So I decided to finally watch Jurassic World Dominion...

It's a weird franchise that feels like it's still coasting off the first movie. For some reason after watching a trailer and looking at the scenes in new Lego sets, I feel like I've already seen a JP film.

The first is the best.

The sequel '' lost world ' is a piece of dog shit.

No offense to the dogs.

I don't think Lost World is a bad film, but it has always bugged me the so called good guys are responsible for most of the deaths that happen in it. The problem the franchise has is that the original was truly groundbreaking, and it can never replicate that sense of wonder.

I actually liked the Lost World, the last part is bad and something from Honey I Blew Up The Kid.

But 2/3rd's of the film are enjoyable, the music score is great, i love the Lost World JP theme, really cool.

JP3 was ok, i'd watch it if it was on TV on a rainy afternoon.

Jurrasic World was ok, on par with JP3, ok in parts but not great.

Fallen Kingdom & Dominion are the biggest piles of shite i have ever seen, the stories are beyond idiotic, especially Dominion, i will never watch them again.

This new movie coming up i have zero hope for, they just need to leave the whole Jurrasic universe alone before any more damage is done.

The first was just some average shit as it was, just a nostagia trip to childhood for most makes it seem a decent film. As for all that followed, just a massive pile of nasty shit, the lot of them.

Alright, set me straight. I have seen and read Jurassic Park & Lost World (movie was awful). Are any of the other movies worth watching? Any in the newest trilogy?
Not really..

I know many really liked Jurassic World, but to me it's just a dumber version of JP. You might want to try that one though if you can digest Marvel-style movies.

Completely disagree with that, the original is one of those few things that holds up just as well as you remember. A lot of the effect still look good, the soundtrack is superb and the buildup to the T-Rex attack is a masterclass in how to build tension.

Im sorry but I I am on about the original Jurrasic Park, Its ok but I watched it a few yrs back first time since I was a kid and thought it was average, not terrible but just not to good. Im not someone who likes modern films either, I mainly watch older films now days. Each to there own and can see why some love it, it just dosnt click the same for me.

I can sort of understand that, as the movie has been raped and massacred in Home-Video.
It simply evokes an entirely different vibe than originally intended, almost entirely sanitized of its horror connotations.

In its original presentation, cinematography and DTS Cinema Track (especially at refence volume on a good home-threatre), JP is still a simply unparalleled experience to this day.

You know I think this is it, sometimes things are ledt as they were, all these re-releases with "femastering" ect can take that charm away. Thats a great vid aswell, should realy be left as it was.

The real problem in this case, however, is the lack of a proper "Remaster".
JP in home-video still has the same look it had in VHS, with its raised brightness, decreased contrast and also tons of "magenta" injected into the white balance, to both compensate for CRT vision and to follow the awful trend from the time of making people look pink and happy and healthy.. all of this obviosuly entirely destroys the original presentation.

The pictures below in this comparison show how VHS, LaserDisc and DVD were supposed to look on CRT TV's, and yet people, even some professionals, use those sources on modern Rec.709 displays, making everything look "pink" and entirely incorrect, to then use them as reference..

Thank God for fan-funded 35mm 4K scans.

GOD NO. These movies make Lost World seem like peak Spielberg, and I'm not even remotely joking. They are a mockery of everything that made the first JP good.
