My first White Stripes album ( Had a Barnes & Noble card burning a hole in my pocket) and picked it up based on hearing the album on amazon and liking the overall sound. I listened to it and enjoyed it alot, last night as i was putting it on my ipod for work I was looking through the sleeve and noticed that they don't have a bass player ( I knew they were a duo but figured jack played bass on the album) how the hell do they pull that off ? I mean on the slower songs I see they use piano in the bass's place but on the harder stuff, how does that work ? Detuned guitar?

All of the other albums don't use piano anywhere near, or if at all, as much as this one does, and its a different depature from the other albums. The fact is, Jack is crazy with his instrumuments and does so really awesome stuff with just a single guitar. I've never seen them live, but from what I understand, many of the songs use different guitars, tuned different, and many cases dropped way down for some songs. I'd say if you liked this one, go pick up all the others as soon as you can. won't be disappointed.
