So, WHEN are you going to buy a 9th Gen console?

We all know we'll end up getting one of the new consoles down the line, so --aside from the usual question of which console you will get-- I'm interested in asking WHEN will you buy a next-gen console.

In my case, as of today I don't know when I'm getting a PS5 (honestly, I'm not hyped for it yet --even if I am mostly a PS gamer-- and Sony hasn't given me any reason to buy one yet). I guess I'll get one when Nihon Falcom starts releasing exclusive PS5 Legend of Heroes games? But I plan on getting an Xbox Series X for my birthday on April 2021 once the Final Fantasy VII Remake exclusivity deal drops off.

So, when are you going to buy a 9th Gen console?

PS: Yes, I'm aware that gamers who play mainly on PC are less likely to get a 9th Gen console. Pls, consider this post for those who will.

Won't buy a series X because they slapped a last gen SSD in that shit that will gimp the whole gen for Microsoft.

Don't get me started being anchored by a 4Tflop little brother weaker than a one X.

And PS5 is weaker than XSX, so I'll keep my gameboy.

What a joke this next gen.

If there are a number (let's say at least 10 or so) of exclusives i'm interested in, i'll likely get one down the line. The Playstation 4 and the Xbox had nothing that interested me.

I am waiting to see what Nintendo does with the Switch, if there's going to be a "Pro" version of that. It amassed quite the number of games i'm interested in playing, so i'll probably try and manage my budget to purchase a "Pro" version of the Switch.

PS5 day 1 for weeb shit, and because I honestly don't think there's anything else to spend money on whenever it eventually ships. I get my self worth from buying dumb shit, so I'm really hoping me it gets through that week, man.

Mid-gen for me, if I buy one at all. I'm holding out for VR, expanded b.c., bigger hard drive, and for the launch-day hardware issues to be ironed out.

When there are must have games for me (which may never be the case) or when there are a lot of nice-to-have games and a good price, preferrably on Xbox Series X (assuming PS5 still uses Dual Shock controllers).

Not sure I'll be buying a PS5 for exclusives and PC will be for third party and Xbox titles

Day 1 for PS5. I've got some money saved up for one. I went out at midnight and got a PS4 back at launch. I'm excited for it. I do want a Series X, but I'll probably get the base low-end model n a year or so. I have really enjoyed the PS consoles since PS1.

No idea. And it depends on whether the Switch Pro is counted as gen 9 or not. I won't be getting the XsX, and only the PS5 when it has enough games that interest me. Until then I'm set with my PC and Switch (and PS4 Pro).

Playstation 5 as soon as I see anything being available unless the price is stupidly high (more than 600€ which I doubt).
Xbox Series X extremely unlikely that I will ever buy one.
Switch New/Pro maybe if it actually does happen and some sweet new games come with it.

i have vibes i need to wait ...
those machines go in tdp areas far greater thant the ones of dark times.

Xbox series x day one , ps5 depends on how they will support the platform , won't take it easy this time otherwise i may end up with a gameless console for the first 2 years like the ps4 , I'll have to wait and see.

Going to rock my current PC setup (7700k/GTX1080) hopefully to 2022 then see which console is best but probably get a PS5 for GOW, TLOU, and Spiderman series. Still open though, if MS pulls a rabbit out of a hat and has better IPs then I'd go with that. And there won't be a console purchase prior to a major PC upgrade (CPU/GPU, etc.).

Support for PS4/XB1 for the first year or so gives me hope that I'll be fine for 1440p 80 FPS at at least PS4/XB1 settings. I can live with that for two years as I tend to wait 10-12 months to buy games anyways as they cost close to $100 in Canada after tax.

Day one for PS5 as the main console ..
After a while I'll take XSX for BC only + if there are great exclusives then it won't hurt

Potentially Day 1 for PS5 provided it's not over $399, and BC is up to snuff (meaning just about everything works). Won't bother with XSX as long as I finally upgrade my PC at some point.

not sure not even sure if itll even be worth it to have one unless I have a 4K tv and I only will purchase OLEDs which are over a grand. Gotta take some time to save.

PS5 at launch probably, depending on the backwards compatibility situation and launch games.

If there are any compelling launch games, or if I can play Bloodborne at a smooth frame rate, I'll buy it.

i'll buy both day one, but im going to keep the xbox unopened in a glass case so i can point it out to house guests and we can have a good chuckle

Dont forget both consoles will probably be supply constrained, i mean they always are anyway at launch, even without the Corona shite. So when those pre-orders open, get that order in!.

Depends on price, launch lineup and announced games for next year.
But I'll most likely give it a year and I'll wait for some good sale/discount/bundle.

Despite the underwhelming hardware I'm still more inclined to go with a PS5 simply because I prefer the exclusives and because of backwards compatibility (so I can sell my pro)

Either XSX at launch then PS5Pro or PS5 at launch then XSX-X

It depends on how the games run. If i can play next gen games on my X without too much loss, then i'll buy a PS5. If games on XSX look amazing, i'll buy one of them first.
