SNES Mini Classic Hacking | More games, more borders, more gooder.

What's the latest version now? Any reason I should wait longer for better hack/compatibility?

v2.21d (internal version 2.0.21.53) is the latest version.

There's no need to wait for a better hack, since Hakchi is now "complete". Cluster's going to keep working on it, but it already does most of what you will ever want it to do. There will probably be some new features later on, but the core of the program is not going to change.

Editing the packed.png is a pain in the arse. One pixel on the sheet is basically a random number of pixels (2-4) on the screen. So alligning stuff is difficult and frustrating.

So I was able to Hex edit and apply the IPS patch to Tetris & Dr. Mario. It now fits correctly within the border, but won't respond to button input once you're on the "choose game" screen!
Heeelp

Anyone? Maybe I have a bad dump or did the process wrong somehow?

Is there any way to do some kind of overclocked modded rom for starfox 1 and 2? I finally got around to doing the first level of star fox 1 and man, the framerate is brutal.
I remember reading Canoe allows the emulated special chip to be set to double or even triple speed which increases the framerate but not the gameplay speed.
Does someone know how to do this?

Really love this little thing but just ended up spending the afternoon playing Cave Story again.

Anyone got some suggestions for multiplayer games that anyone could play? I saw Tetris Battle Gaiden in a Giant Bomb video and that looked good, but I want something people that don't play much or any games can join in on and wonder if the powers in it would make it too complex.

Ok thanks.

Just need to sort out which games I want on it now. Might take a while to decide.

So what is the procedure to update when a new version of hakchi is released? I downloaded 2.21d but it didn't see any of the games and stuff I added with 2.21c. Everything is still fine in 2.21c though.

Is there something I have to do to perform an "upgrade" to the latest release?

Slowing down on the whole border thing, but realised I had been terrible by not making a Goemon one. Fixed that.

And Harvest Moon.

I hate to ask, but could you take another look at the chrono border? There are some white dots in the art that shouldnt be there. If not, no problem I can live with it.

But you did such a great job on the border as a whole that Id love to get rid of those small blemishes. I dont have photoshop or the skills to use it is why Im asking you.

Could you show me where?

Without wanting to reopen the Mini vs PC debate, for me one thing I absolutely love about the Mini is how it handles savestates and rewinding. Is there a way for PC emulators to do the exact same thing, particularly a rewind that also allows you to replay your own gameplay forward if you rewind too much (not talking about the typical fast forward that simply accelerates the game, but actually replaying what you did and letting you take control at any time).

Maturity, bitches.

ZSNES had a rewind feature, but it was a one way trip.

Yeah, it's definitely not a feature I've ever seen on any other emulator. Being able to actually scrub through 2-3 minutes of gameplay and resume anywhere is something I hope newer PC emu's pick up on.

Help, I cannot create any save states anymore on my snes mini.

It gives me the c4 error. Are there any solutions for this?

I have around 89 games on my system (gba/gbc and snes). I have them devided into three folders, one with the original 21 games and one folder with 58 added snes games. 10 gba/gbc games are in a third folder.

Thanks in advance for any help!

How much free space do you have?

Thank you all so much, especially you, Robin64.

I've got all my games loaded up, cool little sprite icons that are much more readable than the tiny box art, and custom frames that load up automatically per game. It's wonderful.

This little system really is magical.

Thanks again.

Never mind, I solved the issue.

It seems I had the SNES9x module installed, which eats huge amounts of free space for savestates.

Deinstalled it and now I can save my games again! xD

Do the newer Hakchis allow you to use RetroArch such that it works like Canoe for save states? I know they figured that all out for the NES Classic Mini kachikachi emulator, but I didn't know if that's all been cracked for SNES yet since I haven't heard anyone talk much about it.

Also I know the rewind feature is programmed differently for different genres (longer rewind for RPGs, shorter for action games). Is there an installation flag that determines which ROMs are which in Hakchi?

Here are a choice of two Famicom Detective Club Part 2 boxarts that I have mocked up after finding some usable assets!

I did my best to mimic the SFC box design but added the Nintendo Power Kiosk logo as the game was distributed from those machines. Use if so desired!!!

Has anyone made the arcade cabinet borders for turtles in time??? Otherwise the red curtains work so well. I seem to remember the curtains in the super gameboy / snes too

Two quick questions I hope someone can help with please...

1. I've added a few NES games onto my system but would like to have them in their own folder and not mixed in with the SNES ones, what's the best way to do this?

2. I've done the custom borders thing but can I delete the originals that were copied over to the new BG folder in the hakchi2 folder?

https://www.reddit.com/r/miniSNESmods/comments/76ofxi/univers_font_for_snesrelated_media_usage/

Good thing at the size the box art ends up at, no one can really tell that I didn't use the exact same fonts the original (like Nintendo of today, I've mostly been using Arial).

If you're going to use Arial, you might as well use Helvetica. It's cleaner Arial. Just don't go too bold and it won't be stereotypical.

However, Univers is an excellent font and I wish I could put it on the system itself.
