Some white collar workers are secretly working two jobs

I've done it. I had two ft jobs and one part time job at the same time. One was in-house, the other was virtual location, and the third was occasional in person in the evenings with clients. Ended up pulling it off for 2 years, until the pandemic hit.

Think this is a case where the few may ruin remote work for the whole?
No. Enough folks want remote and will sacrifice to do that. Pro-tip is to follow the trends in this thread. My only concern is the Fight Club premise. Rule #1, don't fucking talk about it.

Two jobs is a requirement since the economy failed in 2008 and having the cash from the second job makes a difference, and let’s be honest most people baby sit a family member or care for a grandmother but don’t call it a second job or get paid for it.

This was my plan after getting my IT certification. Apply and take any IT job given to me that's WFH. Only keep the jobs that have little work hours and just coast in the other IT jobs until they fire me.

It's not a requirement to be making 200-600k in wages

It's still not a requirement, but as I remember you know nothing about America but sensationalist garbage.
ah, yes because healthcare bankruptcies aren't a problem in this country, gotcha.

Or, maybe oga. I just don't have my head up my own ass.

Whot a scoop. I have been working two jobs since 2014. My wife a doctor since 2017. Everyone can do it when you have a salary job.

One of my colleagues was doing that a few years got and got fired. This is pre-pandemic.

So we work for a TELCO and this guy had 9 years in the company and developed an attitude and would never come to work... he would work remotely and only do 10% of the work. When questioned he would literally yell back with excuses like... I am doing my best and I only have 2 hands...

Turns out he was working full time for the competition. ..

I’m conflicted…

On one hand it’s really scummy to willingly just ignore a job that you’re getting paid for, but on the other hand if you’re employer is so feckless that they don’t even realise, then more power to you I guess?

I mean if you’re genuinely just amazing at what you do, and can do it twice over at the same rate of efficiency then good for you.

But taking advantage of remote working to be entirely absent at multiple jobs until you get fired is just shady as fuck and you should feel bad IMO.

What is the point of this? Just to fight?

Millions of Americans have insurance and don’t end up in bankruptcy. Millions of Americans have chronic health issues (like myself) and don’t make 200k and still live very well.

did I say medical bankrupticies don’t happen? No, I said 200k-600k is not a requirement to live, even if you have cancer. Learn to read what I actually say or fuck off.

IMO you’re paid to fulfill your job. If the job is being done, and you aren’t using company resources, than what’s the problem?

I remember the legend years ago on slashdot about some dev acting as his own outsource agency basically paying devs in India to do all of his jobs.

Oh, 100%. That’s what I meant by saying that if you’re efficient enough at what you do that you can hold down two remote work jobs and not leave your employer asking questions then I’ve got nothing but respect for you.

My disdain was aimed at that scumbag mercenary that clearly stated that they would just sign up for multiple jobs with no intention of doing a single jot of work (I think they bragged about “holding down” 10 jobs at a time) and just waited to get caught out and fired after a few weeks because there were plenty of other employers they could fleece.

They should feel fucking terrible about themselves, and I hope they get blacklisted from their industry and end up shovelling shit for the rest of their life.

As someone else in this thread stated, it’s yet another example of unscrupulous cunts exploiting a loophole for immediate gain, with zero thought for the honest workers that will inevitably pay the consequences for them being gutter trash human beings.

the best combo is having one white collar job and one blue collar job thats more physical and less mentally intensive and you'll get some exercise in. it'll probably improve his performance at the while collar job tbh. imo full time blue collar + part-time white collar is the better combo than full time white collar + part-time blue collar. if you just work white collar you're going to have to end up working out/exercising anyways to prevent heart disease might as well make some money doing it

Back in my day, this was called moonlighting. It was much harder cause you had to be in the office. Now it's much easier thanks to remoting.

And I am saying it is a requirement for many people in this country. Have you checked gofundme?

EDIT: I am merely arguing against the sensationalist garbage you attributed to me. It's not sensationalist when it actually bloody happens.
