i have over 300 kills with the rainmaker

rainmaker + those small mines and you can get around 15-20 kills. shoot from a distance and if someones chasing you run while leaving the mines behind you
What type of plane do you use with the setup?

I don't understand the Rainmaker either. I have such trouble hitting people with it, but it seems like some people almost have a lock on with it. I do crazy ass maneuvers and still get smoked.
I've seen most players equipped with the Rainmaker holding the brakes while shooting away at someone and use the standard machine gun along with it to score some kills. Don't know what to tell you if you were already doing that, though.

Does this game not require Gold membership? I didn't have time to follow it up, but I quickly connected to a remote co-op game and saw the cursor moving around. I need to test this tonight. :eek:O
The co-op portion of the game is offline only.

Also using Rainmaker + Machine Guns, and mines. I get the doghouse almost every match easily. Just hold the button down and shoot the guys going in a straight line. Even from across the map you can kill guys in less than 3 seconds that way.

Is anyone else finding the balance broken? I pretty much dominate online matches using leech missiles and mines. Everything else is crap for me.

Leech missiles still work a lot of the time in MP for me, but it's so easy to avoid them once you learn the mechanics. It's also really boring to use the same weapons over and over to me.

Leech missiles are easy to avoid if you're not distracted by something else and I use the Shotgun to take care of both the Squidos and the bigger mines.

That said, balance-wise some weapons like the Tarpedo don't seem as useful as others.

Captured two video's like I mentioned before. The first being a Pigskin match (still my favorite gametype) and the other's a vid of completing both Bird of War campaign missions with all gold medals if anyone (along with voodoopanda I mean) was struggling there. None of the other SP missions seem too hard on Veteran difficulty though now that I got the achievements for 'em, so I probably won't be recording further single player stuff.

Pretty much it. Although people with doghouses are a bitch to kill with Rainmaker + regular gun. I might get half their hp before they will slip away.

Been playing multiplayer for a while but I'm starting to get a little annoyed with some of the bugs. Freezing when joining matches and also during matches still continues. Another issue and one of the more ridiculous moments was when I would get stuck somersaulting indefinitely (twice) until someone runs into me or kills me. :lol A few matches I also had a problem with hitting literally anyone, I couldn't even scratch a sliver of health. It's possible that it could have been lag but all the units seemed to move fluidly though.

Only big problem I've come across is the occasional freezes while loading games or doing other things in the menus. It happens often enough to be pretty annoying but not enough to be really game breaking, usually can have pretty long stretches of gaming between freezes and I haven't had in happen during a game yet.

Tried the demo out on a whim, got hooked and bought it after the first match. Damn, this game is great.

Heavy Rain+Mines seem to be the best combo for me thus far, but still have plenty of combinations to try out.

What's the trick to taking out blimps? I hit the escort as fast as possible, but 3/4 times it still ends up blowing up my base. Is there a weak spot? I seem to do better going for the gondola vs the air bags but it's hard to tell if I'm doing any more damage.

There's a map pack out for this game, 2 new maps for 80 points. The maps are pretty groovy, one is way up in the sky and is totally open except for large clouds you can fly into, and people can't see inside the clouds. Plus some zeppelins on each side, including flying turrets, and lightning blasts from the clouds.

The other map is this huge mountain with bases on either side, a cave system to get through and it seems like quite a few little paths and tunnels throughout the map. A huge rock avalanche happens, rocks going everywhere, even in the tunnels.

Just bought this game and the 2 extra maps. It was either this or Perfect Dark. I chose this. Have yet to play it though. Was that the right choice gaf? The youtube videos looked awesome.

Haven't been getting many doghouses lately because of the damn weaponeer achievement. God some of the weapons seem really useless after owning so hard with Rainmaker. Most of the multiple missle based weapons just seem really weak, even compared to the leech.

Here's some footage I recorded where I'm flying around in the new maps (a tour if you will) if anyone's still on the fence about them. Not that it's a particularly difficult decision to begin with, considering the price.

I don't think people get booted out of the pre-game lobby or anything as soon as one of the maps show up by the way, if they haven't bought the pack yet. You're buying an unlock key, so I assume both were already included with the game from the get-go, which is probably why there don't appear to be any cumbersome matchmaking conflicts between those who did purchase the new maps and those who didn't if I were to take a guess. Normally I'd be against this method of selling downloadable content, but 80 Microsoft Points for two maps ain't too bad. Plus it's not as if the developers restricted them to DLC specific playlists, fortunately.

Shotgun + rockets seemed pretty efficient to me. Just spam both of 'em at close or mid-range shortly after the shields drop and the blimp shouldn't reach your base. And there aren't any specific weak spots.

You can always 'earn' those kills in single player or against bots if you don't want to deal with the trickier weapons in multiplayer.

Didn't know that, thanks. Seriously, some of the matches I'll only end up with 3 or 4 kills with the weapon.

Anyone know when's a good time to play the new maps?

I usually play at night and the mountainous castle map came up only twice, the sky fight did once and failed (it apparently needs 14 people minimum, which failed ...)

I thought this about the PS2 Snoopy game as well, but the 3D characters remind me a lot of the old Peanuts Viewmaster reels, which used dolls of the characters to recreate scenes from the comics.

I don't know if it was intentional or not (I'm guessing not), but it's a neat little homage nonetheless. Even if it is an inadvertent one.

And the game's still not up, dang it! I'd like to play it a bit before going to bed.

I thought the same thing when I played the demo. I really loved that look.

Got in touch with the devs regarding a psn release. I quote

"Up to Sony - if they want it, we'd love to do it!"

Get on it sony ninjas!

Just curious, but has there been any news on how this game sold?

I bought the game and enjoyed it, but noticed that it dropped off fairly quickly. Has it sold enough to be counted as a success (from the perspective of the pub / dev?)

I bought this today for 400 points (DOTW) and ended up spending about four hours playing it with friends. It goes a long way to making up for not being able to play Crimson Skies on Live anymore and I'll definitely buy the 80 point extra maps tomorrow.

Anyone else buy this in the XBLA sale?

I jumped online quickly today and I'm in love with this! I played the hell out of Crimson Skies back in the day and this is a sequel to that game through and through.

I noticed that it keeps saying "the host has left the game" very often between matches... I'm thinking it might be because I didn't buy any of the DLC maps... is that why it's happening? If so I may as well just buy the stuff cuz this game is incredible. I knew I was a moron for waiting so long to buy it.

I just achieved Flying Ace rank yesterday! I'm so hopelessly addicted to this game!

The sad thing I noticed from browsing the leaderboards is that most people play online matches to get EXACTLY enough points to get the flying ace achievement and then stop playing immediately.
This just proves how damaging achievements are to video games.

It means that people either:

A) played a game a lot longer than they wanted to just to trigger the achievement

or

B) played a game they loved until the final achievement and then moved on from the very game they love just because no stupid achievement is waiting for them anymore

I find either scenario very disturbing. It's a shame what is happening to games right now.

I'm going to stick with this game. It's the best deathmatch and best overall multiplayer game of the generation in my eyes.

I ♥ Snoopy.

I have so many other games to play, that I would prefer there are challenging achievements that can be unlocked after a reasonable amount of time and effort, especially for a XBLA game. I totally understand the temptation to switch to another game after you get 200/200, I have something like 100 games installed on my 360 (including XBLIG games).

I actually shelved this game because I kept failing the very first mission for gold star - racing around rings. I agree with you, it's a totally overlooked game but I think they didn't understand how to market a "dark" Snoopy game, it's not really for kids, and Crimson Skies fans would have probably prefered another story based game and more giant Zeppelins.
