I started, I realized what I was doing and became alarmed that my school average went from an 80 to a 50. I almost didn't graduate. Some of my motivation seems to be permanently gone too, but maybe it's because I haven't quit smoking weed, I've only slowed way down. Now, I don't like to blame the drug, because it's MY fault for abusing it and losing self-control. However, you don't realize how bad your habit becomes unless you abstain for a long time.
I most likely would never have touched cocaine if it weren't for my prior drug use. The fact that weed is illegal and it doesn't seem like that big of a deal, a stoner will think his irrational logic can apply to hard drugs as well. Even though I haven't gotten hooked to cocaine or suffered any bad long-term effects, it doesn't take much to realize how addictive the shit is. You can't try cocaine pretending it will be your only time doing it. You may think that way before trying it, but there's no way in hell you're not gonna try to get that wonderful feeling again eventually.
Right now, I got myself out of trouble. I'm doing good for myself, and I still smoke once in a while. It feels much more balanced that way. I do miss the days of getting high everyday, but once you realize how pathetic that sounds, you get really depressed. One day, I'll quit forever. My longest abstinence record is 2 months, and my year-long record is 18 days.
To the person wondering about drug detection times, if you try weed for the first time and don't intend to make it a habit after that, the metabolites will be flushed out in 2-5 days. For extremely heavy users, it can take up to 3 months. If you're still unsure, you don't have to smoke it. You can eat weed brownies, they're more fun. They also deposit much less THC in your bloodstream.
Ecstasy is water-soluble, and detection times are roughly from 2-7 days. However, ecstasy causes selective brain damage and can make you feel like shit for weeks. You might want to rethink the consequences of drug use. If you have an addictive personality, I'd recommend you stay the hell away from all drugs.
