So Is 'Disney Plus' Worth It?

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
So I love Star Wars and MCU is hit and miss for me.

Old Disney stuff is okay I guess. My dad adores Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Fantasia.

Are there 20th Century Fox movies? Can I watch the Alien movies?

Main reason for me to have it is Mandalorian and maybe some of the MCU shows.

I dunno but now that I can use my phone as a Hotspot considering giving it a whirl.

I still need to see Season 3 of Stranger Things but that is Nutflix.

It's kind of meh, but nice to have. I think that unless you're really in the mood for Marvel + Disney + Star Wars (literally main sections on the app) plus assorted things (neat documentaries, a surprisingly awesome Gordon Ramsey travel show), it isn't going to be something you use much.

I almost recommend it more when you specifically want to watch something from that bunch, than keeping it year round.

I would just get the physical media, rip it to my NAS drive, and watch it from there. The constant censoring, content removing because of Disney trying to cater to the snowflakes have puts me off at paying any streaming service.

Yes?

Depends how much you like Disney lol
I'm not but I love Star Wars. Some MCU stuff I really like (Infinity War, Doctor Strange) and others are either average at best or terrible.

My dad might use it a little bit too though. He would get a kick out of seeing the original Snow White again but it might also make him sad and remind him of my mom, who loved that movie but passed away from cancer.

I already own Infinity War, Doctor Strange and Force Awakens on VUDU.

Which Disney original is this?

I agree with MayauMiao MayauMiao

Just buy some used blurays and/or dvds of what you wanna watch. The problem with services like Disney plus is that you never own that crap and if you maintain a subscription you end up paying more in the long run anyhow

It's just like GamePass. I realized very quickly that I was barely touching everything I was given access to, and was often ignoring the service entirely to play the physical games I'd bought anyhow

Maybe try it for a month and watch snow white with your pops lol

I don't care about owning any of this unless I really in which case I'd go out and buy a physical copy or drm free.

But I don't want to buy a bunch of used blu-ray discs for something I don't know if I'll like.

But I totally understand what you're saying.

I think I might end up doing a month if the Stimulus magically happens just for the Midichlorian and to watch the mildly entertaining train wreck that was the Rise of Skinwalker and subject myself to the beak-nosed lesbian kissing scene again.

Hey remember MetalAlien MetalAlien .... Remember I subjected you to this movie. I'm.... I'm sorry. Please forgive me.

Got ya. Truthfully, and don't take this as anything more than some solid advice, but if you gotta wait for a stimulus check to get a Disney + sub, and you only like a few movies on there... you might wanna not get Disney +

Save that cash in case of an emergency

Cheers, dude and good luck with everything

Nah you're very right.

Probably save that money for a Switch Lite carrying case.

Mandalorian S2 is from Oct 30 to Dec 18.

so you can sub for 2 months or sub halfway through the season.
I'll probably wait for the stimulus which will probably never happen, watch S1 and S2 of Mandalorian and cancel after.

Personally I used it for about 2 months and ran out of things I was interested in. Cancelled and haven't felt the need to re sub

Well all the replies pretty much solidify I won't be blowing 8 bucks even for just a month.

Guess I'll wait to see if they ever do a week free trial or some shit.

It was a but disappointing really I thought there would be more of a draw other than "hey we have the star wars and the Marvel over here". If you're not interested in rewatching old Disney stuff then you've probably made the right choice.

Do you have a kid?
Do you like old Disney content?
Do you like new Disney content?
Do you like to give your corporate overlords money so they can appease the shareholders?

If you answered maybe to any of these then sure.

What if I don't have a kid but I'm essentially have arrested development and a man-child?

oh shit...

Nah seriously I wouldn't recommend Disney plus unless you really enjoy a large portion of the content. Mandalorian is neat but not everyone is a hardcore Star Wars fan so I cannot just recommend it for one show.

I'm leeching, but I don't use it that much. Part of the problem is that I have most of my favorite Disney stuff on 4k/Blu-ray already.

None of these services are for me. I buy all my content so if there is a new show I want to watch I just wait for the season to be over and buy one month and binge watch what I want and then cancel.

It could be worth it for others. It just really depends on what they like and need.

I canceled. Watched some MCU stuff but that was it. Not worth it imho. They need to add more original content faster.

If it were just me, I'd say not worth it. But me & my daughter love watching AFV together so that alone has made it worth it. We've watched more of that than anything else.

I dig it. Hamilton, MCU, Star Wars, Pixar movies, etc... It's got what I like to watch... Plus new stuff every month!

It finally arrived in South America after a goddamn year (or almost that) and I gotta say: it's really underwhelming.

I already have Netflix and Prime and I'm trying Disney Plus for 7 days. But, to me, I'm more into series and stuff from all over the world and some different animation stuff. While I love a lot of the Disney cartoons and I do like Pixar, I don't really rewatch a lot of movies, only if I like them very much, so I saw the majority of those Pixar movies already, I don't care for newer Star Wars and MCU fucking sucks. The coolest thing I saw was a documentary about Dolphins - I think I'm going to watch more animal documentaries while the trial is active but I doubt I'll subscribe it because it's expensive when compared to Prime and Netflix. I thought it would be cooler but it's underwhelming. I'm just going to Kodi some of the cartoons. he he

I don't know why, but it reminds me of early Netflix circa 2010.

I'd say it's worth it, considering that the app seems to accept at face value that a device hundreds or thousands of miles away from the paying account is totally just another device which is obviously owned by the purchaser of the subscription, and allows for many such hypothetical devices to exist at the same time.

Perhaps anyone with friends or family that already have an account could take that into consideration. :messenger_beermugs:
