Infrastructure isn't cheap. A new entry console business will have to invest in making the consoles, and build networks.I swear you just use some sort of weird math formula on a dart board and throw darts at it randomly, and act like you know wtf you are talking about…shit is hilarious by the way![]()
I get it, I enjoy it on occasion too…but just looking out for you with the "too far" and too many posts about it lolI probably oughta stop yeah

You need to invest at least $20b to have a crack in this industry and hope you get your hardware money back.
Mr Bean has been working on his looks. He looks handsome man.

Well you said the Genesis, but then the Dreamcast was a sensation. Imagine these new graphics as good as the arcade, right after the N64 and PS1. Also, Sega were SO not afraid of bringing completely new genre and peripherals, so much so they went bankrupt. Now THAT'S passion ahaha. I god damn miss Sega.Non Nintendo consoles haven't been "novel" for the past 40 years- it's the same concept of playing games in front of a TV by yourself or with other people- they've not reinvented the wheel since the fucking Sega Genesis.
If anybody new comes in it's either Meta or Valve, probably both. And I'm fine with that because both of those companies shake things up. Xbox was never really that necessary as a console brand as the years went on because there's no need for another powerful console that plays big gigantic AAA games
Xbox isn't going the Sega route. They've got hardware in the works. Believe it or not.
Hey, I recognized that PS5 game.

Isn't this like the 3rd time Xbox has died?
Exactly this."If I can't have Xbox then none of you should be around".
Hasn't Nintendo been doomed for like 58 years now?

The most popular kids games are on a console with no PC releaseNobody is ever going to make another console.
New entires to the market will be cloud stuff going forward, and I've got to admit the free Luna games I've tested work flawlessly. I can see the younger and future generations adopting cloud. Not what I want to see but I think it's inevitable.
Such a strange comment.Imo Sony , MS and Nintendo should drop console and go only software, release everything into PC and thats it.
Nintendo is doing profit on their hardware compared to the oders who sold their consoles at loss. They have no reason to abandon it to come to Microsoft Windows. Not even for entitled gamers demanding it.Imo Sony , MS and Nintendo should drop console and go only software, release everything into PC and thats it.
the magic is that even "entitled gamers" can play Nintendo games on PC way better than actually Nintendo fans plays on their Nintendo smartphone... i mean console.Nintendo is doing profit on their hardware compared to the oders who sold their consoles at loss. Same for Sony really considering their PS+ and software cutsNintendo is doing profit on their hardware compared to the oders who sold their consoles at loss. They have no reason to abandon it to come to Microsoft Windows. Not even for entitled gamers demanding it.

And that's just US. Part of Sony's path to success is that they sell very widely in all sorts of countries where constant high speed internet isn't guaranteed. We are so far away from that point in the US as too many people live in rural settings that could never use a cloud service
Optional yes but forced cloud?
No way
First response nails it. I don't mind consoles, but stop this stupid platform wars. All software should be platform agnostic.Imo Sony , MS and Nintendo should drop console and go only software, release everything into PC and thats it.

Throw in League of Legends and other F2P games that are played by tens of millions in Asia.Hate to break it to you but Minecraft, Fortnite, and Roblox didn't all start on consoles
Edit: Laughing emojis don't negate facts.
Agreed. The same people who swore they were going to following Microsoft with their Day 1 gamepass releases. Yet, look at Microsoft now.People who say this stupid shit haven't taken one actual second to look at the numbers. Sony are on track to outsell the PS4 and have taken in billions upon billions in gaming revenue. Nobody with a functioning brain would look at these numbers and see signs that Sony should even consider dumping the console.
People who this "Playstation will inevitably dump consoles" are officially in the category of people i can no longer take seriously. You are simply not living in reality.
Please I would love for someone...anyone...with numbers driven data...to make the argument why Sony is going to dump consoles.
This is great for the US. What about places that are still playing "catch up" around the world? Licensing is another issue also. Unless they strictly adopt a monthly plan like they do now. I see it as an option not the only thing. If anything I see them releasing weak $200 machines with the basics on board and the more complex processing being done together with the cloud. But they would lose a lot of people introducing another subscription or online only fee to the masses. Those people arently really the primary target for console owners. Because every game require internet these days, so you need a good one to actually play online games.
5-10 years from now isnt going to be the same as now. We are currently working with fiber optic for faster internet. That would soon spread around the world making the internet faster.

No today Skynet....not today. That is just cap.
There is no limit to how much data we have.
Everyday, there is new data on the Internet. We are evolving at a rabid pace.
AI will be integral to the evolution of human kind as space conqueror. There is so much that AI provides to help us move faster.
Robot machines helped us alot. Now the AI will do the same.
That's cute. With their track record and studio management, we still have people that will believe that will happen. The Xbox One didnt kill the Xbox.
The next box certainly wont.
Assuming they can garner some good faith this generation with all their studios and gamepass being compelling the next box launching with Call of Duty free in the box (youll have to download it you dog) hey they can hold on.
They will still be in third place in terms of console sales.
But the divisions revenue will more than make up for the low hardware sales.
PS4?PC has your old consoles buddy. Name the system, and you can play their games there.
