SNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.

So all I need to do is unzip the new version, copy my game folder from the old Hackshi folder to the new one and select dump custom rom in the menu?

All the custom borders stuff will stay on the console?

1. Drop the new files over the old files
2. Plug in SNES Classic
3. Kernel > Flash Custom Kernel

Edit: Yeah, you shouldn't lose anything.

Soo, anyone knows how to edit the packed.png to delete the selection boxes?

Edit: Remade my Super GnG one so it had light effects like my starfox one.
I made spotlights for the skulls (horror effect) and the manual at the top right.

I added --retroarch to the end of the command line for Terranigma, but now the game just doesn't launch at all (the screen goes black for a second, then it returns to the main game select screen). Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Make sure when you resync that it's not compressing it.
So if I installed all my stuff using the first "final" version released... Is there any reason why I would want to reflash using the latest version?
I think the extra MB will be useful.

I think you need the config and dump folders too.

Finished! Total of 62 games added, the majority of which are Rare games. I’d add more, but I’m assuming it still crashes at 63+?

Just an FYI to people, 63 games doesn't seem to be a hard limit before getting C8 errors when shutting off your console.

I had 61 games and started getting them. I then removed Star Ocean (8+MB with the fan-translation), and then added 4 games that were all under 1 MB each (so 64 games), and no errors still.

So it's still around there but there's a small amount of wiggle room based on size.

So does Seiken Densetsu 3 work natively now with the new version of Hakchi?

Would like to know this as well.

I tried playing it Retroarch and didn't realize how bad the slowdown issue was. I'd much rather play it with the native emulator if the Hi-Res mode stuff is finally fixed.

Huh...so I flashed using the latest version of Hakchi and now it'S telling me I'm using 107.7MB / 172.1MB? Isn't it supposed to be out of 300 or something like that?

You probaby have a lot of save states. The rewind data makes them big and due to the way they are stored and hackchi reports the filesystem they'll reduce the available space number rather than increase the used space number.

Hmm ok, did they change that in one of the recent version? My flash from the first "final" release still said 300something MB before I flash it tonight.

Not that I really care since I already have all the games I want on it but anyway.

Thanks!

But the hardware is the same or similar to nes mini. Can't the native nes mini emulator be installed on it?
Maybe somewhere down the line this'll be possible. I think NES games look really good on SNES Classic Edition using retroarch though (I only tested 6 so far).

I'm a little confused; do the ~60 games you can install in a single folder before getting the C8 error include the pre-installed ones? Do I still have to add "--retroarch" to the command-line with the new version, even when Hakchi informs me I have to use another emulator for the game to work?

I’m not sure about your first question, but as far as problem games are concerned Hakchi is just informing you that you’ll need to use other means to run them, you still need to manually append ‘—retroarch’

Success. So here we go again.

v2.21b (internal version 2.0.21.32)

  • Better games compatibility for SNES Mini (updated database of preset IDs, better LoROM/HiROM detection).
  • Built in database of problem games, so hakchi2 will ask you to switch to 3rd party emulator automatically (e.g. RetroArch).
  • Original games are not using extra memory space anymore, so we have some extra space for additional games (thanks to DanTheMan827!)
  • "remove_thumbnails" mod no longer slows down SNES Mini's startup (thanks to brian91292!)
  • Bundled with new mod "snes_custom_filters" which allows to disable scanlines in CRT mode or enable bilinear filter in 4:3 mode. Please read mod description before install.
  • Bundled with new mod "extra_space". This is experimental mod for SNES Mini which moves your save-states data to unused partition of NAND flash. This partition is only 50MB in size but it will free some space for games because SNES Mini's save-states are huge. Please read mod description before install.
  • Bugfixes.

To update, simply drop the new files on top of your old files.

Be sure to do a "Kernel -> Flash custom kernel" this time.

What exactly does the original games not taking space mean? Are they just run from nand now?

If you dropped the new folders into the hakchi folder it should be good to go and then just flash the new custom kernel I believe. (Overwriting the old folders)

The important folders you'd want (inside the new hakchi folder) to have from before would be snes_games, dump and config.

Crap I don't think it worked , i dragged the hakchi2.exe into the directory where all the folders are at and replaced the old application but my games folder is only showing the original games. I flashed custom kernel.

You should unzip all the folders and the hakchi2.exe into the hakchi folder. Not just put the hakchi.exe in there.

So you probably just replaced the custom one you already had. But that's strange if you don't see the games you had.

Anyone else have better advice?

I just tried the new updated hack tool and still no sound when its hacked. It worked previously on 2.20 and then I tried installing Retroarch and Terranigma and the sound cut out.

No matter how many times I uninstall and reload the original kernel, I can't get sound when I rehack it.

Perhaps I broke the hardware in some way when I first hacked it.

I'm using Virtualbox as I am a Mac user.

No idea why I'm not getting sound while hacked. Makes no sense at all.

Like I said, it worked great hacked and then I installed Retroarch and Terranigma and things went to shit.

I installed the original dump files and all.

I almost want to ask the original hackers or the thread starter to take a donation of my system to see whats wrong.

I have another system on its way and I'm not sure if I want to try again.

I walked my buddy through over the phone and his works fine.

People have had problems if using a sound bar, could that be it?
Trying to add retroarch. Does it take a long timento reinstall the driver or.....
You might be having driver signature issue. This may help you.
