You don't need a power transformer (i.e. to convert 220v to 110v), you only need a cheap adapter made of plastic and metal just to make the plug fit in your wall/powerstrip sockets.

All Switch AC adapters are multi-voltage and work anywhere in the world as long as you can plug them in.
Getting a local AC adapter is more convenient though. I'm in the Middle East and we have same plugs as Europe. I got my Switch from Japan (which uses same plugs as America), so I ordered a Nintendo AC adapter from Amazon.es to use on my Switch in portable mode (so that I don't need to deal with an additional plug adapter), and I'll keep the AC adapter that came with the console connected to the Dock all the time, since it will be out of the way and I won't be moving it doesn't matter. Best of both worlds.

If there were to be any "blame" (for lack of a better term) placed upon an entity, who would it be. Is it just a lack of patience on us or is it squarely Nintendo and stores allowing for bulk purchases that are being scooped up for resale. Its crazy cause here i am in a situation where for a amount extra i deem as justifiable given the situation of unavailability and lack of waiting i will possibly be purchasing a console.

Yes. Also see the edit of my previous post. Getting a second AC adapter has its benefits if you plan on using your Switch in both portable and docked, so you won't need to keep taking out and reconnecting the same AC adapter every time.
ah good point! What plug type comes with the unit from amazon.es, is it Type-F?
I have power adapters for several regions already and also purchased the AC adapter (though I got mine from US Amazon). Thanks for the explanation.

I guess I'm considering plug adapters when I say power adapters, for other solutions (such as yours) I would use the term 'converter' or 'transformer' as appropriate. It's a confusing terminology for people not familiar with it, so thanks for the clarification as I'm sure it will be helpful to folks considering an international purchase.

yup! for anyone that did this amazon.es deal, look for a Type-B adapter - that'll accept anything and will work in the US.

Yes I'm sure. We knew this since the FCC filing for the Switch long before the system launched, and also there was a thread (also before launch) here showing high resolution pictures of the packaging for various Switch accessories and the AC adapter said it's multi-voltage.
I received my official AC adapter from Amazon Spain today, and even though it doesn't say so on the outside of the box. The documentation inside and the wall wart itself says it's 100-240v.

I believe with all Amazon worldwide, if you have a problem/defect with the product within 30 days of receiving it, you can return it and they will pay for shipping.

Ok so just so I am clear and don't burn my house down I could simply just buy one of those adapters to make it work in the US plugs or I could buy the US AC adapter and that will work with the console no problem either?

Somebody in the comments at http://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/nintendoswitch/ said that's a normal part of the process, so hopefully it doesn't mean anything dire.
Edit: They might be hitting back order numbers, worst case scenario should be you just wait for back order delivery date (it won't charge til it ships) and cancel if you find something better before then? It sounds like the site itself might just be having issues atm.
My order was displaying perfectly as of an hour ago, now it's doing the error thing. Oh well.
hopefully it gets sorted out and there isn't some sort of delay. Even orders on my US account are messed up for some reason.
