I'm very disappointed with the poll result tbh

For 40 bucks you don't wanna support the best developer in the past decade?!?!..... and then you all complain about 80 bucks game, yeah whatever bro

cry me a river next time yo'll complain about 80 bucks games
I have no allegiance to any developer no matter how good they are. Its simply not a game that I want to experience.

I guess people really love the solo campaign structure, or really hate the idea of coop.
My personal interest in FromSoft game is lore/story and world discovery.

Here it's focus on gameplay and bosses. I like both but without story, it doesn't do much for me.

Coop is a plus. Might try it much later with some friends.

i was skeptical at first, but quickly pre-ordered after playing the network test. But some of the comments here.. i played pretty much all souls games with friends together in co-op and this will be no exception, except there is no PvP or invaders, then some people have the idea this is a GAAS-game ? No its not its a fully complete game for 40 euros with no microtransactions or mtx ... and how is this suddenly a multiplayer game as all souls games have been a multiplayer game (where u can choose to go solo if u like) i sometimes really dont get gamers logic.

I hate PvP in From Games besides the fact that they;/re a laggy/janky mess and full of cheaters so prolly not. It'll be dead after the first month.

nvm, I thought it was PvEvP for some reason. Eh, still prolly not unless my friend wants to play it since we're messing around with Seamless Coop now in ER.

Youre 100 % right that some kind of multiplayer was always part of the Souls games. It is weird how that is used against the game now all of a sudden.

Don't know too much about the game yet. The most appealing part about it is that it's multiplayer.

The most fun I had with Elden Ring was with the Seamless Co-Op mod, only because I was playing with a friend. The actual game, for me, was just a way of "hanging out."

Also really doubt the game will support ultrawide, and if it's capped at 60 FPS it's DOA for me. Still a small chance I'll get it if a friend convinces me.

Describing Armored Core as a "boss rush" is more than a bit dismissive.
And personally speaking I'm way more disinterested in Nightreign's multiplayer focus, anyway.
It sounds dismissive, sure, but this is going off of footage I've seen from the game, and a relative's own accounts of it. A relative who likes the game, no less.

The game is basically 80% over-the-top bosses and 20% everything else by my (admittedly not first-hand) reckoning. I was extremely disappointed to hear of this, being a long-time AC fan.

Fromsoft has less and less to offer those of us who've stuck with them since the King's Field days. They've completely lost their identity.

The things I need to know before buying the game:
  1. It looks like they want Nightreign to be service game where they add characters and bosses over time. But they dont dare say it, because of an eventual backlash before launch. Its hinted at in the deluxe edition which will have DLC added, but no details as what the DLC is. But its not in the standard edition, so there is something of value there and will standard edition owners have to buy that DLC? And what exactly is the DLC? Its weird that it doesnt say, because usually you have to state what you are selling. Or at least I want to know: what exactly is in that DLC? Before I buy the game.
  2. Then there is the actual gameplay loop, which looks like a variant of the basic idea in PUBG. But theyve made their own version of it, and I cant tell if Im going to like the way the gameplay progresses. Without having tried it, its impossible to say if its going to work as well as the one in PUBG, which was based on the Battle Royale movie. Is the gameplay going to be fun? Just calling it a battle royale doesnt say much, when it looks like theyve changed the whole basic idea of what that is. To begin with, I dont enjoy speed running as a way to play games. So the idea that you are on a timer and have to rush through content puts me off the game, but maybe it works out. Thats why Im not preordering, I need to know more about the gameplay loop.
  3. Solo or 3 player runs: the solo run seems like a miserable way of playing a game that is made for multiplayer. And for 3 friends playing you need to buy 3 copies of the game. So without a friend group all with the game, youre pushed towards playing with strangers of all kinds, and the fun you have is going to hinge on how skilled or friendly other people are. I guess on Xbox you can use LFG to find groups, but Im generally speaking one of the players that dont enjoy doing that. I prefer it when the game matches me with other players for me, so I dont have to go through all of the socializing bits and have to speak to someone or get to know people just to play a game. Thats the last bit, how Im gonna deal with playing in a 3 player group with people I dont know.
  4. Premade characters: I see the videos and they look great but I have no interest in playing premade characters in a game like this. There is not even a single character that I want to play, as far as I can see in the prelaunch videos so far. They look great, but none of them make me go Oh yeah I wanna play as that dude. I want to make my own character or at least have some kind of customization going on. It looks like there are unlockables that are permanent? But are they to a particular character, or account-wide? I need to know more about this, too. And the characters that do exist in the game now are not doing anything for me to want to buy in.

Not at launch, no.
If in a few months some of my friends show interest in playing it, sure, we might pick it up on sale.

It's not a genre I give a hoot about. I'm not at all interested in a coop forced game that's has little in common with the games I do enjoy from Fromsoft. So why would I buy it?

