I am making this new post because I am basically seeing something since the trailer last night... many many many "former" PT haters out there saying how George Lucas has gotten their hopes up once again.

So this thread is for all of the ones out there not fooled by Lucas. The ones who either didn't like the trailer at all, didn't like what they saw in the trailer, or even liked the trailer but still think ROTS is gonna be shit... is there any one left out there who thinks this?

I don't, but I figured in this dark time for you guys where seemingly everyone is all cozy with Lucas again after that trailer, I would give you guys a place to group together and continue to express how Lucas is about to beat our hopes to near death yet again and laugh at our fanboyism all the way to his Scrooge McDuck-style money bin on Skywalker Ranch.

I just hope Lucas makes something that isn't as horrible as Matrix Revolutions.

I will watch it, but I am sure it won't be as good as I want it to be.

I stopped at "trailer looks like shit". say what you will about the writing and acting, but that trailer most certainly did not look like shit. more than likely due to the lack of acting and dialogue in it...

but if you honestly say the trailer "looked like shit" then I think it is safe to say you no longer maintain any objective viewpoint on the subject.

It DID look like shit. It was just all just CG shots and flashy action grabs. I didn't see any content that inspired me -- just MTV video sound and fury. Sorry if I don't get all adrenalized and shit my pants when I see a by-the-numbers action trailer wed to a John Williams score.

how was that by the numbers? a space conflict unlike pretty much anything we have ever seen on film, we have certainly seen nothing to the scale and intensity of Mustafar, the kasshykk shots looked again unlike anything we have ever gotten before, and then yoda figthing palpatine in the senate rotundum?

I fail to see how any of this is "by the numbers action." I am not disqualifying what you are saying that that was very much an "MTV generation" trailer with very little story conveyed and mostly pretty shots... but WHAT pretty and inspiring shots.

and it is lose/lose for lucas it appears. People complain for the last 6 years straight that "trade tarrifs, detective stories, political struggles, etc" are insanely boring and make the movies suck.. and then lucas seemingly gives action straight up the wazoo and now people say "blah.. all action and with less substance." some minds need to be made up. either star wars is an action spectacle with plot or it is a story driven piece with little action. personally, it has always been the former. star wars has never been much about the plot. that is what I always thought people's main problem was with the PT. but now it seems he is returning to form and they don't like that either. go figure.

Me too... if you take all the movies and understand each movies role as it pertains to the story, then you will realize that Lucas had his hands tied with Ep. 1. I thought Ep. 2 was very good and Ep. 3 should be the best of all 6 if you like the dark despairing theme and epic battles.

Like most things in this world... the more popular something becomes, the more hate it receives.

Well it did a LOT more for me then the last 2 starwars movies (hype wise). Seemed much darker and more sinister. Btw- It did not look like shit AT ALL. The acting and script are still questioable but that trailer looked hot. I think the fact that it shows the good guys getting owned throughout and the dark side rising to power gave everyone a little bit of a boner too. I mean, what's everyones favorite Star Wars flick? EMPIRE am I right? We just want to see all the jedi's get slaughtered and Anakin be an evil prick as he slowly becomes Darth Vader. Seeing all the choas on screen further solidifies for us that it just may have potential to kick ass, and that to a star wars fan is exciting. Jaded or not.

The script and acting seemed just as bad when anyone opened their mouth, but the trailer was cut really well. Just like ep1 and ep2 trailers.

The movie will suck i have no doubt, you would have to be stupid to think otherwise. I will still see it tho cause i have seen the first 2. :(

CG just doesn't do shit for me. These days, I get a boner from well-written dialogue and competent acting, not videogame cutscenes and special effects. Star Wars has never been big with me, although I enjoyed the first two -- ANH and ESB -- when I was a dumb kid. Fuck nostalgia; I'd rather let my tastes evolve than be shackled to the crap I gobbled up as a kid.

I enjoy sci-fi a great deal -- just not retarded sci-fi. Can't wait for Whedon's "Serenity", given the acting chops of the cast and Whedon's writing talents. HERE COMES THIS YEAR'S OT FLAMEWAR!

ugh you actually tainted Serenity by mentioning it in a Starwars Thread. The Starwars prequels arent even as good as the riddick movies let alone the firefly universe.

Drinky, are you diametrically opposed to all action movies? I ask only because "well-written dialogue" and "competent acting" aren't exactly hallmarks of the genre. Generally, kinetics and excitement are favored more. In addition, whether they use CG, camera tricks, or stunt work to achieve this is really beside the point.

I dont cringe in very many movies....but the starwars prequels had countless cringe worthy moments.
