Some more details on Assassin's Creed Shadows

We’ve finally got some new Assassin’s Creed Shadows gameplay info!

- Yasuke makes sounds when sneaking & assassinating enemies (alerting many in the camp with the latter), but we learned that his bow kills are quiet
- Dialogue is different depending on the character you chose during a mission, although so far they seem to say the same things but in different words
- A big feature from previous Assassin’s Creed games returns as you can call on Shinobi recruits to help you out during an encounter
- The call on Shinobi feature seems to be a combination of Call to Arms (AC Odyssey) and the Jomsvikings feature from AC Valhalla (based on my analysis)
- Both Naoe & Yasuke can do posture attacks to remove armor, but only Yasuke can charge up his attacks at any point during a combo, while Naoe can only charge up her first attack
- Yasuke is also the only one able to carry heavy items around the world
- Ubisoft finally confirms Naoe can use her bells to attract guards (probably similar to the noisemakers from Mirage)
- Enemies can react to Yasuke & naoe's posture attacks (charged light/heavy attacks) and break them out of it
- Guards can get sleepy by standing in the sun all day, making it easier to sneak past them
- Footsteps will stand out less in the rain
- Rain and snow are fully simulated in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, meaning that these weather effects can now happen throughout the entire map when it makes sense within the current season (where Odyssey & Valhalla for example always had snow in certain regions)
- Environments break more realistically thanks to the updated Anvil engine, with pieces falling down individually, for example
- Weather effects are massively improved, with wind effects looking way more realistically when blowing through trees or the grass
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be PS5 Pro Enhanced (seems to run at 60FPS, but will likely also do so on other consoles)
- The new tech will be included in all other upcoming mainline Assassin’s Creed games (like Hexe)

So basically features from MGS1 (1998) are worth bragging about?

Remember, ubisoft were actually innovators at one point in the stealth genre with Splinter Cell games.

Seriously some of the most miserable people on the planet in this forum these days :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Looks and sounds great to me, hope they get back what the last one (not Mirage) lost. More Odyssey, less Valhalla please!

Before Ghost of Tsushima and other games, I might have thought the same. After the last games in the series? The first game came out in 2007. So people have been asking for AC: Japan for well over 10 years. You can't say Ubisoft is early. Various games with Japan as a setting have been released over the years. And some of them have done a solid job. Will Shadows shine alongside them?

So deep down, just another Origins reskin.

I get that there's some people with a deap-seated hatred for Ubi as if they stole their lunch money but this game is really bringing out the hate force for something that seems at worst decent.

Well, I don't know about the other people here who aren't so eagerly awaiting Shadows. I've played almost all the AC games and finished many of them. And I can't say I've enjoyed it for the last few years. Origins was the last highlight for me. This part is probably another Origins 1.5 with a different setting. It just gets boring for some people at some point.

And Shadows is quite controversial, especially when it comes to the protagonists. I would have preferred to play a somewhat more classic japanese character if there were already two protagonists in the game. Not two rather unusual characters that seem a little strange in the setting. One okay, both? And the rest of the game doesn't exactly look as if the aim was to be authentic. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I have the impression that this used to be more important to Ubisoft.

Burnout is understandable for any ongoing franchise - I feel it myself. That doesn't seem to be it. Forza Horizon, a series I really enjoy, also apes the shit out of a formula that doesn't get nearly the same amount of hate for doing so.

Forza Horizon is a racing game. Yes, innovation is now lacking there too. But a racing game is primarily about driving. A game like AC has a much easier time reinventing the wheel. With FIFA, nobody asks if they could add handball to make it feel fresh.

Forza Horizon also has far fewer spin-offs than Assassin's Creed. And a lot has changed over the years. I wouldn't be surprised if we get more progress again with Horizon 6. Forza Motorsport was a long time coming and was just as unpopular as Motorsport 7. Forza Horizon 5 perhaps simply had a gap to fill. I don't know if Playground had that much time to make something of the generational change. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of pressure from Microsft to have something for the series. Forza Horizon is one of the biggest and most successful brands Xbox still has.

I had the impression Playground kept Forza Horizon 4 alive longer than originally planned and at the same time they had to bring 5. I'm curious to see what we'll get with Forza Horizon 6. However, the pressure is unlikely to be any less after the failure of Forza Motorsport. That thing was doa. I played through the career after launch and never looked back.

Personally I don't think genre should matter and is largely irrelevant for my comparison which is they keep making that kind of game with different reactions in the community. To AC's credit they did swing differently for these past three trilogies which is perfectly fine for those who don't like them. They get decent ratings from critics along with pretty good sales. It's just weird to see the vitriol for them and the company.

you again? whats your gimmick round these parts
There's not always a "gimmick" or motive you need to untangle.

Bro literally has some of the worst takes i've read on here. Complains about people capping on AC, Dragon Age, and modern games... then turns around and caps on Nintendo every chance they get. I mean, the news here is that AC main character makes noise. I'm sorry but if your big story for your game is that your character makes noise then you cannot complain when people cap on you :messenger_tears_of_joy: . And anyone trying to white knight ubisoft over this needs to go touch grass :messenger_tears_of_joy:.

A game and company that promotes and force to your throat twisted woke agenda especially containing twisted gender ideology is no buy for me.

I don't need your help thank you

And that view is based on… ?

Is it simply that the main character isn’t a white male? Maybe I missed it but I haven’t even seen anyone allege a ‘twisted gender ideology’ until your post in relation to this game?

You ‘woke this, woke that’ guys need a new shtick - it’s beyond tiresome now.

Writes a lot, says very little

being able to distract guards, turn out lights etc, they are going for the full stealth experience with this one
- Guards can get sleepy by standing in the sun all day, making it easier to sneak past them
lol, they might also do the night thing in MGS5 where it has less guards at night (or when it snows or something)
- Footsteps will stand out less in the rain
They confirm this in some other trailer, but I like that touch with the audio coming into play, I recall them saying snow will be louder, like hearing the crunch of the snow or something.
- Rain and snow are fully simulated in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, meaning that these weather effects can now happen throughout the entire map when it makes sense within the current season (where Odyssey & Valhalla for example always had snow in certain regions)
^ This is probably my favorite element they added as this adds a layer of something dynamic, where you can plan a kill during a certain time frame knowing the setting will be different, like to your advantage.
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be PS5 Pro Enhanced (seems to run at 60FPS, but will likely also do so on other consoles)
Well....we knew that was likely lol (Probably also a launch game for Switch 2....maybe) I might get a Pro at launch after all lol
The new tech will be included in all other upcoming mainline Assassin’s Creed games (like Hexe)
Now....this I wonder if they mean the new Anvil engine overhaul or the weather system, I'd love for them to do this in Hexe too

Pretty much.

Anything different is "woke" to them to the point of it having the opposite effect, its now turned into a thing where nothing they say now can be taken seriously.

Its like, after all of this, how can anyone take any opinion seriously when this deep bias is what they are talking about?

I’m not too concerned about the African character being shoehorned into this game because thankfully I can choose to be the stealthy female Japanese character the vast majority of the time.

You clearly haven't been to racing forums. Casuals like fh5, most racing fans prefer fh2 or fh3.