Nah. New baby seriously destroyed my time gaming budget from low (6-10h /wk) to quasi non-existent. Still have Shadow of the Erdtree in my backlog. There's no way I can do coop games for a while. Even when I was just running my business having my coop crew blow up my phone at 18:30 was a bit much.

I don't spend money to "support devs". I spend money to play the games I like, and some asset flip multiplayer slop isn't a game I like.

But no worries, next time they develop a single player game I'll probably be there.
Sorry if I sound out of touch, but what do people mean when they call something slop? Like garbage sludge for pigs? And why do multiplayer games have such a stigma? I'm having so much fun with Call of Duty.

Sorry, too much internet on my side is affecting my way of speaking lol.

Yeah slop is basically something bad and low effort. In this case I don't mean it because it's multiplayer, but because it reuses a lot of assets from their previous games and honestly seems to me like a low effort product, something their B-team must have been working at while the main team is doing something else.

Nope, I rather support Duskbloods
You rather buy the game with no release date that you don't even know how it plays, except that it's forced MP like this one?
😂😂😂

It would be more reasonable to say that you are waiting to know more about Duskbloods before you decide between them...

I have no means to take a decision as of now.

Not too interested to be honest, but reviews will solidify the decision ultimately.

Garbage, Mediocre, Unpolished, Phoned in, Kusoge, Bland, Boring, Bomba, Trash, Shit, Unimaginative, Parody, Mockery of oneself, Clown Game.

Probably one of those.

I worried the same thing when the gameplay trailer showed the stone golem giant and Morgott. But they showed others and I don't believe they would asset flip in good conscience. I was impressed by the trailers, especially the bow character, the mighty shot animation was sick.

These trailers are like that single clip of radahn vs. malenia we got years ago, they want to surprise us.

Elden Ring was the death rattle of the Souls formula for me. Entirely too much of a good thing and I'm just completely over From's endless recycling and minor iteration approach. The lore is also starting to feel like those Metal Album Title generators. The Switch one especially feels like self-parody at this point. I've bought everything they've done since Demon's Souls Day 1 but I'm officially done. I never finished Elden either and had minus zero interest in the DLC.

Wake me up when Sekiro 2 is announced.

Blame Namco marketing for not getting ahead of this with clear messaging. I personally know a few people who still think this is a battle royale game due to so many idiot influencers constantly saying it's a battle royale simply because of a shrinking circle mechanic (and nothing else).

It feels like low IQ influencers have shaped the narrative of this game's genre and it's going to be a giant ball of confusion on release when people start showing off single player PVE-only gameplay of cool features and moments.

I hate PvP in From Games besides the fact that they;/re a laggy/janky mess and full of cheaters so prolly not. It'll be dead after the first month.

PvPvE is Duskbloods. Nightreign is essentially a 'dungeon running' experience with a single player mode (that people here still don't know exists).

I was wondering about the name of the place the game is in - Limveld. Is that Limgrave from a different time? Or near Limgrave?
Yeah I thought it was a reference to Limgrave, the terrain seems similar to it, like a remixed version. I don't like that either! lol.

Someone else mentioned the asset flip nature of the game and that's probably a better explanation for why I'm not interested. Why are there fucking bosses from the Dark Souls series in there? It makes it feel like a fan-made mod or some shit.

Nightreign is not game for me. I just wana explore the world chilling, without rush & wana explore every inch of the map.
I hate concept of time limitation in Nightreign.......even if you can solo it.

No... this game seems to be balanced around coop, and I'm really impatient when it comes to the online experience with randoms.

I know this can be played solo, but as I said it seems that the difficulty is balanced around 3 players, and I can't fathom having to endure another 30 min run just to have another go at a difficult boss.

If it looks good sure. Not gonna trust reviews either. I'm sure it can be somewhat fun for 10h at least which is probably more than most reviewers will play before rating it.

I LOVED Elden Ring but after 800+ hours I had my fill and I'm not in MP focus games….my answer is no.

Looks like a fan mad mod.
True souls game launch on nintendo switch 2
Gtfo with this T R A S H boi

Still, blindly buying a game just because of the director name is pure fanboyism.
I play gameplay, I don't play "Miyazaki".
Its not that deep really but sure I enjoy good things you can call me fanboy in that case.

Between this and The Duskbloods, FromSoft are in lazy mode right now.

Wake me when their next single player masterpiece drops.

I've been buying all From Software games since Demon's Souls and playing them offline exclusively. I've never been invaded in any game, and only did co-op a couple of times. For me those are single-player games.

I thought this was going to be another big expansion when the trailer hit. I was bummed to hear it's an MP game. Good for the fans that enjoy that stuff though. I hope it's great for them.
