Keep in mind, to get even those sales on the PS2 and Xbox they had to release it at a budget price. And after all that, neither will probably ever sell as well as the Gamecube version did before it became a Player's Choice title.

Looking at Mega Collection vs Heroes sales on PS2 and Xbox, I'm beginning to think that Gems Collection should've been multiplatform, and Shadow be the GC-exclusive instead of the other way around.

I distinctly remember people questioning the decision to make mega collection multiplatform, saying Sonic games sell best on GC so they should be exclusive to the system. Now Gems is exclusive Sega still receive criticism.

Mega Collection + racked up another 650,000 in sales for Sega, its kinda stupid to leave all that extra money on the table especially when that's better than what most of their original games sell, anyway according to Capcom, Nintendo's definition of exclusivity is 6 months so I'm expecting Gems + to appear on the PS2 & Xbox next year

Sega's likely getting some royalty "incentives" for it for a specified period. If you're going to do that, makes sense to go with your strongest base first (a la GTA PS2) then port over to your secondary market 6 months later when the window ends (a la GTA Xbox/PC). For once, Sega's making a good business decision here...

If they released it on the other systems though, they'd be expected to release it at a reduced price though, which they probably don't want to do.

Plus, personally, I kind of feel Sonic pretty much belongs to the Nintendo system, since, well, the console wars of the 90s with Mario and Sonic were hot.

To me, I think I creamed my pants at the very fact that Sonic was being played on my Nintendo console.
