So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

So the girl at my local Gamestop said they just spoke with their Nintendo rep and "they won't be getting stock again until NOVEMBER." She mentioned the left joycon issues... this is a severely misinformed employee I assume? I asked her if it was really going to be 8 months before you get more stock in the store and she goes "yes that is correct."

This is impossible.

It's complete nonsense. That wouldn't be the first time a retail employee pretended to know something that is outright insane. There is a 0% chance that she is correct. If that were true they wouldn't have released this thing in March.

Probably just used to tricking people into buying used, temporarily forgetting they don't have used Switches yet

Yooo, what was the accessory situation like at BH. Do they have sets of red or sets of blue joycons? Cases and stuff?

Almost non-existent :( They did give me the impression that they get daily shipments though, maybe not of the accessories but may be worth it to call at least.

Does the Nintendo store in NYC have carrying cases in stock? I might head there during lunch but rather not go out in the snow if they're sold out of cases.

Bought one at cost from a friend and I'm trying to find a pro controllers but can't find them anywhere. I hope those joycons are comfortable

I've found them much more comfortable than I would have imagined. Zero issues when using them attached to the Switch. I haven't used the controller dingus though as I was able to snag a pro controller for when playing on tv.

However I did try to use them free handed, with a joycon in each and that was a bit too weird for me to play Zelda well enough.

Are you in the Minneapolis, MN area, by chance? What I'd really like to do is open a Cragslist ad and sell it for cost and sell it to the person who seems the most deserving. Is that self serving? I don't want to be a dick about it, but all the scalpers drive me nuts so this is my way of sticking it to them, even if just a bit.

Nah, I'm in Kansas City, and I don't blame you... That plan sounds good to me!

Found a guy who is selling one with a $50 markup after taxes. I could go pick it up now. Trying to decide if I want to pull that trigger or not...

I wouldn't. I think the stock situation will be rectified within a month.

Don't give in to scalpers also. Why should you pay more than everyone else and why should this guy make $50 off of you? It's one thing if it's a limited edition item that is out of print, but this is a major console. It will be back in stock soon. Plus, it's a much better feeling when you bring home a brand new console from retail that has never been owned by anyone else.

I'm kinda glad they're hard to find, I'd probably impulse buy one for my brother-in-law. He likes the open-worldy games, I think he'd really dig Zelda.

Nintendo NYC Update.

Sold out of console watch their twitter for restocks.

Plenty of accessories!!!

Pro controller!
Red joycons
Blue joycons
Red/blue joycon set
Color joycon straps
The blue links tunic case/starter kit
AC adaptors (upstairs)
All BOTW amiibo
SSMB Gannondorf
8-bit Link

All in stock

I've used split Joy-Con for almost 100% of my TV time with Zelda. It's hard to switch to the Pro Controller now.

Does gyro aiming work with split joys?

I had two chances to probably get one at my local Target but other things kept me from getting there. I have been back since (both of my cities Targets) and both Walmarts, and nothing...

Oh well, I am going to stop trying and just keep an eye out online or whenever I am at those places (which, having a toddler, it's like once a week).

By complete chance I picked up a canceled order Switch at Best Buy today. Nice. Target also happened to have 2 Pro controllers. Good luck to the rest of you.

Yeah I told him thanks but no thanks. Cheers!

Did you just walk in and ask if they had one? I have been checking shelves and no luck.

My friends in Philly, Toys R Us have just stocked up on grey switches. Just passed buy picked up one with a pro controller, and a neon joy con set. They say they have plenty more in stock, shipment just arrived. They have a few accessories as well (around 5 pro controllers). Good luck!

Went to Target last night and grabbed a pro controller. I think I got the last one of the original launch number. I was waiting for a restock and used one of those inventory search websites and it showed stock at that location.

LSN listings in my area are as follows:

Nintendo Switch - $450
Nintendo Switch - $425
Nintendo Switch (RARE NEON!!) - $520
Nintendo Switch - $550
Nintendo Switch (with EXTRAS!!) - $500 (sold)

I also live in an area that had a rebel flag PS4 & matching controller for sale, or trade, a few weeks ago.. so I'm not really surprised by those "prices". Thankfully I'm not too stressed about getting one at the moment, but I hope those who are have better options than what I found in my area. Good luck everyone!

She did try to up-sell me on their online bundle deals for $500 and $600 respectively. At that point I figured she was outright lying to me to try and sell those shit bundles. I don't blame her, I'm sure management is forcing this down their throats.

I gotta stop relying on amazon for nintendo products.

They're focusing way too much on their limited prime now service this week. Have the nowinstock notification setup on my phone like:

I knew I should have jumped on those neon pre-orders from other retailers when I had the chance after the Switch conference ended.

lol, why do they get to April 1st. That is ridiculous.

I just need amazon.es to ship mine T_T.

Update on mine that I ordered 12:30AM 3/8 - amazon.es changed delivery date to 3/17, but on my UPS tracking number it still shows on time with 3/13 delivery:

So I'm remaining optimistic about playing on Monday :)

I think I saw stock in my local CompUSA and Circuit City the other day. Pro Controllers too.

I'm realizing now that the biggest issue I've been having in terms of finding one of these things is just a lack of retailers that stock game consoles. I usually pre-order, but when I didn't, I could find anything pretty quick. Right now my options locally are Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, and Game Stop, and they're all hoarding them for bundles and sales flyers it seems. The guy at Toys R Us told me to "check the flyer" if I wanted to know when they get more consoles. How is a newspaper circular going to tell me the latest up to date stock numbers at a store? It'll tell me if they should be there, not if they will be. I hope when I find one it's at a Target because those have easily been the nicest people I've dealt with during all this.

I wouldn't worry about it, she probably thought you were talking about the NES Classic.

There are multiple reports of gamestop employees saying this across the US, so it's not just one single crazy misinformed response. It could be something they're being told to say to get people to buy the bundles in April? Who knows with gamestop at this point.

Yeah, who knows. Bottom line is try to get your Switch elsewhere.

I have a quick question for you guys: is Amazon US not delivering standard copies of Breath of the Wild on time? I figured I might as well just order it from them for the $47.99 price so that I'll have it whenever I can get a Switch, but don't want to order it if it's not going to actually be delivered for awhile.

Gamestop employees IME are misinformed as hell. Had one guy tell me that the single colored joycons (blue and red) are japan exclusive.

No point trying to find a switch at gamestop when they are pushing that 500-600 bundle if you ask me.

If Nintendo wasn't shipping any more consoles until November, it would kill the entire console. Either GameStop is bullshitting to sell bundles or they're severely misinformed.

My brother today has found a Switch pretty easly, but Zelda was sold out about everywhere.

Strange that they send more consoles than Zelda, considering about all would want Switch with Zelda. I'm from Italy anyway.

I'm sure they assume some % want to buy it digitally.

So $350 or $350 + taxes? If it's just $350 then that's only a $32 markup (6% sales tax here). That's not bad at all. I'd pay that if I really wanted one..
