So how bad is the Switch stock situation?

This is so frustrating. My launch day pro controller is defective with severe left stick drift, but the best Amazon could do was just refund me and tell me to reorder and they would cover the fastest shipping option. I missed Wario's tweet because I was in a meeting, so I'm still furiously refreshing hoping I can re-acquire one.

Just got back from toys r us. They had no systems, but did have 1 pro controller. I didn't buy it because I bought 3 breath of the wild amiibo. Said I wasn't going to get them, but that lasted till I saw them on the rack.

Thought about the pro controller, but that would have out the total over $100. Maybe after pay day...if it is still there.

Speaking of stock situations, have an original 3DS and now a Switch. Realized the only way to transfer Mii data is via Amiibo from 3DS to that (no direct Wii port available either I think) so I would need the NFC reader. So far I found GameStop, Target, and Toys R Us have it online only in stock as all new 3DSses have it built in. Almost tempted to find a used one at Gamestop and slide $5 to the guy behind the counter to use it 1 time for the Mii export. FFS it's on my Nintendo account and there's no way to bring it into the Switch.

ugh for some reason i just really wanna get a switch today in NYC, but it's clearly impossible :(

I am forcing myself to stop looking nearly everyday... (I mean I drive past Targets and Walmarts daily so it is not really hard to stop in). Going to try first week of April at Target, Walmart and Shopko while keeping an eye on Amazon for the next few weeks. Who knows...

You're better off simply calling several of them in the morning instead of just randomly strolling in.

Yeah I suppose, although I have had history of doing that, and still going there (as I needed to for some stuff anyways) and finding what they said was not available was sitting right there on the shelf.

missed it by seconds! hopefully i can catch best buy this week. amazon has been focusing too much on been focusing on their prime now service since launch.

edit: people getting their orders cancelled.

It's more concerning that they didn't have a better idea ahead of time how popular this product was going to be.

Weren't they still selling their launch Wii U stock years later? It's a weird market, video games. Mostly because it's made up of oddballs and idiot savants.

Walmart had this in stock for 5 minutes and I ignored the beeping from in stock now because I thought it was some annoying alarm clock, fml.

Lot of buzz about orders being canceled. Mine has not yet (I got in there within a minute all the way through check out). I am sadly hoping it is the case they let too many through versus a total mistake in regards to the posting...

Damn, missed the Pro Controller on Amazon.

I need to sub to this thread and keep a close eye.

As a side note, why the hell does every retailer allow for private party sales now? I shouldn't go to walmart.com and see a Pro controller for 107 dollars sold by daddyphat420.

I got rid of both my preorders a couple weeks ago, thinking that I'd get it around Christmas with Mario and a full Zelda package. Played my friend's this weekend, dicked around in BotW for 3 hours and I am absolutely fiending to get one now. FUCK.

Take it with a grain of salt (for those who ordered when it was on Walmart and have not shown it to be canceled yet) but I chatted with an agent and she said my order looks fine.

I am thinking they "sold" too many through their system. My guess is if you got through it fast, and it is not canceled yet you are good? Who knows at this point. Not holding my breath until it shows shipped.

What were they going to do, up production on the 4th and have them selling today?

Maybe have a second shipment ready to go once the initial launch stock sitting in stores for weeks inevitably sold out on day 1? I dunno.

Sony's PS4 launch is the gold standard for hardware. Nintendo should have taken notes.

Just amazed at how Nintendo fails to capitalize on sales momentum so consistently.

On the day of launch there were multiple posts saying people had no trouble finding one even 2-3 days after. That's not really a ton of 'momentum' and I'm sure pre-orders were capped based on previous launches. It's annoying but if you're Nintendo do you A. just ship out small units and continue to piss people off or B. try to produce as many as you find fit and do it that way?

I'm honestly more shocked at the NES Classic still being a PITA to find.

Have they restocked any 3DS systems yet? I remember there being stock issues with those too.

I haven't been following 3DS stock so I can't speak to it. I would not be surprised if they slowed that down to push people onto the Switch.

That'll be hard to do if they can't get Switches back into stores soon. Mid-April is definitely too long to wait for a restock.

Predicting demand for new products is next to impossible getting it right is next to impossible.
