Frankly, I was hoping that I could get through life without one, but Advance Wars DS was just too much to resist. I picked it up along with the system at Best Buy today.
Note: I had to get one of the employees to go into the back to get AW: DS--it wasn't on shelves, and a special Nintendo DS kiosk sitting in the middle of an aisle was completely empty. Three employees had to debate for a while in order to decide whether they could get the game for me--finally one of them said, "Well, it doesn't come out until tomorrow, but that's not, like, an official thing--if someone shows up and he wants it, we should go in the back and get it." Remember that, folks.
Note 2: another employee lied through his teeth to try to get me to buy a "product replacement plan." "Nintendo's DS warranty is eight months," he actually said, "and if something goes wrong with it you have to pay to mail it back yourself." When I said I didn't want the plan he sighed and threw up his arms and said, "OKAY, THEN--I'M JUST DOING MY JOB. OKAY, THEN." Then he started going on about some Reward Zone nonsense that would involve me spending $300 at Best Buy before I broke even.
So now I have this clunky hunk of a handheld charging up so that I can play AW this evening. Winter '05 had better kick ass for this thing, because right now I'm not seeing too much else on shelves besides AW to prevent me from feeling buyer's remorse. Nintendogs, maybe? Should I join the non-gamer revolution? What else on this system is worth a damn?
